Hai Zhong swam to the main gates with Fu Ling holding onto him.
The guards straightened up when they noticed someone coming but relaxed somewhat when they recognized who it was.
"Your majesty"
Hai Zhong nodded slightly and sawn in leaving the guards looking at each other in surprise. Why didn't they know the king went out of the city?
They shrugged and continued guarding the gates.
Hai Zhong swan slowly making sure to pass the most populated area before getting to the palace. News traveled fast and before they even reached the palace, everyone knew the king was coming back with a human.
The elders were already positioned at the palace gates waiting.
Elder Orvian, the oldest among them, stepped forward, his eyes sweeping over Fu Ling with scrutiny.
"Your majesty, who is this?"
Hai Zhong's tone was calm.
"This is Fu Ling. He is my lover."
