"Ve Na Ve Na ~ Ve Na Na ~" (We don't know what Pokémon it is, but as soon as it appeared, it transformed this barren land into what you see today)
"Ve Na ~ Ve Na Ve Na ~ Ve Na ~" (However, it used to return to this place regularly to rest, but it hasn't come back for several months now. We would like to ask you to find it and tell us if you discover any news about its whereabouts.)
"Ding! Venusaur has sent you a request. You have triggered a long-term hidden quest: Find a certain Pokémon!"
"Quest content: Find the benefactor of the Venusaur clan. Locate this Pokémon or gather relevant information to complete the task."
After Venusaur finished making its request, Eddie immediately received notification of the long-term hidden quest through his system interface.
However, he found himself confused at this moment, because he couldn't determine which Pokémon Venusaur was referring to.
To be honest, there was more than one Pokémon with the ability to purify and revitalize the environment.
Take Celebi, for example - wherever Celebi travels, trees grow lush and flowers bloom in abundance.
The same principle applied to Shaymin. Whenever it appeared, it would transform barren landscapes into beautiful flower fields filled with vibrant blooms.
Even Suicune possessed a similar ability - the power to purify water sources. After it completed its purification process, the areas irrigated by those water sources, particularly forests, would flourish and become more verdant than before.
"Venusaur, can you describe what this Pokémon looks like?"
Eddie wasn't entirely certain about the identity of the mysterious Pokémon. According to his understanding, ordinary Pokémon might possess some environmental abilities, but if the situation was exactly as Venusaur described it, this was most likely a legendary Pokémon.
When it came to legendary Pokémon, only the three species that Eddie had just considered possessed such remarkable environmental restoration capabilities.
"Ve Na Ve Na ~ Ve Na Na ~" (Green, small, capable of flying)
Venusaur was, after all, a Pokémon. Even though Eddie could communicate with them through his unique gift, it could only describe things using basic human adjectives and concepts.
"Okay, at least we can rule out Suicune, which leaves us with Shaymin and Celebi as possibilities."
If it turned out to be Shaymin, that would be manageable. Eddie suspected that such a Pokémon was probably traveling around looking for places that needed purification, or perhaps it had gotten lost. In a more serious scenario, it might have been captured by someone with questionable intentions.
If it turned out to be Celebi, Eddie acknowledged that he couldn't do much about the situation. He would need to wait several more years and then venture into the forests of the Johto Region to search for it.
"Regardless, this long-term hidden quest doesn't have a time limit, so I should accept it."
Eddie reasoned this way. Unless a quest had a strict deadline or seemed impossibly difficult, he would accept it as a normal part of his adventure. After all, there was no harm in taking on additional challenges.
"No problem at all. I will help you keep watch for news of that Pokémon during my adventures. If I manage to find it, I will return here immediately to inform you."
Eddie accepted the quest and made this promise to the tribe leader Venusaur.
Venusaur naturally cried out with joy upon hearing Eddie's commitment, and it kept praising Eddie for being a true carrier of Nature Power. That was exactly how it expressed its gratitude.
This particular Venusaur didn't have an extensive vocabulary, and it kept repeating the same few phrases over and over again, which made Eddie feel somewhat embarrassed by all the praise.
So after exchanging simple farewells with the Venusaur clan, he immediately recalled all his Pokémon, including Venusaur and Eevee, into their Poké Balls and departed from the area quickly.
He then returned to the location where he had previously entered through the Vine Whip barrier, and directly instructed his Venusaur to use Vine Whip to create another protective wall.
"Da na da na? Da na da na~~~" (I was wondering why that Beedrill managed to get inside our territory. It turns out this section was destroyed by another Pokémon, and it needs to be repaired immediately.)
When Venusaur noticed the Vine Whip barrier that had been broken by Eddie's Garchomp during their earlier encounter, it suddenly understood what had happened. It immediately extended over a dozen Vine Whips to begin repairing the damaged barrier.
Of course, while it was working on the repairs, it was also complaining about whatever Pokémon had broken through the Vine Whip barrier in the first place, which made Eddie, who was standing behind it, look quite embarrassed.
However, since the matter had been resolved successfully, Eddie rarely felt the need to tell the complete truth about the Beedrill incident and his role in the barrier's destruction.
Venusaur remained outside its Poké Ball because it needed to complete the barrier repairs, and Eevee, being the independent little Pokémon it was, didn't want to return to its Poké Ball at this time. It had planned to stay outside permanently.
It seemed that this little cutie wanted to experience more contact with the outside world. Currently, it had taken up residence either standing or lying comfortably on Eddie's head, just like the Eevee featured in a certain popular mobile Pokémon game.
But Eddie didn't mind this arrangement at all. As long as Eevee was happy with the situation, he was perfectly content. Besides, it was quite enjoyable to occasionally pet Eevee like one would pet a cat.
"Alright, Venusaur has almost finished repairing this Vine Whip barrier. Before we leave this area, I should give it some TMs first."
Eddie briefly considered the various moves that Venusaur could potentially learn. Although there weren't many options available, the ones he could provide would significantly enhance this Pokémon's combat capabilities.
Therefore, Eddie retrieved about a dozen TMs and a Venusaurite Mega Evolution Stone from his bag and handed them directly to the grateful Pokémon.
"Ding! Venusaur has learned [Hyper Beam], [Giga Drain], [Protect], [Double Team], [Work Up], [Earthquake], and [Frenzy Plant]!"
Name: Venusaur
Type: Grass/Poison
Ability: Chlorophyll
Level: Level 36 (Advanced)
Potential: Elite
Held Item: Venusaurite
Moves: Tackle... Earthquake, Frenzy Plant
"Perfect! With these new moves in its arsenal, it is now significantly stronger than it was before."
Eddie felt very satisfied with the results. Venusaur was happily shouting "Ve Na Ve Na" in excitement, and it could clearly sense that it had become much more powerful than before.
Eddie thought about his next course of action and realized that there wasn't anything else that required his immediate attention, so he recalled Venusaur back into its Poké Ball and released Garchomp once again.
Taking Eevee from his head into his arms and settling comfortably onto Garchomp's back, he now planned to fly directly toward the western outskirts of Celadon City, ready to continue with his originally planned itinerary.
Initially, that had been his intention, but Eddie discovered something quite interesting while Garchomp was soaring through the air.
As mentioned previously, he was positioned very close to Saffron City and the main road that connected it with Cerulean City. Shortly after taking off on Garchomp, he spotted some familiar figures in the distance.
Although they were quite far away, Eddie could still see clearly after reaching a certain altitude. Those familiar individuals were sitting in what appeared to be an obviously homemade hot air balloon.
They had emerged from Saffron City and were slowly floating in the direction of Cerulean City.
"Calculating the timing, these individuals should have just returned to Saffron City. Why are they heading out again with such high spirits right now?"
Eddie calculated the approximate distance between Celadon City and Saffron City. If they had traveled only on foot, it would have taken roughly a day and a night, which meant that these people should have just arrived back in Saffron City that very morning.
Instead of resting and recovering from their journey at this time, they had ventured out again with obvious excitement. This could only mean that these individuals had identified a new target.
"According to their character patterns from the anime, their targets are always rare or powerful Pokémon. Should I follow them discreetly to see what they're up to?"
Eddie considered this possibility, then displayed a bright, mischievous smile. He turned around and began following the direction of the hot air balloon, curious to discover what adventure awaited.
