Chapter 28 - Chapter 1: The Beginning of Training

As John Doe piloted his plane and arrived at the Kame House, located deep within the vast ocean, he just made it in time for dinner with Master Roshi and the others.

The sound of the plane's engines alerted Master Roshi, Goku, Krillin, and Launch, who were having dinner inside the house. They all put down their bowls and chopsticks and rushed out.

Upon seeing John, Goku immediately exclaimed, "Haha, John, you're here!"

Krillin shrugged nonchalantly, knowing the reason for John's visit, while the blue-haired Launch looked on curiously.

John greeted Goku and then approached Master Roshi, bowing slightly as he said, "Master Roshi, I wish to learn martial arts from you starting today."

Master Roshi observed John and noticed that his physical condition had indeed undergone a complete transformation since the last time he saw him. Even compared to Goku, whom he considered a prodigy, John seemed to have an edge.

Of course, physical attributes were not the sole determinant of one's martial arts prowess, but they were undoubtedly a crucial factor.

Having already agreed to take John as his disciple, Master Roshi would not go back on his word. However, this didn't mean he would easily agree to take on a new student. He turned to the others and said, "You guys go back inside and continue eating. I need to speak with John privately."

As he spoke, Master Roshi pulled John aside and asked, "Did you bring any gifts for your master when you came to seek apprenticeship?"

"I can tell you right now that I have no gifts. I won't accept you as my disciple and teach you martial arts without a gift."

John was speechless. He had delayed his arrival, hoping to avoid helping to find a girl, but it seemed he couldn't escape it after all.

Fortunately, John had prepared some gifts just in case. He said, "Master, please wait a moment. I'll get it for you."

After saying this, John walked over to his plane, took out a package, and from it, he pulled out a capsule box. He retrieved a capsule from inside and handed it to Master Roshi.

"Master, this is a gift I specially prepared for you," John said, "I chose it carefully, and I'm sure all men will like it. You know what I mean!" He winked at Master Roshi.

Master Roshi took the capsule from John and, with a lecherous smile, said, "You truly understand your master's thoughts. Age does bring wisdom; your understanding is indeed impressive compared to Goku, who is too naive."

Master Roshi pocketed the capsule and said to John, "Let's go. Pack up your plane and luggage, and we'll go inside for dinner."

Seeing that Master Roshi had finally agreed to take him as his disciple, John happily agreed. He transformed his plane back into a capsule and placed it in the capsule box, then followed Master Roshi into the house with his luggage.

The next morning, after breakfast, Master Roshi tidied up the house and transformed it into a capsule. He then took John and the others on an air cushion vehicle to a nearby large island.

Launch stayed behind to prepare dinner, while Master Roshi took the others out and said, "Before formal training begins, I need to test you."

After surveying the surroundings, he pointed to a stone in front of him and said, "From this stone to that tree, the distance is about a hundred meters. I'll test your speed now."

"Speed is crucial; if you can outrun your opponent, you have a better chance of escaping if you can't defeat them."

"If you can't beat your opponent, your speed can help you escape. Only by staying alive can you become a true martial artist."

"Who wants to go first?" Master Roshi looked at John and the others.

Krillin confidently stepped forward and said, "I'll go first." He positioned himself at the base of the tree.

Master Roshi took out a stopwatch and shouted, "Begin!"

As soon as Master Roshi gave the signal, Krillin sprinted through the hundred-meter distance. Master Roshi checked the time and said, "Ten seconds. Not bad."

Krillin proudly replied, "My personal best is ten seconds flat."

Next up was Goku. Despite his awkward starting posture, he sprinted at an incredible speed, breaking the existing world record for the 100-meter dash.

Krillin and Master Roshi were both astonished. They couldn't believe that such a young child could run so fast.

Last to take the test was John, who was eager to see how powerful he had become since acquiring his new body.

John got into position, and as soon as Master Roshi gave the signal, he dashed forward. With a whoosh, he crossed the finish line in just under nine seconds, leaving Goku and Krillin in awe.

Master Roshi, pleased with the speed of his new disciples, decided to set them a new goal. He said, "John, time me. I'll show you what I can do."

Master Roshi removed his heavy turtle shell and walked to the 100-meter mark. As John signaled the start, Master Roshi sprinted through the finish line at an incredible speed.

John checked the time and was amazed to see it was 10.6 seconds. Krillin and Goku looked at Master Roshi with admiration.

Master Roshi smiled and said, "Did you see that? This is the speed that surpasses ordinary humans. Over the next few months of training, I'll temper your willpower and strengthen your bodies until you can surpass me."

Krillin looked at Master Roshi with anticipation and asked, "Master, can we really surpass you?"

Master Roshi replied, "Of course, I have faith in you, and you should have faith in yourselves. Starting tomorrow, we'll begin formal training."

By this time, the sky had gradually darkened. Master Roshi said, "It's getting late; we should prepare to head back for dinner. But before we go, there's one more test."

Master Roshi picked up a stone and wrote the character 'turtle' on it. He then threw it into the forest on the mountain and said, "Go and find the stone with the character on it within thirty minutes. Those who find it will have dinner, and those who don't or exceed the time limit will go hungry."

After saying this, Master Roshi didn't pay any more attention to John and the others. He happily made his way back to the Kame House.

Looking at the sheer depth of the cliff, Goku and John exchanged glances and simultaneously jumped off the cliff.

Krillin, however, chose to take the long way around after assessing the height of the cliff. In his eyes, the other two were fools, and he was just an ordinary human.
