The morning sunlight filtered through the plane tree leaves, casting dappled shadows in front of the small clinic.
When Emily Parker reached the doorway of the clinic, she saw a familiar figure standing there.
"You're here? Uncle Mason."
Her voice was very soft, as if afraid of disturbing the morning tranquility.
The middle-aged man standing at the clinic door turned around at the sound.
Uncle Mason was wearing a work jacket that had faded to a pale blue today, and he visibly paused upon seeing Emily Parker.
"Doctor Parker…"
A trace of heartache flickered in his weary eyes, "I heard about your family... I thought you wouldn't come today, but still..."
He was somewhat worried about her, and unknowingly had the driver bring the car here.
Ever since he met Doctor Parker, the time spent at the clinic was the most relaxing for him.
Emily Parker pushed open the glass door of the clinic, and the smell of disinfectant hit her.
"My family wants me to rest."
