[System Notification: Would you like to store the soul of The Night Lord's Mad Dog? Y/N]

Ryusei stared at the prompt for a moment, then selected [Yes].
A dark mist surrounded the fallen knight's body, his soul fragment detaching from the broken armor before vanishing into Ryusei's inventory.

[Soul of the Mad Dog stored for later use.]

She exhaled, steadying herself before turning her gaze toward the throne.
The shadow version of herself remained seated, watching silently. As Ryusei approached, the shadow figure stood up, stepping forward and holding out its hand.
"...So, you're me?" Ryusei muttered.
The shadow didn't respond only continued to extend its hand.
Taking a deep breath, Ryusei reached out and grasped it.
The moment their hands touched a wave of power surged through her entire body.
The shadow dissolved, seeping into her skin like liquid darkness.

[System Notification: You have completed the Job Change Quest – Night Lord.]
[You have obtained the Title: Night Lord.]
[New Class Abilities Unlocked.]

Ryusei gasped, clutching her chest as new energy flowed through her. Her body temperature dropped, and a cold, yet oddly comforting sensation settled over her entire being.
She opened her eyes...
The throne room was darker now, but she could see everything clearly, even the smallest details of the cracked stone and lingering shadows. It was as if the darkness itself had become an extension of her own senses.
"I feel...strong."
Ryusei stood in the quiet park, the familiar fountain gently splashing behind her. The gate had disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, leaving only the soft breeze.
She looked down at her phone, noticing the time.
Only five minutes had passed?
It felt like much more time had passed. Yet, the clock ticked on as if nothing had changed.

[System Notifications: Job Change Quest Completed! Title: Night Lord.]

Her eyes narrowed slightly, but there was an unmistakable sense of satisfaction in her chest. She had done it. She was stronger now, with new abilities at her disposal.
"Time to go home and rest. I think I'll stay home from school tomorrow."
{Ryusei's House- Later}
Lying in bed, Ryusei scrolled through her system notifications, her eyes widening slightly at the latest additions.

[New Job Class Acquired: Night Lord]
[New Title Acquired: Night Lord]
[Innate Gift Obtained: Cursed Technique - Limitless]
[Innate Gift Obtained: Six Eyes]

She sat up in shock. Limitless and Six Eyes? Those were abilities on an entirely different level.
She exhaled sharply. This was insane.
Just a few days ago, she was struggling with regular monsters, and now she had inherited some of the most broken abilities possible.
"Alright... yeah, I definitely need a break."
Closing the interface, Ryusei tossed her phone onto her nightstand and flopped back onto her bed. Her body ached from the job quest, and her mind was still trying to process everything.
Koneko crouched down, letting the white cat leap onto her shoulder as she gazed at Ryusei's bedroom window, the faint glow of the moon casting a soft light over the quiet neighborhood.
"She vanished… then came back five minutes later," Koneko muttered, scratching the cat's chin in thought.
She had been keeping an eye on Okkotsu Ryusei ever since Rias-senpai mentioned feeling an ominous presence around her. It wasn't normal for someone to suddenly appear out of nowhere and draw so much attention, especially from the supernatural side of things.
And now, after what she had witnessed today, a new possibility formed in her mind.
"A Hunter?" she whispered.
Sixteen years ago, the world changed. Gates, mysterious portals to dungeons filled with monsters began appearing worldwide. At the same time, people awakened, gaining supernatural abilities and classifications known as Hunter Ranks.
Only humans have been able to awaken as Hunters, but it wasn't exactly very common though.
In Japan, there are less than 567 Hunters in the entire country and only 9 S-ranks.
If Ryusei was a Hunter, it would explain some things… but it still didn't add up.
The white cat purred, rubbing its head against Koneko's cheek, but the young Nekoshou was too deep in thought.
"…I should tell Rias-senpai."
With that, Koneko turned on her heel and disappeared into the night, the white cat following close behind.
Koneko let out a quiet sigh, her expression growing slightly darker as she thought of Issei Hyoudou, the newly reincarnated Devil in Rias Gremory's peerage.
"That pervert…" she muttered under her breath, as her annoyance bubbled to the surface.
The thought of being in the same room with him at school tomorrow was already giving her a headache.
"I wonder how Ryusei would deal with him…" Koneko mused, though she couldn't help but feel a small sense of curiosity about Ryusei's reaction to Issei's behavior.
"Maybe she'll fit in the peerage…"
