Chapter 298 - Chapter 295: The Giant Serpent

"Then let the Goddess of Death grant you your demise," Hela declared.

Countless stone spikes descended from the sky, piercing through thick clouds and transforming the Serpent's position into a sphere of jagged stone.

A figure clad in black combat gear slowly descended. "I can handle this myself," Erik said, casting a glance at Hela, visibly annoyed that someone had interfered in his fight.

"Is that so? You mean that paper-thin shield around you? It won't withstand attacks infused with divine power," Hela retorted coolly.

Erik remained silent, subtly summoning vibranium hidden beneath the ground. The metal formed several shields that floated around him protectively.

Hela's lips twitched. Was this guy really that wealthy?

"Lorna, move to a safer distance," Erik instructed, eyeing the stone sphere as cracks began to form.

"Alright, Dad. Be careful," Lorna replied with a nod before flying off to a farther location. The current proximity was too dangerous for her.

Erik's lips curled into a smirk, his body surging with newfound strength.

"Where are the others?" he asked.

"They're still on Mars. I flew back alone," Hela answered, conjuring a sharp sword in her hand.

At that moment, a deafening explosion erupted. The stone sphere shattered, sending sharp fragments flying in all directions like deadly projectiles.

An enormous green serpent, exuding a foul stench, materialized before them. Its coiling body slithered like a moving mountain range, each movement triggering violent tremors that wreaked havoc on the city. Skyscrapers crumbled under its onslaught, and clouds of dust billowed into the air.

Simultaneously, the global aura of fear intensified. Some humans with weaker constitutions fainted, and if this continued, humanity itself faced extinction.

This fear only made the Serpent stronger.

"It's futile. No one can kill me except the prophesied son of Odin," the Serpent boasted, opening its massive jaws and unleashing a barrage of powerful energy beams toward Hela.

Faced with such a terrifying assault, Hela didn't dare hesitate. She darted into the air, weaving through the deadly beams with lightning-fast agility.

However, the Serpent had no intention of letting her escape. Its colossal body twisted, and its massive tail swept toward her like a towering pillar.

At that moment, two explosions—one of blinding red flames and another of searing lightning—erupted on either side of the Serpent's head. The sudden, intense impacts left the creature dazed, its massive body swaying uncontrollably.

"What a huge snake! Can I keep it as a pet?" Harley asked, blowing on the muzzle of her gun.

"Forget it. Chino would kill you," Gwen, clad in her Ghost Spider suit, replied with a sigh.

A whistling sound descended from above. A massive metal meteor, the size of a small hill, plummeted toward the ground, crashing heavily onto the Serpent's thick body.

Dust and debris filled the air, and the earth trembled violently. From a distance, several ultra-powerful electromagnetic cannons streaked through the sky, their piercing whistles echoing as they struck the Serpent's head and exposed body parts with pinpoint accuracy.

Each hit triggered a massive explosion, sending flames skyward and engulfing the area in thick smoke. Yet, despite the onslaught, the Serpent remained alive.

Crack, crack—the metal meteor began to tremble, fine cracks spreading across its surface.

"I refuse to believe you'll survive if I cut off your head," Hela declared, charging toward the Serpent's position through the dust.

"Hahaha, I'm joining in!" Harley shouted, wielding a flaming greatsword as she flew toward the Serpent.

Clang, clang! The sound of metal striking scales rang out, accompanied by the gushing of blood.

With two loud thuds, two figures were flung backward like afterimages—one crashing into a skyscraper, the other tumbling into a shop.

The metal meteor finally shattered completely. The Serpent reared up, its body covered in sword and knife wounds, with a gaping hole blasted through its head. Yet, these injuries healed rapidly, and in moments, it was unscathed.

Tom watched the scene unfold through a large screen, his expression grave. What should they do next?

He realized this was a test from their leader, not just for Earth but specifically for the Demon Group. Otherwise, Black Phoenix and Galacta would have intervened already.

However, most of the Demon Group's mutants were currently on missions in the Nine Realms or on Mars. Hulk and Abomination hadn't yet emerged, and Tony's armor was damaged.

Was there something he was overlooking? No matter. The leader trusted him, and he couldn't afford to betray that trust.

Determination flashed in Tom's eyes. "Professor X, how long can you blank out human consciousness, suppressing all emotions completely?"

Charles shook his head. "Not even for a second. Emotions arise from both the body and the soul. Doing so would be no different from killing them. Physical damage can be healed, but soul damage is beyond even the leader's power to repair."

"What if we use this? Could it protect human souls?" Stark asked, holding up Loki's scepter. The Mind Stone had been replaced with the Soul Stone.

"The Soul Stone? I can try," Charles replied. He took the scepter, sat in a chair, and raised it. A brilliant orange light radiated from the scepter, rippling outward like waves, spreading across the globe.

All humans worldwide froze, their movements halting. Their eyes turned vacant, their faces expressionless.

Deprived of its source of fear, the Serpent visibly weakened.

"You lunatics! To defeat me, you'd sacrifice your entire race? How utterly foolish!" the Serpent roared with maniacal laughter. In an instant, it lost all fear energy, and Earth became a desolate wasteland in its eyes.

"Nonsense!" Hela snapped, her sword slashing relentlessly across the Serpent's body.

"Big guy, I love your eyes!" Harley shouted, landing on the Serpent's head. With two swift strikes, she gouged out its massive, emerald-green eyes, each larger than a human head.

"I'll kill you!" the Serpent screamed in agony for the first time, unleashing black lightning that obliterated everything around it.

In the next moment, countless flames erupted across its body, tearing its flesh apart.

From a distance, a fleet of enchanted tanks sped toward the scene—the Demon Weapon Corps. A relentless barrage followed: electromagnetic cannons, enchanted shells, hellfire, thunder cannons, and Hela's stone spikes.

"Roar!" The Serpent bellowed furiously. Though its body continued to regenerate, its size was visibly shrinking.

Unique Quote: "Even a god bleeds when faced with unrelenting defiance."
