Watching this scene unfold, Glacia was completely stunned. She hadn't expected Corviknight of the same level to knock out Glalie in a single hit, so she hadn't told Glalie to use Protect right away.
Then before it could even use Protect, Glalie had already lost its ability to battle.
Glacia was the first one eliminated.
How was this possible?
Still standing there in a daze from the shock, Glacia immediately heard Drake's reprimand.
"You've already been eliminated! Why haven't you recalled your Pokémon and left?"
Only then did Glacia snap back to her senses. Regret and unwillingness flashed across her face, but she quickly took out her Poké Ball and recalled her Pokémon before running toward the edge of the field.
Glalie had suffered serious injuries. If it was not treated at a Pokémon Center in time, it might be left with some hidden injuries.
Fortunately, the Pokémon Center was very close to the large battle arena because it had been arranged that way for the convenience of the participating trainers. It was only a short walk away. Otherwise, Glacia's Glalie would have suffered this completely unexpected misfortune for nothing today.
Watching Glacia's hurried departure, Drake withdrew his meaningful gaze. Up to this point, he was very satisfied with the battle.
Glacia had completely ignored her teammates during the fight and released her moves without considering anything else. It was simply too foolish.
This was exactly the kind of harsh lesson needed to knock down some of Glacia's arrogance.
Drake curled the corner of his mouth and shouted toward the sky, "Salamence, use Dragon Cheer!"
Dragon Cheer could raise morale and make all allied Pokémon's moves more likely to land critical hits. The effect was even stronger on Dragon-type Pokémon.
It was a group support move, but it also required enough time to use. Only a few seconds were needed, yet those few seconds might be enough for Corviknight to end the battle with a single attack.
That was also why Drake had been reluctant to have Salamence use the move.
However, after Glacia left the field, the battle arena immediately became much less crowded. With him and Wattson working together in perfect coordination, there was no longer any need to worry about being attacked from behind.
In midair, Salamence spread its pair of blood-red wings and raised its head high.
Seeing this, Shiro naturally would not let the opportunity pass. He issued an order through his psychic powers.
'Corviknight, use Quick Attack, then Drill Peck!'
In an instant, another flash of light streaked across the battlefield.
On the other side, Wattson did not hesitate either. He immediately shouted, "Magneton, use Light Screen!"
Light Screen could greatly reduce the effects of the opponent's special attacks, and it could also be used to protect teammates.
Although Magneton could not use moves such as Thunder Wave to counter Corviknight and could not keep up with its speed at all, it had a wide variety of moves and was extremely proficient with them. That was enough to help Salamence complete this Dragon Cheer.
A pale pink Light Screen quickly rose into place, resembling a transparent wall.
If it were another Elite-level Pokémon of the same level, it might not have been able to break through this defense with a physical move at all.
But standing before it was Corviknight, which already had its attack power boosted three times.
A bird cry suddenly swept across the field.
Crack!
A clear shattering sound came from the Light Screen.
But that was not the most frightening part. What made Wattson's spine turn cold was the fact that even after the Light Screen shattered, he still could not see Corviknight's figure anywhere.
Only one of the Light Screens surrounding Salamence had been destroyed.
"Light Screen! Keep using Light Screen!"
Wattson's urgent command reached Magneton. However, during that brief moment of communication, Magneton had already begun gathering its psychic power… It simply did not have enough time to finish constructing another Light Screen.
Crack!
A second shattering sound rang out as the Light Screen broke apart.
Magneton, which was still constructing the next Light Screen, was also struck hard by Corviknight. Its steel beak spun against Magneton's steel body until the Pokémon let out a pained cry.
Wattson quickly recalled Magneton into its Poké Ball.
As an experienced veteran trainer, he would never foolishly stand there and take Corviknight's full attack the way Glacia had.
This was purely a friendly battle, well, it could be considered a friendly battle. There was no reason to let a Pokémon get injured for nothing because of it. The outcome did not matter. It was only a spar.
If a Pokémon was hit by a move, shouldn't it be recalled into its Poké Ball? Wasn't that common sense?
Wattson knew this common sense very well. It had already become muscle memory for him.
But now, although Salamence had successfully used Dragon Cheer, it was completely exposed and facing a vicious-looking Corviknight head-on.
Yet Drake showed no panic at all. Instead, he looked as though victory was already within his grasp.
Yes, Corviknight was incredibly fast and had tremendous attack power.
If this had been a battle in the wild, Drake might have been defeated in a single exchange before even getting through one round.
But this was a battlefield with a limited area. More importantly, they did not have just one Pokémon here.
After Salamence finished using Dragon Cheer, even Corviknight's body couldn't withstand a full-powered critical-hit move from Salamence, especially one with such tremendous power like… Hyper Beam!
As long as this Hyper Beam landed, the situation could be reversed instantly.
Of course, before that happened, they still needed a little cooperation from the other Pokémon on the field.
All they needed was for someone to briefly draw Corviknight's attention.
Yes, exactly. Scrafty had the crucial move they needed, Taunt!
All they needed was one well-timed Taunt.
Even if Sidney was poor at giving orders and lacked courage, Drake could take over and command for him.
"Taunt! Sidney, use Taunt! Have Scrafty use Taunt!"
Drake shouted three times. His hopeful gaze swept toward the place where Sidney should have been.
"Taunt..."
However, he was stunned.
There was no one there. Naturally, there was no Pokémon either.
Drake didn't have time to worry about anything else. He quickly turned his head and searched the field again.
Yet in this enormous battle arena, he could not find Sidney or his Scrafty anywhere.
"Sidney, where is Sidney?"
Drake finally lost control of his emotions and roared, "Where the hell did that bastard Sidney run off to?!"
"Where is he?!"
He was absolutely, one hundred percent certain that Sidney hadn't been defeated by Corviknight.
He hadn't even faced Corviknight once. He hadn't even looked at it.
Where the hell was he?
Faced with this question that had driven Drake into a rage, only Wattson silently sighed. He slowly raised a finger and pointed toward the spectator stands.
Drake followed his gaze and froze.
Scrafty was sitting in the spectator stands with Sidney. The two of them were watching the show.
When faced with Drake's furious stare, Scrafty became a little embarrassed. It shyly pulled up its belly to cover its face, while Sidney behind it hugged his head and hid beneath the railing of the spectator stands.
Sidney actually hadn't wanted to leave the battlefield either, but he simply couldn't pull Scrafty back.
Scrafty had dragged him straight over to the spectator stands. What else could he do?
