Layla woke up the following morning with one thing on her mind.
Her powers.
She had barely slept the previous night. Every time she closed her eyes, she remembered the tiny purple light that had appeared beneath her bracelet. It had lasted only a second, but she was certain she hadn't imagined it.
What bothered her most was that she had no idea what it meant.
She sat up in bed and examined her wrist.
The bracelet looked as ordinary as ever.
"You're not going to tell me anything, are you?" she muttered, staring at it.
Of course, the bracelet didn't answer.
Layla sighed and rubbed her face.
She had been told that she was part demon and part witch. Logan had spoken about her powers as though they were something she should naturally be able to use, but nobody had explained how she was supposed to access them.
She raised her hand and concentrated.
Nothing happened.
She tried again, squeezing her eyes shut this time.
Still nothing.
"Oh, come on!"
