In the ruins of Arizona, Shawn, James, Billy, Mitchell and Mark step off their dirt bikes.
Mitchell: You sure we should've came all the way out here in Arizona, first?
Shawn: Yeah....why you so cautious?
Mitchell: Because of that.
Mitchell points to a decayed human corpse hanging from the light pole.
Mark: Oh, shit.
Shawn: It's just some guy hanging from a light pole so what?
Mitchell: That means the locals that are here are not friendly.
Shawn: Hey, doesn't hurt to try.
Mitchell: If you say so....I just don't want to be captured and skinned alive.
Shawn, James, Billy, Mark and Mitchell search the city for survivors as Shawn speaks to James.
Shawn: What you did in Midtown Manhattan; standing up for me....you didn't have to do that.
James: You're my brother, Shawn....what else was I going to do? Let Nathan pull the trigger?
Billy: Shawn...
Shawn turns as Billy signals Shawn to come to him.
Billy: What did you mean by if these people won't follow you, they won't follow Nathan.
Shawn: Nathan's an asshole who thinks he should automatically be leader. I've ran into guys like that. Guys like that end up getting their whole group killed.
Billy: Well, these people do expect someone to lead the charge against Kronos.....against Zeus Corps....who do you suggest we pick for that?
Before Shawn can answer, he notices a Blood Hog with a rifle aimed at the group while more Blood Hog step out with weapons aimed at the group.
Mark: What's the plan, Shawn?
Shawn: Hold your fire.
The Blood Hog Leader of Arizona, Rocket, steps out.
Rocket: You assholes had better have a good explanation on why you're trespassin...
Shawn: You Rocket?
Rocket: Who wants to know?
Shawn: Shawn Burton....We didn't come to loot.
Rocket: Then what?
Shawn: We came here because we need your help....
Rocket: A wastelander asking the Blood Hogs for help....isn't that surprising? I'm listening.
Shawn: We're recruiting people for a fight...a fight against Kronos...
The Blood Hogs laugh in disbelief.
Rocket: Kronos? My man, you're either psychotic or stupid....anyone man enough to take on Kronos is signing their own death certificate straight to hell.
Billy: we're already in hell.....but we can make it a heaven without Kronos....
Shawn: That's what we're here for....to ask you to come fight. Not only for us, but for a better world.
Rocket: What would we get out of it?
Shawn: We're low on caps.....but we can promise you one thing; a future.
Rocket: They haven't bothering out cities for years.
James: but they eventually will find you all.....and make you there slaves or kill you...I can't promise you'll be paid for this, but we can promise you one thing you'll get; a future....for your people....your pride...for yourself....
A moment.
Rocket: No....
Shawn, James, Billy, Mitchell and Mark walk off.
Mark: Well, that worked well.
Shawn gives Mark a look.
Mark: sorry.
Mitchell: So now what?
Shawn: We keep going from city to city....there's gotta be someone out there who is willing to fight with us.
James: He's right. We can't quit now.
Billy: So where to next?
Shawn: Wyoming.
Two Years Ago. 2028
At the Prime Kronos Facility, Kyle is meeting with Ryder after Sheila's resignment.
Kyle: There wasn't more we could've done to stop her.
Ryder: No, son....there wasn't....Sheila resigned, because of her own reasons. She has family out there....she has a connection.
Kyle: I get that....but I still think about it....if she's still alive.
Ryder: It's been a year since she left us....walked out on us.....you have to let it go, son.....she wanted to dwell with the sheep....instead of being with the wolves....you, my boy, are a solder...one of the best.
Kyle: But she....traded her own life as a soldier....for wasteland trash.....
Ryder: Exactly...and there's no place for that....I have something....we got word of a settlement that most likely is ran by Blood Hogs...they've been harassing and killing our patrols for two months now...and that cannot be something we abide...I want you and Barnes to lead the squad and wipe them all out.
Kyle: Everyone, sir?
Ryder: Everyone....We know to show the wasteland that we, the wolves, rule....not the sheep.
Present Day. March 2030.
Back in Midtown Manhattan, Kyle is shaken awake by Sarah from the flashback.
Kyle: Huh...what?
Sarah: Hey, you were sleeping for some time...Hey, uh...do me a favor? And uh....
Sarah takes out flashlight.
Sarah: look at the top of the light. Want to make sure you don't have a concussion.
Kyle: With just my eyes?
Sarah: Yeah, with just your eyes....
Sarah moves the flashlight as Kyle uses his eyes to follow the top of the flashlight, before Sarah flashes the light beam into Kyle's eyes, constricting his pupils.
Sarah: Well, you don't have a concussion....
Kyle: is that good?
Sarah: Yeah...means you're going to be alive for some time...
Sarah then grabs a syringe filled with penicillin.
Sarah: All right....this penicillin should help take the sting off....
Kyle: You're the doctor.
Sarah: I'm going to inject with this penicillin....It's going to sting a hell of a lot, but you have to do this.
Kyle: I'm a big kid....I can handle needles.
Sarah injects Kyle with penicillin as he grunts.
Sarah: Sorry.....
Kyle: It's fine. Like I said; I can handle needles. Just haven't had to take them for a while.
Sarah: I think Nora could've done this without the pain.
Kyle: Sarah...you're doing fine....really...
Sarah: You know; my Aunt Dana, my Dad's sister, she actually thought I would end up being a nurse....she was always watching me whenever Dad couldn't....she
Sarah touches ring around her neck.
Sarah: she gave me this....she would actually help cope with my anger...she would see when I was upset....I guess you can say she see this bitch in me.
Kyle laughs.
Kyle: I'm sorry....but that's funny...it's also terrible...your Aunt Dana still-?
Sarah: No.....she was the first person I saw to turn into a Skinner actually....I was completely unprepared....she....it happened so fast...she was just lying on the bed...screaming....dying...and then...suddenly, she stopped....she was standing up.....only there was something in her eyes...something that told me she was dead....something that told me....that she was gone....I was standing right in front of her.....My Dad....he was the one who did it...
Sarah, saddened by this story, sniffles.
Kyle: You were only a kid....there was nothing you've done.
Sarah: That's the thing...there was nothing I could do.
Kyle: We can't change the past, Sarah....all we can do is stay strong for your Aunt.....pray to her....think about her....your mother...and father...all in a better place.
In Wyoming, Shawn, James, Billy, Mitchell and Mark are seen walking through the ruins of the city, stumbling onto a camp of survivors. One of the patrol men grab a rifle.
Wyoming Survivor: You fellas lost?
Shawn: Actually, no....we're looking for survivors....we're not looking for trouble....we just need to talk to your leader...
The Wyoming Leader, Wayne, walks up to Shawn.
Wayne: Someone needed to talk to me?
Shawn: Yeah....Name's Shawn Burton.
Wayne: Wayne.
Shawn: Wayne.....
Wayne: Can I ask why you're looking for survivors?
Shawn: We're going to war....with Kronos...
Wayne: That's like asking us to head into a storm that we won't get to the other side of....only thing is; we need someone to lead us through that someone....and no offense, but you don't look like anyone who leads....we're people who follow leaders...not followers..
A moment.
Shawn: No, you're right.....I am a follower...but I'm the follower of a great leader.....a great leader who is right now wounded, but recovering....a leader who will guide us through this storm and get us to the other side...This leader is brave...and if you choose to follow him, you all will be rewarded...not with caps, weapons or food....but with freedom from under Kronos' watch....what do you say?
Wayne gives a compelling look. In Midtown Manhattan, the sound of car engines gains both men's attention, before Nathan and Walter walk out to notice Shawn, James, Billy, Mitchell and Mark returning with Wayne and his survivors. Jenna, Maya, Alexandria and Cassandra walk out into the streets, before Cassandra runs to and hugs James.
James: Hey...hey, I'm fine...
Walter: who the hell are these guys?
Shawn: This is Wayne. He's going to help fight Kronos.
Alexandria: Okay....well....if they're staying, then I'll give them the tour.
Alexandria shows Wayne and his survivors the tour around Midtown Manhattan while Nathan approaches Shawn.
Nathan: Okay....I give you props, but that's still not enough survivors for this fight....
Shawn: Then I'll find more.
In a montage, Shawn, James, Billy, Mark and eventually Walter, travel to Salt Lake City, Phoenix and Oregon to talk the survivors into helping with the fight against Kronos.
Shawn: (while in Salt Lake City) Back in my home, there is a man who can lead us to a future that has been taken from us for so many years. This man is one of the bravest men I've seen in years. (while in Phoenix) He's gathering his strength right now, but once he's recovered, he will show you (while in Denver) that we can fight them. We can beat them. We can show them that we are not weak.
Back in Midtown Manhattan, Kyle is attempting to walk as Sarah is by his side aiding him. Kyle falls to his knees, but Sarah helps him up on his feet. The two stare at each other, before Sarah helps Kyle walk again. Meanwhile, Shawn and James are seen looking at the hundreds of thousands of survivors they have gathered for the fight against Midtown Manhattan. The two brothers look at each other, before James laughs. Nightfall, at the Prime Kronos Facility, Ryder is seen standing in front of a army of Zeus Corps Soldiers with Barnes standing with him. Meanwhile, in the Tower, Ryder's speech is broadcasted so that survivors in remaining cities are hearing his speech through a radio. Olivia is among the Kronos doctors watching the broadcast.
Ryder: Today, marks the beginning of our conquering of what remains of this world. The end of anyone who attempts to take from Kronos. At this very moment, our enemies are out there. Gathering whatever they can to attempt to fight; knowing that it is fruitless. Kyle Desipich has managed to poison one of our own against us, but we will show them how to rule with fear. We will show them. This machine, which you all will be recommended and rewarded for all your hard work, upon which we stand, will bring an end of all wars. The wars we have fought for twenty-one years! With this weapon, everyone who is still remaining in this world will bow to their knees and remember this day from which the wolves always conquer, not the sheep!
The Zeus Corps Soldiers cheer on while in the Zeus Cannon control room.
Kronos Zeus Cannon Operator: Switching to manual control. Target selected; Union City.
Barnes: Open fire!
The Zeus Cannon releases a burst of energy mixed with radiation and pulse energy that shoots a beam into the sky. The blast of the weapon knocks many trees down. Barnes and Ryder give a satisfying look. Back in Midtown Manhattan, Shawn is helping James and Cassandra with supplies, before Cassandra looks up to the sky to notice the beam.
Cassandra: what the hell is that?!
Shawn and James look up to notice the beam while Kyle walks to the window to spot the beam in the sky. Walter, Billy, Sarah, Ashley, Nathan, Alexandria, Shane, Maya and Caleb, who is lying on a bed in the hospital, notice the beam. In Union City, the remaining survivors notice the beam as it reigns down on Union City, obliterating it into a crater and destroying of what remains, killing the remaining survivors. In Midtown Manhattan, the remaining survivors watch in shock and horror as Union City is destroyed.
James: My god.
Back at Kronos, Barnes and Ryder watch San Francisco burn with smiles on their faces.
Ryder: If I know Kyle, he and Shawn will be begging on their knees to take them back.
Barnes laughs.
In the tower, Skull is seen watching the destruction of Union City.
Skull: Damn....now that's some beautiful lights...
Olivia gives a look of shock and horror, before she types onto her computer to contact Jenna.
Olivia: Jenna! Jenna! Do you copy?
Jenna runs into her Sphinx Aircraft, before contacting Jenna. Shawn and Mark join the conversation.
Jenna: Olivia, what the hell was that?!
Olivia: Ryder's weapon. He calls it the Zeus Cannon. Union City, it's....it's gone....everyone who was still there....gone...
Shawn: Shit! We were going to head there tomorrow.
Mark: Wait, you're saying that Ryder just took out an entire city with that fucking thing?!
Olivia: Yes....
Jenna: Fuckin chumps....never did play fair...
Olivia: The weapon's going to charge and in three days, you guys are the next target.....if you guys are going to do something, you gotta do it soon. Shit! I gotta go!
Olivia cuts the connection off, before Shawn, Mark and Jenna give looks.
Mark: We're fucked.
Jenna laughs.
Jenna: You know, I was hoping for a plan that did not involve world war 21.....our chances at are 0 to 1.
Shawn: I have six city gangs out there. That's about 3,000 fighters. It'll take about a couple of minutes, before they have to fire that weapon. Takes about three days too. That gives us three days to get the weapons and supplies we need. We can win this.
Jenna: Shawn, you saw that thing did to San Francisco.
Shawn: Yeah. I did, but that doesn't mean we give up.
Mark: There's too many families here...you got a brother here too.....if Kyle is able to fight, I hope he gets up soon.
Shawn: we can't do this without Kyle...these people need a man like him....so let make sure those families in Union City didn't die for anything.
Jenna smiles.
