RONAN
The lightning struck.
My vision blurred at the impact. Pain spread through my entire body, locking my muscles. Everything around me went dark, pulling me into a deep slumber.
I woke up to the sound of muffled moans, cutting through the haze in my head. I placed a hand against my throbbing skull before pushing myself up against the floor-to-ceiling window behind me.
An icy gust of wind slapped me in the face. There was a gigantic opening in the wall to my left. This must be where the weather spat us out.
The metallic taste of blood lingered in my mouth. I hope the injuries I picked up weren't too serious. The last thing I wanted was to become a liability.
I carefully took in my surroundings. My blood ran cold as I examined the abandoned building I found myself in.
Hailey-Jade.
I had to get to her. I had to make sure she was safe.
