Ayla had enough of the mocking and got up. What was so wrong with Xavier asking her to dance? "Excuse me."
She got up and went outside for some air. Xavier needed to stop. She needed to confess; would that stop him from bothering her?
The night continued, and there were no more disturbances from Xavier or anyone in the office.
Ayla was glad when the evening finished, and she made her way back to her place, feeling exhausted.
Now Ayla lay in her bed, thinking about everything that had happened. As per usual, she told Sammy everything that had happened.
"Wow such bitches."
"It was horrible, Sammy, like it was my fault."
"So only one of them thought that you had a chance?"
"Yeah, Carrie, but they talked her out of it."
"That sucks."
"It's great when they divert the attention but not when they mock me."
"You shouldn't let them walk all over you."
"I don't want to make any enemies, Sammy."
"I know, but how much longer will you let them do this?"
"It doesn't matter, Sammy."
"And your boss?"
"He is something else Sammy."
"He wants to kiss you Ayla. Doesn't that turn you on a bit?"
"No, I mean, he is my boss. I can't think like that."
"Why not?"
"It's not right, and mixing pleasure with business is not a good idea."
"Come on, don't you have a fantasy with him?"
"Sammy!"
"Loosen up Ayla. Just playing with you. You're so uptight."
"Night, Sammy."
"Hear me out..."
"No Sammy."
"What if he is serious about you?"
"No, he is not."
"How do you know if you don't give this a chance?"
"That means I would have to confess the truth if I want him to be honest."
"Then do it Ayla."
"No, I'm not ready to be humiliated."
"What do you mean, humiliated?"
"What if this was all a joke to him Sammy?"
"What if it is not Ayla?"
"And that is the problem Sammy. Even if it isn't, that's a problem on its own right there."
"How?"
"The fact that I don't know, I just don't know."
"Then think about it, Ayla."
They called it a night, and Ayla stayed awake, thinking about what Sammy had said; she had made some valid points.
Yet was she ready to confess? She took a deep breath and finally made her decision as to what she was going to do.
Monday morning came, and Ayla was very nervous. Would she tell him the truth? Her stomach churned.
Nope, she was not doing it. Oh, come on, Ayla, you can confess, get this over and done with.
"She is here." Said Carrie.
"What happened?"
"Gabby, Xavier's ex," Carrie replied.
Lunch came, and all the girls hurdled in the lunch area,
"I told you so. No way would Xavier be interested in Ayla." Said Antonella.
"She is a beauty, I must say," Casandra replied.
"Did you see how the seniors are angry?" This time, it was Shelly.
"At least we are all in the same boat." Carrie let out,
"What if they don't get back together?" Delia replied.
"You never know," Antonella replied.
Ayla listened, and she felt relieved that the attention was now off her. She threw away her plan of confessing.
That was no longer necessary as Gabby was now here, and they were probably back together.
Days went by, and Ayla was enjoying work. No more distractions, no more being called or pestered.
Everyone had relented on her, she felt as if she could breathe. Ayla went to get some coffee for her friends.
Everything was now in the past.
It was her turn, and she rushed back to the office when she bumped into someone. She lost her balance and fell backwards.
Some of the coffee spilled, and she landed on her foot. It was painful, but luckily, the person she ran into was fine.
"You need to watch where you are going."
"I'm so sorry, ma'am."
The girl shook her head, and Ayla could not lie that this girl was stunning. She tried to get up, but it took some time.
Her foot hurt so badly, and after taking forever clearing up the mess, she went to her friends and told them what had happened.
They groaned,
"I will go during lunch, coffee can be postponed for a bit. Sorry, guys."
They all nodded; her foot was getting worse by the minute. When lunch came, she got up and nearly lost her balance.
What a horrible day. She now had to also cough up the money for coffee from her own pocket.
Ayla began wobbling to get them coffee when she was scooped up, and with his scent, she knew who it was.
"Gabby, you will see yourself out."
Gabby! That was his ex.
"But........" Gabby tried to protest.
He began walking towards the elevator. "Put me down, I can walk, please, Sir. I have progressed so much."
"Shut up, Ayla."
She slouched, and they arrived in his office. He sat her down.
"I was really fine, you didn't have to bother yourself."
