10 years later
Man, middle school kids have energy for days, don't they? I remember thinking that exact thing back then, watching those girls bounce around like they were powered by pure sugar and zero sense of bedtime.
I'd been yawning my head off myself—had a crack-of-dawn workout planned the next day, after all. So I herded them toward their sleeping bags, one by one, trying to keep my voice all calm and coach-like. "Alright, lights out, team. Big day tomorrow."
But nope. The tiniest one pipes up from her bag, all squeaky and determined: "Next time, we gotta hear about Coach Cici's love story!"
And boom—sudden explosion of "Oohs!" and "Yes!" from the rest of them. Energy levels? Right back to eleven.
I just sighed to myself. Yeah, this sleepover was gonna drag on forever. Good times.
