Chapter 16 - The Clone Vampire Army

Life As the Vampire God Chapter 16 - The Clone Vampire Army

Today's date is 583 AD, the 7th of November! Time really does fly. It has been approximately one-hundred thirty years since the unexpected attack by Alex (Alexander the Nephbion) and Sermoff. I don't know why this particular memory popped into my head just now. In any event, I'm in a creative mood so where better to fulfill both my creativity and brainstorm than in the Forge Room located directly beneath The Power Core. I am currently forging bracelets, five in total, one for each of my trusted Generals. These are similar to mine, but they will not have a super form. In fact, I was replacing my special jeweler's torch to its proper slot when the forge elevator alerted me with a ding-ding-ding sequence which let me know that the passenger had used a special access code to gain entry not only to the elevator but, also, held a currently active security clearance to enter the forge area period.

The doors silently swished open revealing Joseph Klein, my first general. Our eyes locked a nanosecond before three things occurred simultaneously: Joseph stepped out of the elevator; the doors closed behind him as I tossed him the bracelet inscribed in cursive: Joseph Klein. Now the cool part, before my general whose reaction time is almost instantaneous found himself looking down at his partially raised hand wrist area admiring his new bracelet, already comfortably resting on his tanned wrist. I do love it when a plan, rather MY plan comes flawlessly together.

"What, my moons, how in the world?" he muttered and stuttered. Eyes wide, and obviously internally questioning what had just transpired.

I interjected quickly, "calm down, it's like my bracelet except without a super form." That seemed to do the trick. He grinned, winked at me in a 'that's cool, Bro' (obviously that's not a current term in 583AD but occasionally a 2005 slang creeps into my thought processes). He proceeded to turn his bracelet into a diamond Sword. The diamonds sparkled like the brightest stars in the sky, they even overshadowed the intense light coming from the molten hot fires in the forges nearby. Joseph smiled over at me. I returned his smile with one of my own. And in that instant, he was once again wearing his new bracelet.

He motioned to me, "come on Draven."

"Where?" I was naturally curious.

He kept us moving along. "To the cloning factories underneath Easlum. It has been over one-hundred years since you have been down there." He gently chided then quickly added, "plus, Attila has a surprise for you!"

I do NOT like surprises. "What is it?"

Joseph paused. "Draven, seriously, I know you could force me to tell you like you kinda just did, but it was more of a question than a command." Joseph shook his head, "let's just say that it would be better for everyone who has planned this." His eyes turned steely and added, "and for you."

"Fine." I managed through grit teeth.

Joseph continued, oblivious of my displeasure or more than likely, ignoring my current foul mood. "By the way, I've received an update a little bit ago regarding the population entering Easlum."

I nodded in acquiescence and bit out, "go ahead."

"Apparently and according to our most recent data, we're very popular," Joseph hesitated then blurted out an insane number, "around 240,000,000 people enter Easlum each year!"

I had to wrap my mind around the astronomical amount a moment before speaking. And, when I did, I would not win any oratory contests. "WOW, that's a lot of people!"

"That's the problem," Joseph was blunt, he never sugar coated anything.

"Why is this a problem, Joseph?"

"Because that's more people entering Easlum than the total population alive on Earth at this very moment in time."

"Wait, what? How? Is there a leak somewhere?"

"Draven, that's what's been baffling both myself and the scientists," he paused and continued, "which is why it is crucial that you check on the Clone Army. Now!" He emphasized.

"Agreed."

Joseph pushed a highly polished brass button next to the elevator. The doors silently opened, we both stepped into the elevator in unison. The doors closed as silently as they had opened. Our descent had begun. At this point I pivoted around and realized that the elevator was mostly made of something which looked like glass, but I imagine it was a special substance which would withstand almost anything, at least that was what I was hoping. The view was outstanding. I would never admit it out loud but having the elevator designed in such a way that it hugged the side of the structure, hanging like an open moving leech for everyone to view. And speaking of views, I could see most of the city, the vast training fields, then the fields disappeared behind the wall that separates the training fields from my palace. All of a sudden it got darker as we went into an elevator tunnel and the elevator's speed dramatically increased. We were in the tunnel for about 2 minutes then the speed went back to normal when we emerged.

"It's at least 20 times bigger," I exclaimed.

If you thought the Capital of Easlum was big, then think again. There were massive facilities, living quarters, and many other things floating in the air. Last time I was down here it was like 1/20th of the size. How I knew this, was because the last time I was here, I could immediately see the floor. This time I couldn't. Even at the 1/20th size was about 5 Easlum Capitals.

I continued to look around for about 5 minutes and now I can finally see the ground. I tilted my head slightly upward and I watched about 500 vampires gliding effortlessly past our location heading to the area where our elevator was heading. They opened their parachutes and slowly descended downward in a totally synchronized maneuver. No matter where I looked, I could see thousands of vampires. "By the way," Joseph proclaimed, "Thank you for allowing me to oversee all aspects of Easlum. I know I'm the weakest general because you recruited me as a mere mortal but," he smiled broadly then added, "I'm the smartest."

The elevator finally stopped at the ground level. The doors opened, we both stepped out onto my vampire symbol, which was a black and red face, open mouth with fangs. Joseph moved forward and quickly assessed the group of vampires who had just landed. They were already in ranks. I noticed that there were 2 hovering in front, these 2 must be the cloned Counts; they looked exactly the same. The crowd stared at Joseph and bowed their heads, thereby, showing proper respect.

"All hail Joseph," the crowd chanted. As if on cue, one thousand pairs of eyes looked at me and knelt down, placing their right knee onto the ground.

"All Hail Emperor Draven!" The crowd chanted.

They all stood upright in one swift movement.

I looked at Joseph. He really looked like he wanted to say something. "What is it?" I asked.

"Well," Joseph started, "These 2 Counts are cloned versions of the original Count, and the original Count got turned into a Count by me."

I stared at him. "Really." At a loss for words, I just shook my head, trying not to laugh. I couldn't hurt his feelings, at least not at this moment. He was too pleased with his "Count cloning" achievement.

Joseph replied, "Absolutely, yes."

The Count on my left stopped hovering, he walked up to Joseph and whispered in his ear. For some reason I couldn't hear him. The Count then backed up to his spot and started hovering again. Joseph looked at me then began his prepared speech.

"Housed in this massive facility are 10.2 trillion fully trained soldiers ready for the battlefield with many more in the cloning process as I speak. I know it's a lot, but Lucifer has more people in Hell than this. In addition, any type of weaponry, machines and devices you can think of, we have."

While Joseph was speaking, my peripheral vision picked up on Attila walking down the middle aisle in between the two ranks followed by someone I could not see. I heard Joseph's intake of breath before he told me, "Stay where you are."

Surprised, I decided to go along with wherever this scene was going and muttered under my breath a barely audibly sarcastic, "if I must." I had never seen Attila acting so giddy. Something was amiss and I was without a clue as to what it might be. Two actions happened at once. Joseph finished his spiel, Attila stopped walking, and grinned stupidly at me while proclaiming, "Do I have a surprise for you." He stepped aside and for the first time I caught of sight of the mystery figure.

Standing before me was the most gorgeous woman that I had ever laid my eyes upon, ever! I had to keep reminding myself to stand straight like this effect me. I was being watched after all.

Her medium length semi-wavey hair was the color of the blackest raven feathers, glistening in the light of the cloning factory. Her eyes, oh my stars, moons, suns, they were a vivid electric blue-violet color, actually shining brighter than the most expensive perfectly faceted rare tanzanite gemstone which is mined in only one place on Earth, Tanzania Africa. I had to keep on reminded myself to stay cool. I have never felt this nervous in my life.

She stood ramrod straight, all 5-feet 4-inches of her. I'm 6-feet 2-inches. I chuckled inside thinking. 'she'll always have to look up at me.' Who was I kidding! Her skin, it was flawless and pale but with a subtle radiance which made her ravishingly healthy, strong and vibrant looking, not a fragile porcelain creature who would break into millions of pieces. Whoa, my rattled mind was going in all directions. I finally noticed her outfit. I shook my head slightly to try and clear my thoughts. Was this a fashion show?

Easlum did have a clothing line that needed to be launched on Earth. This creature of perfection was wearing the latest in designs that had been sent to me months back. In fact, I had liked the drawings. I didn't have any reservations about giving that department the go ahead to start production. Stay cool Draven, stay cool, Draven, I reminded myself. And now, one of the designs I had approved was standing before me, showcased around a body any normal man would go to battle for and fight to their deaths.

Where do I start? Well, my safest route would be to treat this reveal as a study in the presentation of Easlum's Summer Collection for Earth. The drop dead gorgeous, take my breath away model is dressed in an Easlum designed and manufactured crop top made from the finest, softest woven cotton fibers known their ability to gently caress the skin of its wearer. And in this particular style, the top presents a plunging V-neck which gives its wearer just enough of an open area to reveal the cleavage of perfectly formed breasts then snugly covering a sleek ribcage stopping at the bottom of the ribcage. Moving downward her flat stomach, small waist was exposed along with her slim hips upon which rested more Easlum designer clothes. This time a pair of black jeans shorts, not short shorts but a high-thigh length covered her tight rounded bottom yet teasingly exposing her long shapely legs. Her shoes, a Roman style sandal made from soft black calf leather, were handmade in Easlum completed her look. I didn't know where to look. Attila saved me.

"Her name is Leyna, the goddess of love." Attila's eyes were twinkling with amusement.

"Part of which group of gods?" I asked as I was still looking at Leyna with couriosity.

"That's the thing," he responded, "she's not part of any group. Popped up out of nowhere about 50 years or so ago."

I looked back at her, and she nodded. I was calmer now. She turned her head a little so that she faced Attila. Attila looked back at her. They both kept staring at each other which really made the situation weird (even for me). Finally, Attila broke the silence.

"Ooohhhh, you want me to leave, no problem. Joseph," he yelled. "Get back to what you were doing before this!"

"All right," Joseph acknowledged. "Everyone, return to your duties," he ordered.

The small army turned around and ran in the other direction. The Counts flew to the front of the group. Attila and Joseph took off, both going in separate directions. Leyna approached and stopped when she was 5 feet away from me.

"So, you're Draven," she said in a perfectly modulated voice. Her smile revealed arctic white teeth. She scanned me up and down. "You're taller than I expected."

I laughed. She turned around with her back towards me.

"Even after being down here for 40 years, I still can't wrap my mind around that this actually exists." She reflected.

"You've been down here for over 40 years?" I asked, totally dumbfounded.

She turned around. "Yes, I was only 10 years old when I arrived here, looking like this," she motioned her hands across her body. She continued, "I looked like this when I was born as well."

"Then that means you were created, but by whom?" I asked.

"I don't know," she answered, sounding a bit sad.

"Well, anyway, you've been down here for 40 years, and nobody told me."

"Well, I told them not too."

I raised my left eyebrow.

"What, my power allows me to be convincing. Like, let me show you. She took a deep breath. "Bow to me," she commanded. I felt a slight urge to bow and even moved slightly but I continued to stand there.

"I guess you are too powerful for it to work on you." She stated.

"It would appear so," I agreed.

"I also don't think I'll need to convince you to allow me to hang around in your palace," she commented.

I don't know," I jokingly said, "do you think that you can be fun."

"I think I can be fun," she said with a smile, "but you won't find out if you won't allow me to stay. You also won't know if anything else fun could happen."

"Like what?" I asked with a slight smile.

"I guess you'll have to find out," she said with a smirk while her eyes glowed pink for a moment.

Mirroring her words, I replied. "I guess now I'm forced to allow you to stay," I said with a full smile, "and welcome you as a member of my empire." I bowed but it was because I wanted to appear chivalrous not because of her previous powers experiment. Or was it?
