Chapter 459 - Surprises in King's Landing II

(Drakken's POV)

"You're....." Jaehaerys said as he was sitting down in his seat, "You're serious?"

I shrugged, "Ask him."

I gestured at Sylas, who was standing straight with his hands behind his back.

Jaehaerys looked at him, "You've grown a lot, Lord Sylas." He said, "How old are you now? 12?"

"Yes." He said, "King Jaehaerys, I intend to marry your daughter. If I can have your blessing, of course."

"You don't need for him to give it to you." I told him, "Just take it."

"Father, to maintain an amicable relationship, at the moment at least, we need to act peacefully." Sylas said, "This is the calm before the storm, I am sure. What better way to build alliances than through marriages?"

"Hm." I said with another shrug, "Do what you want. Anyways, Jaehaerys, you look like shit. Time hasn't been kind to you."

"Of course, you would say that." He said seriously, "You haven't aged at all."

"Well, obviously." I said, "Unlike you, Alysanne does look like a beautiful mother. You must be glad I did you that favor, Jaehaerys."

"I'd rather not speak about that." Jaehaerys said, "You came all this way to speak to me about betrothing Daenerys to Sylas? I am surprised. I figured you'd want Riktor to marry her or Gael."

"Eh, he can choose his bride." I said, "Just as Sylas has done so. I don't really care nor will I pressure them. They have all the time in the world, so long as they marry when they're of age."

"Very well." Jaehaerys said, "I feel like I do not have much say in the matter. I suppose I would approve of this. On one condition, if you would humor me."

"Depends." I said

"I would like to spend more time with my granddaughters." He said, "If Saera would visit with them more often, that would be nice."

"Get a load of this old fucker here, thinking like a jolly grandpa." I said to Sylas, "The nerve on this prick. He still thinks I haven't forgotten about your Mother."

Sylas looked at me, "I've given that plenty of thought." He said, "The Red Cult has been nearly wiped out. I think it's fair to give him the benefit of the doubt; he has already paid for it. Unless you have some eternal punishment of pure agony planned, then I guess do that."

"Hm." I said, "Alright, Sylas, go and court the Princess. Make it quick, we have things to do back in Harrenhal."

Sylas nodded, "As you wish."

He turned around and walked away.

Jaehaerys was looking at me with a serious expression, "There are things we need to discuss." He said seriously as Sylas left the room, "About those in the East."

"Ah." I said with a smirk, "Did you hear about Maegor's little fight?"

"Of course I did." Jaehaerys said, "I've tried my best to suppress the information here but rumors spread like wildfire."

"I know." I said with a chuckle, "I am the one who spread them. But how could they be rumors when it is true."

"I don't see what your endgoal here is, Drakken." He said, "What could you possibly benefit from all of this?"

I gestured behind me, "Did you not see him, Jaehaerys?" I asked him, "My son? I know you took a look at him and were a bit impressed by him. See, he's grown so much. He's going to be a powerful figure. And if you're impressed by him, you won't know how to react to Riktor. We're sorting some issues with him, but my eldest will be the one person he was meant to be."

"Hm... " He said, "And what would that be?"

"The one to conquer everything." I said with a smirk

"I figured that would be your role." He said, "To destroy, to conquer, to subjugate."

"It's very easy to do it here. In a lowly world like this one; one with puny weak humans like you that govern it." I said, "It's so easy. I like entertainment. And this? What I am doing is just that. I am waiting for the perfect time to unleash the flames of war. So enjoy your peace while you can because the moment that despair comes, you will know why."

"I would prefer it if my family is safe from that." He said

"Perhaps they will." I said, "And about those in the East. I will meet with them. Don't worry about it. They're not a threat to you, not yet."

"Hm." He said, "And you want them to be a threat to us....I know it is something you would do. Quite smart."

"Yea." I smirked

"I am worried about something, though." He said, "Within several years, Daenerys will be of age. She will marry your son, I suppose. Will our blood be further mixed?"

"Hm." I said as I placed my hand on my chin, "I don't think any of that will be an issue. You see, there is something you should know. And this is something you will have to keep to yourself. Tell anyone else and I will cut your arm off."

"What is that?" He frowned

"Oh....." I said as I crossed my arms, "The thing is....."

(Third Person POV)

Sylas stood next to Princess Daenerys, who wore a white and silver dress while her white hair was tied in a braid. They were both standing on the balcony, overlooking the city of King's Landing. The Princess had a slight smile on her face.

"I am a bit overjoyed...." She said softly, "I didn't think Father would agree to it quite easily."

Sylas nodded, "Yea...." He said, "And it isn't like my Father would have taken no for an answer."

She looked at him, "We will marry...." She said, "I never once thought it would happen.....I mean.....your Father hates my Family."

"I think those feelings are no longer there." Sylas told her, "Sure, he might resent them. But he's been calmer than usual. It is unlike him. I once overheard Mama Saera tell him that the longer he goes without killing, the softer he'll get. But I know my Father, simply because he's mellowed out....it doesn't make him weak or soft."

Daenerys nodded, "Lord Drakken...." She said, "He's terrifying. He's something larger than life. And well.....the truth is...I didn't think I would be attached to his son...."

She reached for his hand, grabbing it, which surprised Sylas.

"I...." He said with a bit of surprise

"I like your hair." She said with a smile

"T-Thank you." He said

"But I do think it needs a better style." She chuckled, "That one doesn't suit you."

"O-Oh." Sylas said as he reached for his hair, "You think so?"

"The long, messy look might look better on your brother." Daenerys said with a smile, "But.....I think yours would do better with a properly combed look."

"I understand." Sylas said with a slight smile, "I will fix it."

Daenerys leaned in and kissed him on the cheek, "I cannot wait to be your wife, Sylas Drakkengard." she said,

"I hope we can be happy together."
