Chapter 33 - "I learn fast."

The next day in morning, Akane woke up with a loud yawn. Opening his eyes, he looked around and the memories of the yesternight's dream came into his mind.

"Last night was wild," Akane murmured as he thought of the memories and events that happened in the dream. He looked up to the entrance of the tent and saw Tsunade entering inside.

"Let's go, we have a lot of work to do today."

Saying those words, Tsunade was about to leave, but Akane stopped her and said, "About last night..."

"Shut up, I don't want to hear anything about that."

As soon as Tsunade heard the words, she understood what he was about to say and instantly said those words. There was a blush on her face as she thought of last night.

Even though nothing sexual, or maybe a few sexual things, happened in the dream, Tsunade still felt a bit embarrassed about the dares she did and the acts Akane asked her to do.

Hearing her words, Akane was about to say something, but when he looked at her red ears, he understood she was feeling embarrassed about it. A laugh escaped his lips, and hearing his laughter, Tsunade left the tent with an annoyed hmph.

Sometime later, Akane walked out of the tent and, following Tsunade's chakra, he reached her place and saw her reading reports.

"What should I do?" Akane asked as he went beside her, and saw Tsunade giving him a few papers. Taking it, Akane looked at the paper and heard Tsunade say, "Complete these reports and check them while I am doing others."

Nodding at her words, Akane looked at the details written on the pages and looked around. The numbers were written on the pages, and he walked through the medical tent, his eyes scanning the rows of beds lined up neatly, each occupied by a wounded shinobi.

The scent of antiseptic and herbs filled the air, mixed with the faint smell of blood. He glanced down at the papers in his hand, searching for the first patient on his list.

Stopping beside the first bed, Akane looked at the injured shinobi. The man had bandages wrapped tightly around his abdomen, a few bloodstains seeping through. His breathing was steady but laboured. Looking at the details on the paper, Akane noted that the man had suffered deep lacerations from a sword strike and had undergone emergency treatment the previous night.

"How are you feeling?" Akane asked, his voice still laced with concern.

The man turned his head slightly, eyes half-lidded with exhaustion. "Still alive, I guess. Hurts like hell, though."

Akane smirked. "That just means you're still breathing. Good sign."

He glanced at the notes Tsunade had given him. The man's condition had been stabilised, but he needed further monitoring to prevent infection. Placing his hand lightly over the bandages, Akane channelled a small amount of healing chakra, checking the wound's internal state. The muscles were knitting together, but there were signs of internal bruising.

"You're healing well, but you need to rest. If you push yourself too soon, the wound might reopen," Akane warned.

The shinobi scoffed. "Not like I have much of a choice. Can't even sit up without feeling like I got stabbed again."

Akane chuckled. "Take it easy. Tsunade-Hime will kill you if you mess up her treatment."

Leaving the first patient with a small nod, Akane moved to the next bed. This one housed a younger shinobi, barely in his late teens, his leg heavily wrapped in splints. His face was pale, and beads of sweat clung to his forehead. The notes indicated a fractured femur due to a high-impact fall during battle.

Akane crouched beside him. "Hey, how's the leg?"

The boy winced. "Hurts… a lot. I can't move it."

Akane placed his hand over the leg, carefully infusing chakra to examine the extent of the damage. The bone had been set properly, but the healing was slow. He adjusted the splints slightly and applied a soothing chakra pulse to ease the pain.

"You'll be fine," Akane reassured him. "The fracture is clean, so with some rest and chakra therapy, you'll be back on your feet in a week or two."

The boy gave a weak smile. "Thanks."

Akane stood up, stretching slightly before moving on. He continued checking on patients, treating minor wounds, and ensuring the more critical ones were stable. By the time he finished his rounds, the sun had fully risen, casting warm golden light through the flaps of the tent.

Walking back to Tsunade, he handed her the completed reports. She glanced at him, an eyebrow raised. "Done already?"

Akane smirked. "I learn fast."

Tsunade hummed as she looked through the reports, nodding slightly. "Not bad. You didn't mess anything up."

Akane grinned. "Of course not. I'd rather not face your wrath."

She rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the slight smile on her lips. "Good. Because we've got more work to do."

Akane nodded at her words and saw her getting up. He looked at her with a questioning expression, and Tsunade said, "Follow me, let's check the patient from before."

Akane thought of the Iwa ninjas and asked, "Are you gonna ask him about that?"

"No, just checking up. Rest will be done by him," Tsunade said with a thoughtful face, and Akane nodded at her words. They walked to the tent where the patient was resting, and Akane noticed people eyeing them but then looking away when their gazes met.

In between, Akane looked at various people coming to Tsunade to ask about various things, and Tsunade answered them one by one patiently. A few of them were thrown at him, and Akane answered them, making his image better in everyone's mind.

As time passed, the rumours about Akane started to spread in camp, and Commander Nara heard all the rumours while adding details to Akane's profile list.
