Chapter 5 - Empty

ATHENA'S HOUSE...

11:00PM...

Still Athena's POV...

I jerked back to life when I heard the sounds of two people yelling at each other. I looked at my alarm clock and saw that it was already 11pm. I still had my uniform on, I got off my bed and walked downstairs and to see what the ruckus was all about- Alina should be gone by now.

When I got downstairs, I saw that Jade and my mom were in a hot argument with each other. I quickly walked over to our mom.

"Jade are you out of your mind?! What the f**k is wrong with you?!" I yelled angrily.

"Stay out of this brat!" She responded.

"You're more of a brat than I am!" I replied.

"What did you say?" She asked, walking closer to me in an attempt to start a fight.

"ENOUGH!!!" Our mom yelled to be heard.

"Jade just look at the time, you still have your uniform on- You're just returning home from 'school', is it wrong for a mom to be worried, to be angry, to ask questions?!" Our mom questioned half way in between tears. A sight I have gotten used to- But a sight I don't like to see her in at all.

"I thought I told you Athena, to tell her that I won't be home early because I wanted to hang out with some of my friends." Jade questioned sternly, but I just grunted angrily at her.

"Hanging out with some of your friends, huh? Just some bunch of strangers you just met today and you're coming home by this time. You didn't even bother to call or text us that you'd be this late," I blunted out.

"You watch your tongue little girl!" She reacted.

"Jade stop! I got really worried you know," our mom intervened.

"Well you should have called," Jade told nonchalantly, bringing some of her jet black hair to behind her shoulder.

I scoffed at her.

"I did. But you weren't taking any of my calls and you also weren't responding to my text messages," our mom informed.

"Really? I didn't notice," Jade said obliviously and she started going through her phone immediately as she walked upstairs to her room.

"TSK!" I voiced.

"Mom just forget about what just happened," I urged.

"Artemis am I being too paranoid about you guys safety? Is it wrong to care too much about you guys?" My mom mumbled to me, her voice cracking.

"Mommm..." I stressed. "No, okay? Just ignore jade. Let me take you to your room, so that you can take your medications and go to bed, okay?" I offered, and she just nodded. Her room was also located right here downstairs.

After the night's scenario, I was even more exhausted. I got to my room and slumped on my bed again. I dozed off before anyone could say JACK.

The next day, I woke up feeling so energized. A good sleep is really good for the body, haha.

I looked at my alarm clock and MAMAMIA, it's almost 8am in the morning- I had forgot to set my alarm clock last night.

"Urggghh!" I groaned and got up. I was still on my uniform from yesterday. I took it off, then I quickly freshened up.

I wore my other uniform. I'm not really a makeup person. I decided to pack my hair into a ponytail. Facing the mirror hung in my room, I saw as the little light in my face go off as I remembered my dad. My dad and I had the same hair color- Neat blonde hair. Just the sight of my hair reminds me of him. I've thought of dying it sometimes- But will that really make me forget everything.

My mom and Jade both have jet black hair. The only thing common between all three of us was our metallic smokey grey eyes, while my dad has amber eyes.

I jogged myself out of it, before I started drowning in the sea of my past memories. Shutting my door, I rushed downstairs with my phone and backpack.

Downstairs, I saw Alina in the kitchen. She'd already packed both my lunch and breakfast as I was freaking late.

"Hey Alina." I greeted.

"Hey." She responded.

"Where's mom?" I asked.

"Oh, she's in her room getting ready for her therapy session today." She answered. Oh it was truly Tuesday. Her sessions were scheduled for every Tuesdays.

"Okay."

"Where's Jade?" I inquired as I collected my meals and put them into my backpack.

"She already left for school." She replied. Not surprised at all.

"Whatever. See ya later." I ended and rushed out of the house. "See ya." I heard her say. I had to run to school. My first class was Math class.

I got there soon.

Jeez, was the hallway always this empty when everyone was in class. I finally spotted a trio of guys, students here of course, they were on their uniforms. Anyways, I walked passed them. What the hell were they doing in the hallways during class hours? They either had a free period or were looking for trouble.

After a while of walking, I paused as I was picking up footsteps from behind. I turned around and saw the trio. I guess it was my latter guess.

"Why the hell are you guys following me?!" I yelled angrily at them.

"Relax beautiful, we ain't gonna hurt you," said one of them with a stupid smile.

They started coming closer, I moved away. "You better back off," I scowled.

"Hey calm down, we just wanna introduce ourselves," another of them assured.

"And why on earth do I wanna know you douchebags?!" I uttered.

"Whoa so sassy. I love when they play so hard to get," said the one who spoke first, and they started cackling.

They continued coming closer and I too was moving away from them cautiously, untill I tripped over something and fell, exposing my laps to them. I saw as they smirked and ogled lustfully at my exposed skin.

Calm down Athena, it's school, they can't do anything crazy. Or can they?

Who knows what sort of menace things is going on in their heads right now?

For the first time in months, I felt scared.
