[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]
Third Person POV
Aretuza.
...
...
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" The word repeated from the girl's mouth as soon as Severo was spotted. The girl in front of him knelt before him as soon as she entered that corner of the library. With her knees touching the floor awkwardly, she bowed, uttering thanks like a mantra.
Isabella had tears in her eyes as she looked at him with eyes full of gratitude.
Madara had stopped reading the book, using his own Sharingan to improve his reading speed and memorization. He looked at the girl crying in thanks and knew that this was perfectly normal.
How could it not be? The girl had lived her entire life being judged for her appearance, being treated as something worse than animals.
That world was cruel; people tended to judge anyone who was different. Geralt and witchers received this kind of treatment all the time for being mutants. Even he could receive it if people knew who he really was — although they would be more inclined to tremble in fear at his presence than to try to antagonize him.
He observed the girl for a brief moment, paying attention to her. She really had changed and, in a way, the experiment he had done on her had worked. It had been risky, despite being almost certain it would succeed; still, there was always a chance of failure, and it proved to be a success in the end. Satisfied with her powers, he addressed her.
"I'm glad you're well. No side effects?" Madara asked, as she wiped away her tears and looked at him, shaking her head, still with an intense gleam of gratitude in her eyes.
"I'm perfectly fine, more than fine. I've never felt this good..." she whimpered.
Madara nodded calmly. "That's good. Your condition will no longer be a problem from now on. It has been permanently altered, and you no longer need to be the shadow of what you were before," he said calmly.
"Thank you... Truly... Thank you," she still murmured.
"Anyway, continue with your day. I'm busy here in the library. We'll talk tonight; your cure was just one of the matters I need to discuss with you, Isabella," Madara said.
The girl clearly did not want to leave. She seemed a little cautious, but in the end, she nodded.
Tissaia touched her shoulder. "Wait for me outside. Let me speak with Madara," she said to the student.
Isabella gave one last embarrassed look before leaving, still reluctant.
"You surprise me," Tissaia commented after the girl left, looking at him, while he turned his eyes back to her with a calm and indifferent gleam.
"Well, she is my protégée. Someone I made a bet on, and I intend to make something worthwhile out of her. So it's perfectly normal to help her so she can be useful to me in the future," Madara replied calmly, returning to the book.
He did not see Isabella as someone who would simply help beyond what she had done in the forest. After all, spending his resources on Aretuza had been extremely expensive; no one would do what he did without expecting some progress from the girl. To him, it was perfectly normal.
He expected results. He did not do this expecting her total loyalty, he only wanted it to be enough for her to be loyal to the kingdom. And he did it because he wanted her to develop into the sorceress he would need in the future.
"I wasn't necessarily talking about that," Tissaia said, with a smile. "But rather about your skill and your medical knowledge. Most sorcerers can't do even 10% of what you just did tonight."
"So you're interested in my healing knowledge?" Madara commented, returning his gaze to her.
She didn't deny it. "Obviously I am. If we had your capacity, we could change the world. Most injuries would be resolved," she commented with a trace of expectation and even greed; not that it was a bad thing here, it was greed for knowledge, coming even from this woman.
"You speak as if people could replicate my powers. It's different, Tissaia, you know that. I'm just not a killing machine like many believe and expect to control."
A foolish desire, one that probably had no basis now. After all, every organization on the continent already knew that he was someone uncontrollable.
"Actually..." Tissaia began, but she was interrupted by Madara.
"I know you want me to teach my knowledge," he said, and she nodded without hesitation.
"I won't do that now, nor in the near future. It takes time. But I can think about it in the future. After all, as you know, Cintra will be taken again, and I intend to make the country the most powerful in the world. Cintra's medicine will be just one of the aspects that will revolutionize the entire continent. So yes, Tissaia, I intend to pass this knowledge of mine on at that moment," he said.
She formed a small smile. "That's good. It shows that we won't have only war and destruction in the future," she commented with a strange satisfaction.
He simply nodded without adding anything else.
"I'll leave you, then."
"Wait. Even if I stay here reading the books in your library, I'll need your help in the field of spatial magic. I learned a little about portals with Triss and Yennefer, but you're more powerful than they are," he said.
She raised an eyebrow when she saw him show a bracelet with symbols that he used as runes, very different from those used by mages. They were Japanese kanji, but she didn't know what that was. He then released something from his storage, and a book appeared wrapped in smoke, which he offered to her.
"Here it is. It will serve as a demonstration of gratitude. This is the Book of Dragons. All the knowledge about them — different from the knowledge that few souls managed to theorize over the centuries, this is real knowledge."
"I've heard about this..." she murmured, her eyes shining as she looked at the book.
She herself had seen him leave his wedding flying on a dragon with Ciri, in Skellige. A dragon that he dominated and made the giant creature become a kind of mount, the first man to do so in the entire history of the continent. But it wasn't very surprising, considering it was him.
"I learned from an ancient dragon. Mousesack helped me formulate this book, separating the knowledge I acquired into each chapter. It has two versions: a more layman one, which hides many of the dragons' powers, their true powers, and this version I have in my hands, the complete one, detailing everything a dragon can do and how they live in society. However, I did not inform their location, because I also don't want to cause them problems," Madara said.
Tissaia took the book as if it were something precious. She certainly had a hunger for knowledge. Dragons were a subject no one had truly delved into; despite various encounters over the course of centuries and millennia, they were proud, and knowledge about them remained limited.
"Thank you," she murmured, while holding the book.
Without saying anything else, she turned and left that part of the library, leaving Madara behind.
"Lady Tissaia! I see a book has caught your attention, that girl is waiting for you outside... Who is she, by the way?" a voice called out to her. It was the librarian, greeting her while looking at the book in the rector's hands.
"Hm? A strange book, without a cover," she commented, not recalling anything similar. Certainly something precious had caught the attention of the rector of Aretuza; she seemed very protective of that object.
"You could say so, and the girl, you know her, you can ask her name yourself," Tissaia simply replied, leaving the library. The woman there, despite having heard about Isabella, had her thoughts fixed on the book.
"There was a book like that a long time ago..." the librarian murmured, but she didn't care much and returned to her work.
Madara continued reading the books at high speed, even creating clones, easily taking books right under the librarian's nose, who didn't even notice the shinobi walking along the walls and using his speed to become invisible to anyone's eyes.
When night came, he went to the female dormitory.
"Did you see? The hunchback turned into a normal person. Can you believe that?"
"They say Professor Minerva tried to find out what happened, but she refused, and they went to Rector Tissaia. They say the rector already knew about it and that there was no problem at all. Professor Minerva was very frustrated after that."
"My God, are you saying that creature has now become beautiful?"
"It fits the nickname that the other girl in her class gave her to mock her. Now she's actually pretty."
Madara walked through the corridors unnoticed, listening to the students' idle conversations, as he approached Isabella's room. He entered easily, without her noticing, while she walked back and forth.
"Is that nervousness?" he asked, making the girl jump and almost scream, putting her hand over her mouth before letting out her startled cry.
"You came!" she said, breaking into a smile, though still nervous.
"Yes. Why wouldn't I?" he replied simply, shrugging.
She nodded her head. "You said you wanted to talk. Still, thank you for everything. People don't even recognize me anymore," she said in a silly and shy way.
"Yes, that alone changed your common conditions. They really improved, but that's not what I truly wanted to pass on to you," Madara began, as she raised an eyebrow.
"And what would that be?" she asked, nervously.
"I'm here to pass on true magical knowledge to you. I have the ability to implement information and knowledge into people's minds. You have a great disadvantage in your lack of talent, but I can try to make up for that with my Sharingan. I will implement knowledge I acquired from experienced sorceresses. You will have experiences that no girl your age should have, to the point that even your teachers will not be able to rival them."
By the way, he had also stolen some information from many of the teachers by placing some under genjutsu, stealing their knowledge without them noticing during that day as he passed by their classrooms — but Madara kept that only in thought.
"Is that possible?" she murmured, incredulous. He was basically saying that he would give her knowledge she would be willing to spend decades studying to obtain.
"I won't simply turn you into a sorceress. You will still have to attend the academy until Tissaia says you are ready. You must organize this knowledge and learn how to use it. It's not something that will make you ready immediately. You will only have the knowledge; control and experience you still must acquire. And there is no better way to do that than to remain here until you are ready," Madara said.
She nodded quickly. What he was offering might have been less impactful, in her opinion, than the change in appearance, but to Madara that was far more important than Isabella being beautiful or not — and she understood that.
"Then I will be useful to you," she replied, with an intense gleam in her eyes. "I will pay all my debts and make sure you don't regret having extended your hand to me, my lord. I will dedicate my life to you," she said firmly, in a tone that even made Madara raise an eyebrow. She seemed fanatical, as if she were making a promise right there, a lifelong oath.
"I want you to still live your life, Isabella. When I reclaim Cintra, I will need a sorceress. I will need you to be her, among others. But as much as I trust some of them enough to invite them to court, I want someone like you," Madara replied.
"You will have your own life, but I want you to be loyal to the kingdom of Cintra. You will have your place there and will be able to build a life, I just won't allow you to have the greed like most sorceresses," Madara added.
She heard that and nodded. "I will do anything you ask of me, my lord. I owe everything to you," she said confidently.
Madara merely nodded; he could see a gleam in her eyes, which was no surprise. When Madara changed her life, he represented a knight on a white horse to that girl. When the entire world had rejected her, he could see the look of passion she had for him, but Madara did not worry about it. She would lose that over time when she realized he was an unattainable person, already married, as long as she remembered that she should be faithful to him and Ciri in the future.
"Great, let's begin. Sit on the bed and look at me, you will need to lie down. The process of the knowledge I will pass on to you will be in parts, so as not to overload your mind, and a headache may appear when you wake up," Madara instructed, as the girl nodded, sitting on the bed and looking at him with trust and nervousness.
Madara activated the Sharingan and placed her under another genjutsu, as he began to pass information and magical knowledge from powerful sorceresses, in the first session.
