"Who did you cross?" Uncle Mason asked quietly, his eyes cautiously scanning the surroundings.
Emily Parker's lips curved slightly, revealing a trace of a cold smile.
"Who knows?" She replied softly, "There are more than a few people who want me dead."
The turmoil outside the small clinic
Emily stood in front of the medicine cabinet, gently caressing her swollen belly with her slender fingers.
She turned to Uncle Mason, her voice gentle, "Thanks to you for reacting quickly just now, otherwise the baby would have been frightened."
Uncle Mason waved his big hand, his sleeve already washed to a faded white, "Wait here for now, I'll be right back."
With that, he strode out of the clinic, his back as straight as a pine.
Emily watched him leave, then pulled out her phone from her pocket to check the surveillance footage at the clinic's entrance. As she clearly saw the familiar figures on screen, her pupils contracted suddenly, and her lips pressed into a cold, hard line.
