"Now that's more like it..."
Drake reached up and rubbed his neck before twisting it from side to side. He then took out a Poké Ball.
He had already lost to Shiro in Littleroot Town, making him the one among the Elite Four who understood Shiro's strength the best.
Aside from the Gengar that the League had been boasting about, the one capable of Mega Evolving to the Champion-level, Shiro's signature Corviknight was already one of the strongest Elite-level Pokémon.
On top of that, Shiro also had a Dragon-type pseudo-legendary. If he really released his Mega Gengar, the Hoenn Elite Four would almost certainly lose.
If it was simply Elite-level Pokémon against Elite-level Pokémon, however, the four of them still had a good chance of winning.
Shiro might be the Champion of Galar and incredibly strong, but could he really defeat all four of them?
Besides, this wasn't a normal Pokémon battle where the trainers stood on a raised platform. The battlefield was still an old-fashioned one, where the rules required trainers and Pokémon to fight together. Everyone was on the battlefield, making it more like a real battle in the wild.
With the trainers also on the field, they could simply attack the opposing trainer if necessary. Four against one gave them a huge advantage.
Drake was already getting old, but he was still someone who enjoyed fierce battles.
"Since you've restricted the Pokémon to the Elite-level, let's limit the number of Pokémon as well." Glacia spoke up. "I don't want to win too quickly."
"Shiro, the four of us will each use only one Pokémon. You can use two at the same time. How about it?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Drake and Sidney looked over in disbelief.
Among the Hoenn Elite Four, only Drake and Wattson were Elite-level trainers. Glacia actually had only one Elite-level Pokémon. As for Sidney, he didn't have a single Elite-level Pokémon. He was purely a Gym-level trainer.
Under these circumstances, Shiro's strength was already greater than any one of them. When facing all four at once, there was an obvious weak point in their formation, and that was Sidney.
If Shiro focused on beating Sidney, Drake and Wattson might have to spare some attention to protect him.
Without Glacia adding this restriction, Sidney had six Gym-level Pokémon. He could simply run to the edge of the battlefield at the start of the battle and wait there. He wouldn't need to fight at all.
But if Sidney was left with only one Pokémon, then things would become very dangerous.
The restriction was quite beneficial to Glacia herself, though. If everyone only had one Elite-level Pokémon, she could shift from supporting the others to becoming one of the main attackers.
In Drake's eyes, this battle between the Hoenn Elite Four and the Galar Champion was basically just a show for Glacia and Sidney. The real battle against Shiro would be fought by himself and Wattson.
But this condition...
Before Drake could think it through, Shiro readily agreed. "That's fine. We might have to move into action soon anyway. This way, we can preserve everyone's strength and keep the battle from having too much of an impact. We can also end the fight as quickly as possible."
Hearing this, Drake no longer had any intention of objecting.
Glacia gave a soft snort after receiving his agreement, a trace of pride appearing on her face.
"There's no need to talk about battling anymore, right?" Shiro took out his Poké Ball.
"Of course!"
At the same time as Drake's voice rang out, he threw his Poké Ball high into the air. Dazzling red light flashed as five voices rang out almost simultaneously.
"Salamence!"
"Corviknight!"
"Magneton!"
"Glalie!"
"Scrafty!"
Five Pokémon emerged from their Poké Balls almost at the same time.
The instant the red light flashed, Shiro immediately retreated dozens of meters while shouting his command.
"Corviknight! Quick Attack, then Hone Claws!"
He wanted to defeat these four Elite Four members as quickly as possible and crush them before they had a chance to react.
The suspicions of the four Elite Four members, the things Drake was hiding, the connection between Devon Corporation and the Hoenn League, and the goals of Team Aqua and Team Magma... Perhaps he could find some clues by defeating them. Perhaps he couldn't. It didn't matter.
As long as he was certain that he possessed absolute strength, he would simply fight his way through whatever obstacles appeared before him.
In the sky, a streak of incredibly fast gray lightning flashed across the battlefield.
A faint gray glow could be seen within the lightning, gradually becoming brighter and more dazzling.
The other four Pokémon were startled by its speed and quickly retreated in different directions. They instinctively kept dodging as the gray streak repeatedly moved around them.
Corviknight was simply too fast. It darted back and forth around the four Pokémon, moving so quickly that they couldn't even see or touch it. They were also afraid that they would be caught off guard and attacked.
Wattson was just about to issue an order when he suddenly frowned deeply.
If his Magneton were facing Corviknight's speed alone, it could use moves such as Thunder Wave to create an electric field and slow Corviknight down.
But there were three other Pokémon here who were allies. The electricity spreading everywhere could easily injure them as well.
Glacia gritted her teeth and found herself in the same predicament.
However, she refused to give in and shouted, "Glalie! Use Icy Wind!"
"Glai!"
The round-headed Glalie opened its wide, demon-like black mouth and blasted out a freezing gust of wind. The Icy Wind did not distinguish between friend and foe as it surged straight ahead through the air.
Salamence shuddered when it felt the cold and had no choice but to soar higher into the sky to avoid it.
Magneton also had no choice but to move farther away.
Scrafty went even further. It grabbed its trainer, Sidney, and dragged him toward the edge of the battlefield.
"Glacia! Stop it!" Drake shouted in frustration.
But Glacia acted as if she hadn't heard him and continued shouting on her own.
"Glalie! Its speed has slowed down. Keep using Icy Wind!"
Glalie immediately began blasting out even more freezing wind.
Since the cold wind covered a wide area, Corviknight, which was facing the attack directly in midair, was inevitably affected. Its speed was reduced somewhat, but it didn't suffer any real damage.
More importantly, during those few dozen seconds, Corviknight had already used Hone Claws three times!
Using a move to increase its abilities while moving at high speed was something Corviknight had been training recently. By now, it could use the technique with great skill.
Seeing that the opponents had already become somewhat disorganized, Shiro couldn't help but shake his head. He then ordered sternly.
"Corviknight! Aerial Ace!"
A beautiful streak of light swept across the sky above the battlefield. Like a swallow in flight, Corviknight rapidly closed in on Glalie from an angle and at a speed that the others had no way of intercepting.
"Watch out!"
Glacia's warning came too late.
Glalie had just stopped using Icy Wind and was turning its gaze from side to side to deal with the incoming attack when Corviknight's iron beak struck it precisely from behind.
Glalie let out a cry of pain in midair. A strange cracking sound seemed to come from its body, and then it fell straight down from the sky.
