Chapter 448 - Council

(Third Person POV)

[Harrenhal, Some Time Later]

Inside the meeting room, a massive round table sat, with large chairs that surrounded it. It was a rarely used room, only when Drakken summoned his direct subordinates and discussed things with them. And right now, this was one of the rare moments when this large room was used, as several servants were rushing about, placing cups of wine on each seat.

Lord-Commander Jon Riversbane and Olyver Rivers were entering the room, reaching their seats, and noticing that Mya was already sitting down, swirling her cup of wine as she had a calm and neutral look on her face.

"My Lady." Jon said as he straightened up, his black hair combed to a ponytail, "Do you know what has brought this summit?"

Mya shrugged, "Not really." She said, "He just told me to come here since all of us are gathering. All of us, including the fellow wives."

"Oh." Olyver said, "Even the Princesses?"

Mya nodded, "Yes."

"That is unusual." Jon said, "But....we should not be surprised if Lord Drakken wishes to discuss things with them....in front of us."

"I find it strange indeed." Mya said before taking a sip, "Mm....but....who am I to argue?"

"Another of his wives?" Olyver asked

"I still am a servant of the Trinity." Mya said, "His orders are absolute."

"Hm." Olyver said as he shifted, "That is true."

As he said this, Saera and Maegelle walked into view, followed by Viserra as they all sat down on chairs. Saera was helped by Maegelle, who was holding her arm gently. There was a visible bump on Saera's stomach, displaying her pregnancy. She bore Drakken's 8th child, which was quite an impressive yet ridiculous thing to even state.

But alas, nothing could be said about it.

"Thank you, my beloved sister~" Saera said with a smile as she pulled out her fan, "Ah, I do wonder what this is about...."

"Drakken just told me to come." Maegelle said, "He doesn't usually have us here."

Olyver raised an eyebrow, "Princess Viserra too?" He said, "The Dragon Maiden?"

Viserra nodded, "Yes." She said, "I was, too, ordered to come."

Saera fanned herself, her locks of hair slowly lifting due to the air, "Where is he?" She asked, "I figured he'd be here?"

"Here." Drakken said suddenly, having appeared on the chair which had the largest back, "We're waiting on him."

"Him?" Mya raised an eyebrow

"Apologies!" a voice said, "I have not been in Harrenhal for the longest time, I had gotten lost!"

They all turned to see Ezra approaching the table whilst holding a book in one hand and a quill on another. He was wearing a simple black rope and had a metal chain with a medallion hanging from it, the sigil of The Trinity engraved on it.

"Ezra." Olyver said, "What brings you all the way out here?"

"His Excellency, The Great One, Lord Drakken has allowed me to call this meeting." Ezra said as he stood next to the seat, "May I humbly request taking a seat, Great One?"

Drakken leaned on the arm of the chair, leaning his head against his hand in a relaxed position, "Sit." He said, "Tell everyone why we're here."

Ezra sat down and set the book in front of him, as well as the quill, "Yes, of course." he said, "First and foremost, I would like to apologize to the Ladies Drakkengard if I come off as.....ambitious and.....overzealous.....but I have been doing a lot of thinking regarding the Trinity and House Drakkengard as a whole."

Mya frowned, "How so?"

Saera narrowed her eyes, saying nothing as she fanned herself while Maegelle simply looked at Ezra.

"I have been a loyal servant under the command of Lord Drakken and his aspect of War, Sol'Tyr. As has the Princess Viserra." Ezra said as he placed his arms on the table, "He himself has peered into my heart; he knows that I do nothing but think what is best for The Trinity. I have never once acted out of pure ambition....and self-preservation. I do everything to please and serve Our Lord. He's not just my God....he is Our God, Lord Drakken."

Saera scoffed, "Go on." She said, rolling her eyes, "Carry on with whatever ass-licking you're going to do."

"But Princess, allow me to finish." Ezra said as he placed his hand on his chest, "Lord Drakken is the one true god, and because of that, his divinity extends to his children. His Seven Demigod Children. Your daughter, Princess Astorias. Because of that, I firmly believe that the children bearing the name Drakkengard are in positions that are even higher than the Iron Throne! They are above Lords...they are above Princes and Kings! Nothing can come close to them! The only one above them is their Father, of course."

"What are you getting at?" Jon asked with a frown, "I understand all of this perfectly, Ezra. But what exactly are you trying to say?"

Ezra stood up, placing his hand on his book, "I have discussed this with Lord Drakken already. He knows what I am about to say." He said seriously, "But Seven Demigods.....and an eighth on the way.....it is simply too much power to be left unchecked."

Saera glared at him, "What are you saying, Greenseer?" She said, "Don't you dare say something stupid like saying that we are overbreeding for him."

"Never!" Ezra said, "I would never resort to such vulgar insults, Princess."

Maegelle looked at Saera, "Let the man explain himself."

"I know he wishes to be the High Priest of The Trinity, such ambitions need to be checked." Saera said, "You cannot fool me."

"Sister." Viserra spoke up, "Ezra speaks true to his heart. He does not act out of ambition for his self. He does everything for the sake of the Trinity. His premonition powers are too strong, enhanced by Lord Drakken himself. He has seen multiple futures and one that is prominent....it is one of War. A war that is waged by the Children of Drakken."

Maegelle glanced at Drakken, seeing that he had no reaction. The God of War and Death had a neutral look on his face, staring at Ezra, as if waiting for him to keep speaking.

Olyver cleared his throat, "May I speak, Lord Drakken?"

Drakken nodded, saying nothing, but allowing him to speak.

Olyver then looked at Viserra, "So there is a Great War." He said, "Yes, we are aware that it is the plan. That is what was promised. A Great War that ravages the world and a new future rises from the ashes of said war. That is the absolute truth of the Trinity. But what does that have to do with the Young Lords and the Princesses?"

Viserra looked at Ezra, "He can tell you."

Ezra cleared his throat, "The truth is...." He said, "The fact that they are demigods.....it will be instilled in them naturally. They will know that they are above everything else. Respectfully, of course, I will speak about what I know of the children so far."

"You'd best watch your tongue when speaking of my boys and my daughter." Saera warned, "Otherwise, I will rip it out and feed it to Dreamfyre, along with your legs for standing up while speaking so foolishly."

"Easy." Drakken said simply

"Lords Riktor and Sylas are on the right track for their inherent roles." Ezra said, "They are going to be powerful warriors and fine young men. Fit for leadership and they will be men that everybody respects and fear. I don't need to see the future to know that; it is quite obvious."

"I agree with that." Jon spoke up, "Lord Riktor is growing to be fit for leading the Duskguard and Lord Sylas will definitely be a powerful commander. I fear for any enemy that dares stand against them when they are on the battlefield."

"Yes. They not only have the powers of a god, but they also possess martial skills that will be unrivaled." Olyver said, "That much is obvious."

"Allow me to continue." Ezra said, "The Princess Vaella is a gentle soul. Too gentle. That much is quite clear. She takes after her mother, Lady Maegelle. I firmly believe that Princess Vaella will carry that personality to her adulthood, and she will be a figure that everyone in the Trinity will grow to love and adore. She is fit to be a Dragon Maiden or at least in a position similar to it."

"Thank you for the kind words." Maegelle smiled

"And while we're at it, I ought to speak on the twins. They are still very young, but they display signs of what they should be when they're older." He continued, "Lord Maekar will be a young man who looks up to his brothers and will try his best to keep up with their prowess. Lord Maelor is a strange one, respectfully, quite unpredictable but in a very...calm sense. But I do believe he will use that to his advantage. He will do things that nobody can expect, but yet, he won't be looked down upon for it."

"That is true...." Maegelle said, "My Maelor has taken a liking to music, but he does often look at his brothers' training, so I guess he won't ignore the fighting that is in his blood."

"As for Princess Nymeria....." Ezra said, "It is hard to tell. The girl is isolated to Dorne, but I firmly believe with all my heart that it is best for her. It will be crucial to her fate to be one with the sands as she is meant to have the people truly behind us."

"Hey!" Saera exclaimed, "Do you think I'll just sit here and let you gloss over Astorias? Go on! Speak your mind about her!"

"Saera, calm down." Mya reached over to grab her shoulder, "Don't get too angry, it's not good for you."

"Tch...." Saera scowled

"Princess Saera, I meant no disrespect." Ezra said seriously, "The truth is.....you can see it already, can you? Princess Astorias is the main reason we are having this council right now."

"What do you mean?" Saera asked

"The Seven are Demigods, their birthright is to inherit such unimaginable power." Ezra said, "And it is currently Ironclad; Riktor Drakkengard is the Heir to House Drakkengard. One day, he will take charge of the most powerful House in the World. He will have access to the most dangerous powers that this world has ever experienced. And all of that.....it will incite challenge."

"Challenge?" Maegelle asked, "By whom?"

"It is quite obvious." Ezra said, "If not anyone else, possibly Astorias."

"Huh?" Saera said, "You think my daughter will try and eliminate Riktor?"

"No, of course not." Ezra said

"It makes no sense, though." Olyver spoke up, "Why would that happen? Riktor is the Eldest, and Sylas is the second. If any of the daughters would be in line for the Seat, it would be Princess Vaella."

"Yes, Olyver, but House Drakkengard doesn't follow the same rules of succession as any other House." Jon told him, "This is a House ruled by strength. And when Riktor becomes Head, he will be the Strongest."

"Yes." Saera said, "I know that. Riktor is meant to be the perfect soldier, the strongest of the Sons of Drakken."

"And his strength will incite challenge." Ezra said seriously, "You have seen it, Princess Saera. Your daughter has eyed the weapons on the racks whenever her brothers train, right? You might think to yourself, 'Why would a girl ever be interested in that?'. I mean, you have never been interested in fighting because you didn't need to. You could have others fight for you. But Princess Astorias is different. She is the wild card of this House. I strongly believe that no other child that Our Lord has will be as Chaotic as her. And it is because of her....."

"We need to properly establish the Drakkengard Laws of Succession."
