"This is stupid," Sang-hun said.
Lim Dong-wook didn't look up. He was sitting on an upturned crate at the top of the north watchtower with his feet up on the railing, watching the dark tree line at the bottom of the mountain, the way he had every night for the last two months.
"You said that an hour ago," he said.
"It was stupid an hour ago too." Yoo Sang-hun was pacing, which was hard to do on a watchtower barely big enough for two people. Three steps one way. Three steps back. "Do you know how long it's been since I slept in my own bed? Four days. Four. First the gates, and now this. Double shifts. Every wall, every tower, all night. Because of a post."
"Because of the post," Dong-wook agreed.
"Written by nobody. With no name on it. With fake pictures." Sang-hun stopped and threw his arms out at the night. "Look. Look at it. Do you see any legendary monsters? Do you see a single thing out there that isn't a tree?"
