Chapter 9 - Shadows of Loyalty

Alright, after I finished taking what I wanted, tonight's matter is a confrontation with the slave—whom I will name Mary... hmm... Maria... well, I haven't decided on a name yet. Let's just leave her name blank for now. I'll decide later.

I rode the carriage with the elf, and our destination was the academy.I think it's time to begin the journey of self-improvement—with the least effort possible.

Upon arrival, I found my obedient maid waiting for me.

"Hello, did you prepare what I asked for?"

She answered in a lifeless tone:

"Yes. The resources you requested have been prepared. Your clothes and personal items have been packed, along with food enough for a year and water as well. One hundred thousand gold coins were stored in this spatial ring. The sports car you wanted is ready too, along with a matching bike."

I said in a tone unusually gentle for Arin, with a faint smile—even if it wasn't sincere:

"Eimy, you're always the best. Well done."

And I patted her on the head, without even realizing it—honestly.

Eimy was so kind and beautiful. She had been serving Arin since he was a child—just seven years old.Though she wasn't much older than him, she was responsible and affectionate in a special way.She even considered him her family, since she had no one else. And even after Arin changed… she remained by his side until the end.

And when he died… she was shattered. The first thing she did—might seem crazy for a maid—was go on a rampage. She attacked everyone who was against him, without mercy. She killed many, cursed them.

And in her final moments, before she too was killed by those whom Arin once considered the dearest in his life…she struck the slutty princess, delivering a deadly blow—though it didn't kill her.

So yes… she died for me.Or maybe Arin. Who knows.I'm starting to feel like we resemble each other more and more.

Even Arin considered her important—Only she, and a few others, he neither despised nor hated.

After that, Eimy spoke, as usual, with care:

"Young master, do you really plan to leave the academy—for training?"

I answered, laughing:

"Not just for training—but for much more.Don't worry. When I return, everyone will know who I am…Arin von Reinhaver."

"And has the head of the family been informed?"

Eimy replied in a submissive tone—perhaps having given up on trying to stop me, for she knows her master's stubbornness:

"Yes. The family has been informed of your scheduled absence. The head of the family said you must return before or during the academy's rank determination tournament. He also said: You must not disappoint the family's final hope."

I sighed and said:

"Alright. And I want to introduce you to a new friend. This elf here—From now on, you both will be my right and left hands.I place my trust in you."

"Also, prepare a place for her in my wing and provide her with everything she needs.I'll send a message to the director, stating that Mary—this elf—will now be a member of the academy."

After writing a quick letter to the director,During that time, the two girls got to know each other.

Mary took Eimy aside to speak.

"Mary, from now on, you are free to do as you please.Your only obligation is to secure a spot among the top five in the third year."

"And if anyone tries to approach you forcefully—which is possible, since you're beautiful—never forget who you are.You are one of the noble elves. And before that, you are one of my possessions. So no matter how powerful or influential someone is, never submit to anyone.Other than that—you're free to act as you wish."

"And since your exams come before ours, and I won't be present…"

"Let me say it now: Congratulations.Because I believe you'll live up to my trust."
