Enzo's POV

I never thought I'd see another day. The last thing I remembered was the heat of Alaric's breath against my neck, the searing pain when his fangs pierced my skin, and the terrifying rush as my blood left me in deep, greedy pulls.

My world had gone black long before I had the chance to fight him, to plead, to even think.

He had stopped barely but the damage was done.

My body had been emptied, my veins hollow, my heart weak and sluggish in my chest.

Even now, lying here, I could still feel the ghost of that moment clinging to me like frost.

When consciousness finally returned, my eyelids were heavy, the air thick and warm, and the quiet hum of something mechanical filled my ears.

My body felt weighted, my limbs foreign and unresponsive.

Then his voice cut through the haze deep, steady, and far too close to ignore.

"Don't move. You might disconnect the blood transfusion."
