PS: Coincidentally, I was watching the American TV series "Lucifer," and I find this character—though seemingly ridiculous—has an incredibly intriguing identity. However, Lucifer does not entirely exude the aura of a "big boss." Most importantly, Lucifer essentially has no direct connection to the DC universe as many might assume. Therefore, I suddenly thought of incorporating him as a narrative element in my story, not expecting it would spark so much discussion.
However, now that I have written him in and embedded him into the story, there is no choice but to continue. So, I want to provide clarification through this note:
Since I have already integrated this character into the larger Marvel framework, we will not revert his background to the DC version. Marvel actually has a character named Lucifer as well, although his role is very minor—almost without dialogue, serving only as a supporting character. In my version, I combine both: Lucifer remains the son of God, but does not carry the background of his original DC identity. Lucifer is merely the Lord of Hell, a grand figure of "Galactic-Level," yet not above the five Great Creator Gods in the Marvel universe.
By the way, World Gate will likely also explore some plotlines related to DC. The version of Lucifer in a white suit from the movie "Constantine" fits my vision of a true Lord of Hell much better. So, to simplify, consider the Lucifer appearing here as a version from a parallel universe—an alternate universe that remains connected yet stands alone.
...
"Alright, alright." Carter nodded wisely, calmly flipping to another page, then lifted a piece of evidence he found in his hand. "The killer is Eddie Deacon, a low-level drug dealer. I found this in the man's pocket... and this in Delilah's bag. Clearly, their hatred stemmed from something simple: drugs. Oh, and I heard her concert tickets didn't sell well. I guess Delilah might have owed Eddie Deacon money for buying drugs..."
Chloe, used to Carter's nonsense, simply ignored it and asked casually, "How do you know Delilah was a low-level drug dealer?"
"I have an informant," Carter replied proudly, his eyes sparkling. "Isn't it easy to investigate such a small matter?" He continued confidently, "Delilah's phone had Eddie Deacon's number, and Eddie's phone also had Delilah's number. Judging by the frequency of their calls, it's clear that they contacted each other very often. So, I think Eddie Deacon must be Delilah's drug supplier. There might have been a conflict between them, Delilah got shot, and then God punished Eddie Deacon..."
Lucifer suddenly interjected with a small laugh, "Detective, God isn't that boring!"
Carter, taken aback by the response, frowned. "Then tell me, why did Eddie Deacon shoot Delilah?"
Chloe stared at the bloodied photo of Delilah, her eyes shifting to Lucifer with a puzzled expression. "It's said that when Delilah was shot, you and Delilah were together. Why don't you tell me why Delilah got hit by several bullets while you weren't hurt at all? I think that's quite interesting."
Lucifer smiled casually, his expression calm as if the question didn't bother him. "That's the benefit of eternal life."
"Eternal life?" Carter scoffed in disbelief, his tone filled with disdain. "Hey, do you really believe that just because you call yourself Satan, it makes you truly like the devil?"
Chloe also didn't buy Lucifer's nonsense. "I always forget how to spell that word," Chloe said lightly, as if the topic didn't deserve more attention.
Lucifer, though not angry, seemed to want to challenge Chloe further. "What can your corrupt organization do to help Delilah?"
"What do you mean?" Chloe looked at Lucifer in confusion, her eyebrows raised.
"Are you going to find the killer and punish the criminal?" Lucifer asked with a sardonic smile, his eyes glinting with an unspoken cynicism. "Or are you going to take this case seriously?"
Chloe squeezed the transcript in her hand, her face starting to show annoyance. "What's it to you?" Chloe asked, her tone firm.
"Because I'm taking this seriously," Lucifer replied with a flat expression, his eyes fixed on Chloe as if trying to uncover something hidden behind the detective's face. "Are you sure we haven't met before? I swear I've seen your naked body. Haven't we..."
"Hahaha!" Carter, who had previously seemed serious, now appeared more aggressive, interrupting with loud laughter. "Not just you, we all saw it. Chloe used to be in Hollywood... ah!!!"
Chloe quickly lifted her legs, swiftly putting away the transcript and information on the table, then said firmly, "I'm done asking questions."
As Chloe turned angrily to leave, Lucifer hurriedly grabbed her wrist. "Wait, detective, the criminal must be brought to justice. This case isn't over."
"No, it's over!" Chloe struggled to free herself from Lucifer's grip, then stepped out of the bar without looking back.
"Hey, don't forget my contribution!" Carter shouted with a hint of worry, waving to Lance who was still sitting at the bar. "Lance, I have to go back to help with this case. You don't need to wait for me. See you."
Without waiting for a response, Carter jumped out with quick steps.
Lance smiled as he watched Carter, but said nothing. For a moment, the atmosphere in the bar felt quiet before a teasing soft voice came from beside him.
"Little friend, your buddy has left you. Don't you want to find a better partner?" The voice came from the bartender, a beautiful mixed-race woman with a very attractive appearance. However, the slightly dull color of her skin somewhat diminished the perfect impression of her captivating face and body.
"Miss Mazikeen, thank you for your help, but..." Lance glanced at the woman briefly, then replied with a slight smile. "First, Carter and I are not friends. I was just giving Carter a ride home. Second, I have a better partner. Although my partner isn't here right now, I don't think I'm interested in falling for a succubus."
...
PS: Mazikeen, from the American TV series "Lucifer," is a close friend of Lucifer and a descendant of the succubus Lilith. By the way, the actress who plays the succubus Mazikeen looks a lot like Storm. If I hadn't checked the actress specifically, I would have thought Storm had moved to DC.
