Chapter 307: Little Angel
Yang Potian was unaware of the transformations taking place in the Star Dou Forest's core, nor did he know that the Silver Dragon King had emerged. His mind was occupied with his own plans. Given the current situation, it seemed unlikely that the Star Dou Forest's fierce beasts would make any more appearances. Even if they did, it would probably be under Di Tian's lead, making his Shura God trials increasingly difficult to complete without finding these beasts.
Bibi Dong's absorption of the Titan Giant Ape's spirit ring took a full three days—much longer than anticipated. It seemed that this ring's power rivaled that of an average fierce beast, given the Titan Giant Ape's exceptionally noble bloodline. Meanwhile, the spirit masters accompanying Bibi Dong had found a healing-type Spirit Saint. However, the Spirit Saint was not treating the Titled Douluo but instead focusing on healing the unconscious Azure Bull Python, ensuring it didn't die prematurely and waste its spirit ring.
The Titled Douluo clustered around Bibi Dong protectively, keeping guard in case Yang Potian might interfere. At that moment, Qian Renxue approached Yang Potian. "Let's go for a walk. I need to talk to you."
The surrounding Titled Douluo all turned their curious gazes toward Yang Potian, especially Chrysanthemum Douluo, who let out a mocking laugh that made Yang Potian want to silence him on the spot.
Despite Yang Potian's thick skin, he couldn't withstand everyone's relentless prying, so he reluctantly followed Qian Renxue.
Once they were alone in a secluded grove, Qian Renxue, gripping the Angelic Sword, looked visibly tense. "Yang Potian, what do you intend to do about... us?"
Yang Potian swallowed nervously, stammering, "Lady Qian Renxue, there's nothing going on between us, right? I mean... the way you're putting it sounds... odd."
Qian Renxue's face grew frosty. "What do you mean, 'nothing going on'? Back in the Rakshasa secret realm, you and I were trapped in the same illusion. Have you forgotten everything that happened there?"
"Lady Qian Renxue, it was an illusion," Yang Potian replied, slightly flustered. "What happened in there was all just a trick by the Rakshasa God. Now that we're out, shouldn't we just forget it?"
He was grasping at straws, hoping to change the subject. But Qian Renxue's eyes flared, her grip on the Angelic Sword tightening as if she were ready to draw it. "Forget it? I'm a woman who shared everything with you in that illusion, where we spent decades together. Are you really going to dismiss that?"
Yang Potian stammered. "W-well, it was only an illusion, after all. And besides... I already have Lingling..."
Qian Renxue's expression turned icier. "Lingling? Is she all you care about? If I'd known this, I wouldn't have let you and her form a team in the first place. None of this would've happened!"
Yang Potian hurriedly tried to explain. "This isn't about Lingling. It's my fault alone. I never thought that borrowing your sword for the Rakshasa trial would lead to all of this. If you're going to blame anyone, blame me."
Qian Renxue's eyebrows arched sharply. "Oh, I absolutely blame you. Tell me, am I inferior to your precious Lingling in any way? Be it looks, skill, or strength—am I lacking?"
Yang Potian, feeling a surge of guilt and discomfort, finally replied, "Qian Renxue, you're perfect—perhaps even the most perfect girl on this continent. But I'm just... an ordinary person, someone only trying to survive, to protect my family and my clan. Honestly, you deserve better than someone like me."
Qian Renxue's expression shifted slightly, a glint of amusement in her eyes as she spoke. "That's your true thought, then? Fine. I won't stand in the way of you and Lingling, but she will be secondary. I'll be the principal wife."
Yang Potian was taken aback, struggling to find words. "That... I don't think that's the right choice. I don't think we're suited for each other."
Qian Renxue's face darkened immediately. "Not suited? You're an Extreme Douluo and one of the top five in the continent. Don't tell me you're too weak to stand up to this."
Yang Potian was at a loss. "It's not about strength or courage. Isn't love supposed to be mutual, something both sides desire?"
Hearing this, Qian Renxue nearly swung her sword at him but managed to restrain herself, her voice dripping with irritation. "Mutual desire? You and I spent decades together in that illusion. Are you telling me you felt nothing?"
Yang Potian fell silent, unable to find an answer.
After a long silence, Qian Renxue asked, "What are you so afraid of, Yang Potian? What are you worried about that you can't even speak? Whatever it is, I'll face it with you."
Yang Potian looked up, sighed deeply, and admitted silently to himself that Qian Renxue was everything one could dream of—her beauty, talent, and spirit could rival any goddess. She was even the reason he had once admired this world. Yet he remembered her tragic fate, the sacrifices she made, and the choices that ultimately led her to ruin.
In the original story, to help her ascend to godhood, Qian Daoliu had sacrificed himself, and the entire Wuhun Empire had bet everything on her. But in those critical moments, she let her pride cloud her judgment, sparing Tang San multiple times, which eventually led to the empire's downfall.
While Bibi Dong and Hu Liena were driven by love, Qian Renxue's story was marred by pride that led to ruin. Yang Potian, facing the real Qian Renxue now, found himself fearful of falling into the same trap.
After a long pause, Yang Potian finally asked, "Renxue, tell me—what is an angel to you?"
