Lumi unzipped her shoulder bag and pulled out a paper bag tied with yellow string. She offered it across the desk.
"Do you want a strawberry tart?" Lumi asked. "My friend in the Delights Club let me try the test batch this morning. The crust turned out a bit soft, but the cream is good."
Yennifer looked at the bag. In the cathedral, her meals passed through three separate inspections before reaching her table. Official tasters checked every ingredient, and priests monitored her portions to maintain health standards.
She took a small, round tart topped with fresh fruit glaze.
"I thought you were in the Delights Club," Yennifer said, taking a small bite.
"Me? I am in Professor Melissa's Embroidery Club," Lumi replied, taking a tart for herself. "I just spend a lot of time visiting the kitchen because my friend brings extra treats to our sewing room."
Lumi sat on an overturned wooden crate, kicking her legs back and forth.
