The massive doors remained closed, their surfaces covered in weathered markings that had become difficult to distinguish with the passage of time. However, after placing his hand against the stone and channeling a small amount of power through it, Snow caused the ancient mechanism hidden within the entrance to awaken.
A deep rumbling echoed through the surrounding courtyard.
The doors slowly parted.
Beyond them stretched a passage descending into darkness.
Snow entered first, with Uriel following closely behind him.
The passage was considerably older than the structures they had seen above. Its walls were formed from enormous blocks of stone fitted together with remarkable precision, and although there were no visible sources of illumination, a faint radiance seemed to emerge from the material itself, allowing them to see the path ahead.
Their footsteps echoed through the narrow corridor as they continued descending.
