Chapter 505 - Chapter 505: Apex Announcement

Except for a handful of developers who were in on the secret, most people at the venue were already speechless.

How many now? Two new games and one DLC… that's basically two and a half games already! And there's still more?

No matter what everyone thought, the final reveal of the presentation began.

The live feed faded into darkness, replaced by a video.

After a moment, a familiar logo appeared.

The camera panned from the endless starry sky down toward a planet.

In the planet's upper atmosphere, a massive aircraft cruised across the clouds.

Inside, before a dressing mirror, a person in full armor—helmet resembling a gas mask—checked his gear, then turned toward his two teammates.

One was a heavyset black man with a shield device mounted on his left arm. The other was a woman in tight, lightweight armor—her eyes briefly flickered with a pulse of energy when he looked her way.

The three exchanged determined nods, then moved toward the rear hatch.

The ramp opened. The perspective switched to first-person view—then, hand in hand, the three jumped out into the open sky.

The screen went black.

A title appeared.

Then came a rapid series of in-engine gameplay clips.

Only now did the audience realize—this looked like a multiplayer battle royale!

The trio landed, quickly looted supply crates ahead, picked up gear, and soon found themselves facing off against another squad that had dropped in the same area.

The player's controlled character activated an ability—instantly scanning the area and revealing a trail of enemy footprints on the ground.

Behind him, the female teammate used her own skill—stepping into the void and dashing forward in a flash, reappearing behind the enemy. With her R-99 in hand, she unloaded a burst of bullets, downing one opponent.

The two remaining enemies charged at the large man, but he calmly deployed an energy shield, creating a barrier around himself. Then he tossed two grenades to block off their approach route.

Once his teammates regrouped, the three launched a counterattack, swiftly wiping out the opposing squad.

After looting the fallen enemies, the trio continued forward.

The footage then sped through multiple squad encounters—team fights, ambushes, chaotic third-party skirmishes—until finally, the camera zoomed out to show the entire map.

From the edges, the familiar shrinking energy zone—a classic "battle royale circle"—began closing in toward the center.

As the circle shrank, the number of surviving squads dwindled, until only two remained: the main player's team, and one last enemy squad of three.

In the final circle, the two teams clashed in an intense close-range firefight.

When the last two bullets collided midair—

—the screen cut to black.

The title reappeared, this time with release information:

Release Date: October 22

Price: Free to Play

Platforms: (listed)

Notably, the Nintendo Switch was not among them.

That was because Ichin wasn't yet sure if Apex could run smoothly on the Switch. His goal wasn't 30 FPS—he wanted a solid 60. Unless Nintendo's rumored new model was announced soon, there was no way to hit that performance. So for now, he left it off the list.

Ichin reappeared on screen once more.

"The final game we're revealing today is a multiplayer online title set in the Titanfall universe.

Each match consists of twenty squads of three players each—sixty players in total—battling to be the last team standing.

The game features a variety of playable heroes, each with unique abilities and a powerful ultimate skill that recharges over time.

Weapons are randomly scattered across the map, and powerful gear or rare weapons can be found in supply drops falling from the sky.

The game will be free to play across all platforms when it launches, though console players will need active online memberships.

Paid content includes seasonal Battle Passes and loot boxes. Through these, players can earn various cosmetic skins—for characters, weapons, even profile banners—allowing full customization.

This October… I look forward to meeting you all in our new world. Thank you."

Thunderous applause erupted as Ichin smiled and stepped down from the stage, returning to the audience seats beside Utaha and the others.

Once seated, he finally let out a long sigh of relief.

Now, he could sit back and enjoy the other studios' presentations.

Utaha gently nudged his shoulder and whispered, "Ichin, everyone online is talking about your announcements!"

She handed him her phone.

Ichin glanced at the screen—it was a Bilibili livestream chat, filled with viewers discussing the three new games and the DLC.

"That's a full-on ultimate move! So much content at once!"

"And they're all releasing this year and next! Not just empty promises!"

"I'm already hyped for Apex in October—it looks so damn fun!"

"Yeah, but first you need to find two teammates. Playing with randoms is impossible…"

"Am I the only one who wants to play GARO?"

"I'm more into Tales of Berseria!"

"No, give me the Dark Souls DLC—I wanna suffer!"

The barrage of comments made Ichin grin.

He opened his own phone, checked YouTube's livestream—discussion there was just as lively.

With that, Ichin knew his E3 goals were fully accomplished.

Leaning back comfortably, he watched the next showcase with Utaha and the others—EA's turn.

As expected, EA revealed a new Battlefield title. And, true to form, they drew another absurdly oversized dream on stage—

"the game that will make players go wild,"

"unprecedentedly large-scale maps,"

"unparalleled combat intensity," and so on—

Ichin just stared in quiet disbelief.

Does EA really not know how the player community sees them now?

No—they absolutely knew.

They'd simply developed the thickest skin imaginable, unfazed by criticism, still proudly carrying themselves as if they were at the very top of the AAA hierarchy.

Ichin couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

Who gave them that kind of confidence? And with this new game coming out within the year… are they really not afraid it's going to flop?
