A/N- Hello people, I'm back after a long break and too much Halo. I'm finishing this damn book; there may be a few plot holes by the time I'm finished, but I'll deal with that once I get there. Enjoy this week, 1 chapter a day!
Two months later
As Class 1-A takes their seats, Aizawa takes roll call for once, fighting to keep his eyes open.
Despite the challenges his students had faced this year, he was quite proud of them. Time and time again, they'd been thrown into situations that no student should be exposed to, and come out stronger. Villain attacks, difficult tests, and even dealing with the media, they'd gotten through it.
He was more than happy with how they'd survived, but he would never tell them that; someone had to keep them humble. After taking roll, he put the list away as he announced to the class.
"Alright, class, as you know, hero internships are here again, and this time the school is doing something different. You're all going to the same place, Jaku city." The class erupted in questions as he activated his quirk, getting the message, they settled down as he continued.
"You won't be under one hero this time; it'll be a team on an operation, you're there for backup in case something happens. That's all you need to know for now, so be sure to pack everything you need. Now turn to chapter 69 so we can get this book over with."
A few days later, the entire class finds themselves a part of a mission centered around the man behind the Nomu's, Kyudai Garaki.
The class had been split into two groups for this, with the heavy hitters being sent to assist the team that would be attacking a villa, where the League supposedly is, while the rest were on standby to evacuate people once the fighting started.
Carter, being part of the villa team, is mostly calm. Despite the tension in the air, the heroes are anxious and ready to start.
After getting the signal, Carter shifts into his Nightwing form as he stalks towards the villa's gate.
As the heroes start to move in behind him, Carter listens as Kaminari stresses about wanting to be with his friends and not on the front line. Midnight encourages him as Fumikage does the same, surprising Carter by how optimistic they are.
Once he's close enough to hear the thoughts of all the people inside the villa, Carter charges the gate with a roar as he smashes through it, setting off dozens of alarms as the villa comes alive with activity. The rest of the heroes charge in as one of the first villains comes out.
As the villain unleashes a huge electrical discharge, Kaminari proves his worth as he absorbs it all, giving the other heroes a shot at entering the villa as Amplivolt calls more electric villains to overload Kaminari.
As Cementoss starts tearing apart the mansion, Carter stays behind a bit as he feels strange, like something else is going on. He quickly finds the problem when several heroes are thrown out of the mansion, all broken, as a massive creature, with scales like snow, forces its way out of the villa.
'An Icewing?!'
Carter doesn't get long to think as the other dragon rushes him, forcing him to fight as the heroes and villains ignore the two battling dragons. Giving them a wide berth as the fighting gets kicked up a notch.
Inside the mansion, the devastated Twice is done holding back as he charges Hawks again and again. Dozens of clones are destroyed as he resolves not to let Hawks ruin the happiness he's found with Toga and the others.
Seeing him charge in again and again, Hawks almost feels sad, wishing things were different as he urges Twice to give up. He refuses as Hawks sighs, 'The ones who never give up are the most dangerous, and sadly, the ones who have to be put down.'
Seeing an opening, Hawks lunges forward with a blade of feathers, before a wave of blue flames bursts through a wall. Swearing, he dives and grabs Twice, taking him out of the way as Dabi emerges from the fire.
Still dazed on the ground, Hawks is unable to move as Dabi stomps down on his head, shattering his goggles as his body reacts on its own, taking him and Twice away from the flames that erupt from Dabi's boot as the villain looks annoyed.
"You almost burned your friend." Hawks notes as he stands, Dabi nods. "And you saved him, like a hero is supposed to." Hawks stares at Dabi and asks, "So when did I blow my cover? You must have noticed something if you're here right now." Dabi shrugs, "I never trusted you to begin with, not even once."
Back outside the mansion, Fatgum is taking Fumikage, Denki, and two class B students away from the fighting. "You guys did great out there! Now it's time to let the adults handle things." "What about Carter?" Denki asked as they all locked back to see Carter and the Ice dragon plow through on outer wall, roars echoing as Fatgum shook his head. "Unless you can do what he's doing, head back to the rear line and rest up."
Fumikage then notices a massive blast of blue fire erupt from the mansion's roof as the other see it too.
Realizing his mentor Hawks might be in trouble, Fumikage starts trying to get out of Fatgums' body, desperate to help. He somehow manages to get out and shouts at Denki, "Hawks is on the top floor, I think he's in trouble!" Before taking off back towards the fighting.
Back at the mansion, Dabi is furiously throwing flames at Hawks. Stepping on him, he burns his feathers away as he laments the death of his friend Twice.
"That's not the face I'd expect from someone who just watched their friend die." Twice says through the pain as Dabi scowls. "Fuck you. My tear ducts burned away years ago; that's the only reason I'm not in tears right now."
"Ya know," Hawks says as Dabi pauses his burning, "I did a background check on all the League members I could, I found everyone except you and Tomura." He looks into Dabi's eyes and asks, "Who are you?" Dabi answers with a hateful glare, "I'm the son of Endeavor, Toya Todoroki."
Hawk's eyes go wide at the revelation, but before either of them can react, Fumikage appears and slams into Dabi, sending him away as Dark Shadow covers Hawk's body in a protective shell. "Your wings! What happened?" He says, shocked as Dabi rises, seeing Twice's body next to him.
"How pathetic, that U.A. is sending children to fight battles," Dabi says as he stands up and looks Fumikage in the eye, and points at Twice. "Your precious teacher killed my friend; he's probably got more blood on his hands than most villains do."
Shocked by this, Fumikage barely gets out of the way as Dabi blasts fire, burning his leg that didn't move in time. As Dabi starts to monologue again, Hawks starts talking to Fumikage, "Don't listen to him, he's just buying time to use his quirk. Get out of here!"
He listens just in time as flames surge forward. Dark Shadow grabs a rail behind him and tries to fling them away, but a lack of strength drops them a floor lower. Checking to find Hawks unconscious, Fumikage gets ready to move as Dabi lands nearby, "I've been holding back this whole time, and look at how pathetic you are." He gloats.
Before he can do anything, Ice crashes through the wall as the mansion shakes. Using the distraction to get away, Fumikage bursts outside to see Carter fighting the Ice dragon and another villain with an ice quirk. Fatgum grabs him and runs as the two dragons tear into each other, as Mt.Lady goes after the ice user.
She isn't able to do much with Carter and the ice dragon in the way, dropping her guard, she gets blown away by Geten, the ice villain, who shouts for all to hear. "No more! I won't let you 'heroes' interfere with Re-Destros' plan any longer!" He then starts to rally the villains to break the siege as Dabi turns and leaves, going to somewhere more important.
Over at Jaku hospital, Mirko curses in pain as a part of her ear is torn off. She doesn't let that slow her down as she fights her way toward Garaki. She manages to reach him and the capsule containing Shigaraki, but before she can smash them, one of the Nomu uses its quirk and stabs her through the leg.
Up above, Endeavor finds the tunnel that leads down, and burns the Nomu that are holding the heroes back as they burst into the basement. Seeing the situation, Endeavor slams a flaming fist into the Nomu holding Mirko as Erasehead, Present Mic, and Crust with his team jump in and swarm the Nomu.
As the heroes start fighting with the Nomu, Mirko gets ready to charge the capsule again. 'No matter what, that thing can't finish.' She thinks as she charges in. Off to the side, the female Nomu realizes that Erasehead is the one taking her quirk away, speeding up to get out of his sight, she relishes the feeling of power returning to her as she combines her two quirk, attacking the heroes.
Under the female Nomu's onslaught, Endeavor is distracted enough that the Nomu he's fighting can get past him a grab Mirko; she kicks it away as she smashes a bit of the capsule, damaging the processor. The Nomu throws her at Endeavor, forcing him to catch her as Garaki rushes forward to inspect the machine.
"No matter what, destroy that damn capsule!" Mirko growls as Endeavor hands her a wad of cloth. She bites down as he sears her wounds shut with his flames. "Don't die just yet, I still owe you for Kyushu." "You don't owe me shit!" She says before they're faced by the female Nomu.
As he checks to see what damage Mirko has done, Kyudai desperately notes how all the equipment is ruined, but not the data, and as much as he doesn't want to wake Tomura because he is still in an incomplete state, he figures it would be better than before all the solutions inside the capsule are lost.
He laments how all his work with All For One was falling apart, and he pulls out a switch and tries to press it while yelling for Tomura to wake up. "Not if I can help it!" Present Mic yells, using his Ultimate Move: Loud Voice, to shatter the capsule completely. Garaki watches in horror as Tomura's lifeless body collapses to the floor.
Present Mic takes the Doctor away as more heroes arrive to fight the Nomu. As Garaki tells his life story, X-Less goes over to destroy the machine that Shigaraki was in, noting that it's still powered. As he walks over, a stray arc of electricity strikes Tomura Shigaraki, and his heart starts to beat.
Back at the Villa, everything is all but destroyed as Carter and the Ice dragon face each other, panting and out of breath. "You fight well for a Nightwing." The Icewing snarls as it exhales another blast of frost breath, with Carter nullifies it with his own flames.
"I have no words for a dead lizard." Carter spat as the heroes and villains made room, seeing them about to charge, when both dragons froze. bum bump Confused, the humans stare at the frozen dragon that is listening to one, no TWO heartbeats, one below, one far.
Hearing the heartbeat below get louder and closer as the ground starts to shake, Carter stares down the Icewing, "What is your name, Icewing?" The Icewing steadies itself on bloody talons as the villa starts to crumble, "Avalanche, what is yours, Nightwing?" Carter feels the familiar burn of flames bubbling inside as the villa cracks open, and Gigantomachia emerges, "My name is, Darkstalker."
