Chapter 266 - Chapter 266 - A Man’s Wedding Day.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Skellige.

...

...

"Are you sure you want to wear this?" Asked Yennefer, while Madara took what he would use at the wedding when she asked to see it and pulled it from the storage scroll.

Madara was wearing a kimono in the style of a Japanese lord, somewhat similar to the outfit he had worn the night before, which had drawn attention for being quite different from what the rest of the nobles wore at the banquet.

"You could say this is my style." Madara said without taking his eyes off the fabric stretched out in front of him, checking if it was wrinkled or awkward to wear.

Yennefer kept analyzing the outfit, the fabric was expensive, very expensive. She didn't know where Madara had bought it, which was a mystery.

"It was in Novigrad. I already had the fabric, I just needed the tailor to make a few adjustments, which didn't take more than a day." Madara seemed to be reading Yennefer's thoughts as he said that.

"I see..." Despite furrowing her brow at that, she didn't say anything else. "Well, if you want to wear this style of clothing, I won't say anything." She replied in the end.

It was at that moment that a knock on the door, urgent in tone, came as Yennefer raised her eyebrow and opened it to see who was there.

"Lady Yennefer." Said a young woman, one of those who still accompanied Ciri, as Yennefer could recognize. "I need to speak with Lord Madara. Ciri, she asked me to fetch the groom, saying he has a perfume she wants to use." Said the girl.

The sorceress just nodded before turning to Madara, who was already taking out a small vial and pulling the perfume from a scroll where he kept Ciri's things.

He just made a gesture with his hand, and the perfume quickly flew into Yennefer's hands, who took it before handing it to the girl, who soon left the door.

Yennefer turned back to Madara as he was straightening the outfit. "Well, I won't argue. It looks elegant anyway." She spoke approvingly. "Now, I'll leave you to get ready. Should I call someone to help you? There are many nobles who were offering to accompany the groom." She said.

"No, I can do it alone. I don't want any flatterers or people with ulterior motives near me and Ciri." He said, while she just nodded.

"Now I'll see how Geralt is doing. I'd hate for him to look ugly while accompanying me to the wedding. I would send him away if he isn't properly dressed, and you know what a witcher's taste is like..." She said, while Madara followed her with a smile.

"Yes, I imagine he'll go to the wedding with two swords on his back and a leather armor, believing he's going to kill some troll." He said, while she also showed a smile.

"I'll remind him not to do that." She said, stepping closer to Madara and touching his shoulder. "Well, anyway, congratulations. Today seems like a very important day. I'm happy that you and Ciri are uniting, even though it was already inevitable." She said.

"Thank you, Yennefer." Madara turned his gaze to the sorceress as he said this calmly and sincerely, which made the sorceress open an even wider smile.

"Now I'll be going. Good luck. I'll send someone to accompany you anyway." She said, leaving Madara alone before he could say anything.

Madara closed the door while getting ready. The room was well-prepared for this, with a huge mirror. He placed his kimono together with the other clothes and then a cloak over the kimono he had ordered, bearing the Uchiha clan's symbol — his mark, which he would carry with him anywhere in this world.

He only had to tie his hair, which was usually messy, making a bun at the back and leaving a few bangs in the front, when there was a knock at the door. Madara went to the door and found Dandelion, very well dressed, waiting for him.

"Let me guess, Yennefer sent you." Said Madara with a bit of mockery.

"Of course, I came to see how the groom is doing. I have a lot of experience with weddings, by the way." He said, entering the room, while Madara closed the door.

"Just don't sing anything melancholic." Was the only thing Madara said before returning to fix his hair, adjusting it while also taking out from the scrolls a perfume he usually wore.

"There are few dates that mark a man, and certainly the day of his wedding is one of them." Said Dandelion beside him, looking satisfied.

"Then you should get married, Dandelion." Said Madara, shrugging, still adjusting his clothes, while part of his chest was left exposed with the kimono. It was his style.

"How could I give myself to one woman when I would leave so many others alone? I can't, I have too good a heart to break many other ladies." He said, while Madara mocked him with a look.

"One day this will kill you, Dandelion. You'd better control yourself." Said Madara.

"It's that you don't understand." He said, beginning to strum some chords on his lute. "You're famous for facing entire armies, and surely women are raining down wanting to sleep with you without you needing to do anything other than open your bedroom door. But still, you chose only one person." He said, becoming a bit melancholic, while Madara raised an eyebrow.

"I may be fated to sleep with only one woman in this world, but I will still be satisfied being only with her." Said Madara.

"That's what I'm talking about." Laughed Dandelion.

Madara raised an eyebrow at him. "Maybe it's because you haven't found anyone worth staying with. Think about it, I've been with Ciri since she was six years old. We've been inseparable for more than a decade. Well, that's inevitable... Even so, maybe you'll be lucky enough to find someone worth it." Said Madara in the end, while Dandelion gave a sad smile.

"Those are beautiful words, Madara. Maybe you're right. But for now... Well, for now, young women ask me to relieve their loneliness." He said, while Madara shook his head. That guy liked sleeping with married women.

There was another knock at the door and Madara looked at Dandelion, who understood, stood up, and opened the door with a smile for the person at the entrance. He stepped aside to let Geralt and Zoltan in, both wearing formal clothes. Madara gave Geralt a special look for a few seconds.

"It's good that you're not in armor and with two swords on your back. Yennefer seemed afraid you would go to the wedding like that." Said Madara, making the witcher raise an eyebrow while Zoltan laughed.

"Was it you who told her that? Then she came to ask me, worried, if I was going prepared to kill a golem. She was ready to throw me into a portal to the other side of the continent." Said Geralt, in a bad mood.

"Don't blame me for that." Madara simply shrugged while finishing adjusting his clothes.

"You've got a big day today, huh, boy." Zoltan was the one who spoke after stopping his laughter, settling into the place with his short steps due to being a dwarf.

"Yes, it's going to work out." Replied Madara, while he was finally getting ready.

"Yennefer said you'd break a bit of the noble wedding standards with your clothes. Well, at least you're not wearing something she made me wear." Said Geralt, as if he was also in a bad mood for wearing those clothes.

"It's my style, as I told Yennefer. Anyway, I'm ready." He said, adjusting his cloak and putting it over himself as a final touch to his outfit.

"Since you're here, let's go outside, we've got some time before the ceremony starts." Said Madara, while the three nodded.

"I'm just going to meet with Yennefer and Ciri. I'll catch up with you later." Said Geralt, while Madara nodded. Only he couldn't see the bride, but he also wasn't someone in a rush. He would wait patiently while walking through the castle corridors, following with his two companions after Geralt went the other way.

The first thing he did was check if the space King Bran had promised to clear was ready to serve as the dragon's landing spot. The king had kept his word, and the place was already clean, with only a few training dummies being removed by men from the castle.

"Guys, there's something I want to do, I'll be right back." Said Madara, while they were on the balcony checking the place. He disappeared before Zoltan and Dandelion could say anything.

He entered through one of the windows into an empty room and created multiple clones.

"Your job is simple: just maintain the security of the entire place. Any sign or suspicion, you must act." Said Madara in a serious tone to his clones, who were wearing Akatsuki cloaks at that moment.

Ciri had confirmed that the wedding would happen without any problems, however that wasn't an excuse for Madara to let his guard down. The "no problems" she saw in the future might have been because his clones destroyed any threat before it could even happen.

Anyway, Madara returned to the two after jumping from that room while his clones advanced through the window like shadows unseen by anyone. Dandelion and Zoltan cast questioning looks, still not used to that kind of strange ability.

"I just took some precautions, that's all." Explained Madara, as he moved toward the outer part of the castle, where the ceremony would take place.

The people he met in the corridors couldn't hide their surprised looks, while he ignored them all, since he didn't know anyone there.

He entered the area where his wedding would be and saw the servants busy with various decorations. The wedding was about to happen, and they were adding the final touches. It wasn't a grand thing: a large balcony facing the sea, with rows of chairs, maybe for forty people at most. There was also a small natural stage, made of larger steps.

"My lord, any problem?" Asked one of the guards upon seeing Madara in the place, with no one else having arrived yet.

"Nothing much, I just wanted to get some fresh air. There are no laws against men arriving first at the place where they're getting married." Madara replied, while the guard nodded.

"That reminds me of the day I got married." Zoltan said, as Madara turned back to look at him with a raised eyebrow.

"You were married?" He asked.

"Of course! Do you think a dwarf like me wouldn't have found love?" Said Zoltan with a bit of disdain.

"I'm not saying that, I'm just surprised because you never said anything about it." Said Madara.

"Well, it's not something I like to talk about. After all, I lost her." He murmured, in a tone that indicated it wasn't a breakup, but rather a death.

"I'm sorry." Said Madara.

"Don't be." Zoltan shrugged. "Just focus on your day." He said with his arms crossed, as they walked past the chairs until they stopped at the balcony, looking out at the sea.

Geralt came right after and joined them.

"So you spoke with little Ciri?" Said Zoltan.

"Yes. Yennefer is taking care of the final details along with the other women. I just went there to wish her a happy wedding, as I should." Said Geralt.

"You're going to accompany her?" Madara asked, turning his gaze to him.

Geralt nodded. "Yes."

"I expected nothing less. Well, anyway, are you willing to give your daughter to me?" Said Madara, in a humorous tone.

"If you take good care of her, as you've done in recent years, I'll be satisfied. But I still want you to remember our conversation yesterday..." Said Geralt in the end, even with a certain threat.

"Well, thank you. Then, now it's just a matter of waiting." Said Madara, as he turned his gaze once again to the sea that stretched between the islands in front of them.
