We start making our way towards the ruins of a city which was located in the north of Mpya. Along the way I could sometimes catch the bracelet girl glancing at me. She surely like to watch me. I won't bother remembering names of peoples I won't see past today.
At one moment the daggers girl approached me.
" so I heard you are stronger than average humans despite not being a mystic"
" I didn't think you were the type to make idle talk"
" it's just because it's odd . How is it possible? I just wanted to know and it's not like there is anything to do actually. Think of it as a mean to pass time if you want."
" in this case sorry to disappoint you but I don't know. I don't know who I am myself so I can't give you a answer."
"Is it due to amnesia. Are you an alien who came to earth but accidentally hit his head on a stone, and became amnesiac ?"
"Maybe? You have too much imagination. But doctors said that I was perfectly human, and I am not an idiot. But maybe my alien's powers manage to fool every one even me"
" seems you don't lack imagination"
"Surely not"
After that we continued to make idle while I was also observing the landscape. We first passed through a little forest. Apparently it was just a brush before. But with the mutation of plants, it became like this. The plants properties were enhanced. Luckily this forest has already been purged.
Now all that is left is monsters with little danger factor. And non or little dangerous trees and plants.
After walking in the forest for 2h while killing little monsters here and here, we have finally arrived at the ruined city. If it was noble rank mystics it would have took them max 10 min to arrive from the city. And that is for the weakest noble rank taking his time.
This team is made of mid-tier warrior rank with only the leader being peak-tier warrior.
I think to this day the power ranking is:
● Initiate
● Warrior
● General
● Noble
● King
And each rank is divided into Base, Mid,High, Late and Peak tiers.
There are actually 3 known king ranked mystics.
"Hey Mr.nobody stop daydreaming and come give us our gears and some potions, it will become chaotic very soon."
It was the bracelet girl that spoke. But the others seemed to agree with her. So he approached and took the asked items from the large backpack he was carrying. It took them roundly 10 min to prepare and they entered the ruins.
Just as they entered the ruins the already encountered a wolf pack. Wolf didn't really fit in this case. It is said that dogs are descendants of wolves. These monsters looked like dogs evolved to become variants of wolves. It was grey wolves like mutant dogs. Their eyes there of a brilliant red as if they contained the blood of those who dared overestimate themselves and underestimate them. They told the story of death, death in one's own blood. They clearly weren't here to play. Even if it was intriguing to see them here watching their soon to bo victims. What are they possibly watching? What are they thinking about?
Unfortunately we will never the answer to this question because this time it seems that they are the one who overestimated their enemy.
Mere mob-rank monsters with an elite-rank leader. What could they possibly achieve against a all-warrior team?
Directly, after seeing the monsters, the team entered a combat formation. The giant stood the front .he must be the team's tank.
At his side approached the leader with a longsword , must be the main damage dealer.
The bracelet girl and the sly guy stood at the back. She look like a sorceress and him ,he must be a poison user.
Finally the daggers' girl seemed to look for means to use the terrain for the best stealthy attacks. When she found one she turned to him:
"Hey , carrier boy you should stay at the back and take cover. Take good care of our possessions " then not bothering to wait for a reply she too joined the battle.
All this happened before the beats attacked.
Then the elite beast launched a cry. And the battle started. 5 mystics vs 21 beasts.
Normally a mob-rank beast equal a mid-to- late tier Initiate mystic
But these wolves beasts standing at a height of 1m are as strong as peak-tier initiate mystics.
And the elite one bigger than the others has the strength of a peak-tier warrior-rank mystic.
The beasts with their leader at the head rushed towards the team. The leader seemed to give orders to his pack to fist kill those in the back
Before the big one. While he attack the others team leader. Visibly it isn't the first time he fight against a humans team. The blade mark on his face must be a sign of his experience.
"Look like It'll be harder than we thought " the human leader exclaimed
" wait I'll buff every one"
Look like the bracelet girl wasn't so useless as we thought.
The tank profiting of his boost use his skills to create a wall to block the advancing wolves. Profiting of the disorientation caused by the collision.the assassin launch hidden daggers and so 2 wolf's lose their life.
The tank swing his greatsword and the sorceress lauch 2 fire orbes.
This gave enough time for the sly guy to release poison gas. Look like they came prepared .they all have antidote. All but one person who wasn't warned but he had the good idea of going as far as possible from the fight.
The poison made the wolves slower and induced weakness. With these debuffs they soon became lambs to slaughter for their enemy. And their leader wasn't better. It look like aside from money the golden spoon kid had a little talent or was it just better gear? Who knows.
He succeeded in killing the elite wolf.
After that the rest of the journey toward the church wasn't very difficult. There was less monsters than expected.the least that could be said was that it was suspicious.
On the they encountered less than 60 beast but it still took them 1h to reach their destination. It was a old church. It endured better than many of the city buildings but it was still in very bad shape. After a little rest they entered.
Inside an odd sight revealed itself to their eyes. The interior was empty. All except for an altar locted at the extreme back . An altar made entirely of stone.
The bracelet girl was the first to speak
"This church feels creepy. And this altar radiate an eerie energy. Cap where the artifacts you spoke of supposed supposed to be? I don't want to stay here for long"
The leader reply came calm as if he already knew that they will see this.
" stay calm. This church was constructed in the years 1950 there is now 100 years. After the calamity day 15 years ago people refuge themselves here and were helped by the priests. But they were later forced to abandon the church to survive. Later the strongest monsters were cleared but nobody has been in this church for 10 years"
"And I found ancient manuscripts that say that 1000 years ago our ancestors used this very place for offering sacrifices. My dad obtain information from a seer that because of the mutation a long lost artifact has awakened and stronger than ever"
"But in that case we're is the artifact?" It was the assassin that spoke
" to get the artifact a specific action must be performed. This relic is a safricial relic"
This made the sly guy finally speak
" ah ah ah ah I see so it was for this"
The bracelet girl start grinning
Then the leader spoke "carrier boy" the one called approached
"Yes?"
"Thank you for your help it's unfortunate that we have to part ways here"
The others came and formed a circle around him
"What do you mean? Is the contract finish"
This time the punchable face guy spoke
"are you dumb ? Don't you realize. I didn't even like your face from the start it looks kinda punchable "
Realize? Evidently he realized. With his hearing sense how could he not realized?But what could he do.he couldn't possibly outrun them
"Enough catch him"
The big guy approached and grabbed him. He didn't panic ,he didn't fight back ,he just let them immobilize him. He just watched them one by one as if making sure to remember their faces and their souls.
"Good that you are reasonable, go at the other side of the altar. There should be a hole in the ground . We will put him here"
They all walked to the hole and then the giant just push him in it.
