Chapter 18 – They
Lanmyth asked her about herself and she replied.
"Please, if you would hear me for once. You won't regret it."
Lanmyth couldn't trust anyone who's associated with the higher beings, but his first encounter with Mother Earth was more or less beneficial, so he let her speak for once.
"I, a fragment of the 'Stained Ruler'." She rested her hands on her knees. "I came here for your team's aid to defeat a large threat."
"What kind of threat?" Lanmyth spoke as Hein silently heard them.
"As you know, I am a part of an omnipotent pillar, so I can't do anything for myself, or the other two might move to stop me from changing the world even the slightest. So I want a strong team's help who can defeat a person before he does something so bad it becomes inevitable for humanity to not face doom!"
"Doom?" Lanmyth's curiosity was larger than his fear.
"Yes! So by all means, I want you guys to help me and defeat this man before the doom happens. Instead, I will give you one fragment on every progress you make!"
Lanmyth's breath sunk for a second as he heard the word 'fragments'.
He knew that she was talking about the compass to reach the place which Sundal mentioned.
"So who is this evil man?"
This was the most important question because it solely would be the foundation for their plan.
"He is an immortal."
An immortal? Wait—An Immortal??
"How are we supposed to kill him if he's a—" Lanmyth calmed down Hein as Hein started asking questions.
"I'll tell you the details. Now just get this. He is an immortal-regressor. Even if you guys successfully manage to kill him, he'll regress a thousand years back."
A thousand years? Isn't that too much?
"He has a contract with Heaven and Hell. And the systems you're all using—are his creation!"
His? How is this possible? Lanmyth's fingers ticked. This information was ridiculous—because how smart, how does an ancient being figure out the system premises of another world unless...
"He can see into your world too. He has all the knowledge of here and there combined. He has regressed 2400 times, each time enduring a thousand years of time. He won't hesitate to do it again."
That means, we have no way to kill him.
"If he'll regress anyway, then how can we even kill him?"
"We don't have to!" The girl flew into the air and turned upside down, brushing off dust on Hein's hair.
"What do you mean?" Lanmyth questioned.
"We only have to trigger his regression. We have to ruin his plan and push him to his limits so he intentionally regresses."
"Then?"
Immortal regressor. This title is terrifying enough for anyone. At first glance, it seems like the person regresses, that's why he is immortal—
but that isn't the case.
The man is actually immortal, and if any deity messes with him and tries to kill him through unique means, he regresses—
which is unlikely.
According to her, he gained his immortality in his 2400th run, so he has never been killed in his immortal state.
"Then, I'll see what to do!"
This seemed suspicious to Lanmyth, because it was—any way you look at it—weird.
If she interferes, she'll awaken the other omnipotents.
"You all have to go and defeat his four knights in different realms to shake his plan. I'll reward every one of you a piece of the compass as a reward."
"And about this system?"
"He created this because he was aware of your reincarnation in this world, hence—"
Lanmyth stopped her and told Hein to look for Zarita.
He wanted Hein not to listen to any of these things, so he gave him an unideal task.
"Continue."
"Well, then he created these systems to use all four of you as means to cultivate more powers."
"So he's a cultivator?"
"Yes."
In summary, all four of them had to defeat a pillar in four realms of this world to weaken the Immortal Regressor and make him regress.
As for further details, she promised them to provide some powers to keep them safe in this deadly world without the powers of the Immortal Regressing Cultivator.
"And about the anomaly we faced recently? Do you know anything about it?"
Lanmyth asked out of pure curiosity, because even though the anomaly was a baby-omnipotent being, it was still a threat—
and his origin was a mystery.
