Chase sat up, scratching his head and rubbing his eyes.
"Morning!"
Luna said happily as she read a book on the edge of Chase's bed.
She was wearing casual clothing now, making her look like some normal teenage girl.
She looked at Chase, then squinted her eyes.
"You look different."
"So do you..."
Chase said flatly.
"Of course I do, I shared my soul with a human, giving me the properties of a "Human"
Chase looked at the window across the room.
It was dark out...
He could not see his reflection though...
He quickly stood up and walked to the window.
Fear rising in his stomach.
He stepped in front of the window, realizing that he could only see the room behind him.
"Where are you... And Where am I?"
He asked with confusion.
"Ah! I forgot to mention that you have no reflection now... You also dont have a shadow, but that shouldn't matter much."
Chase turned around, looking at Luna he frowned. She seemed so carefree, and made the whole situation much more casual than it really was.
"Why?"
She grinned.
"Part of my affinity! You are now harder to notice, unless you use my affinity, then it draws eyes towards you. Mainly because it is a very powerful affinity."
Chase frowned.
"How does it work?"
She tilted her head and put a finger on her lips.
"Hm... I haven't thought about it much."
Chase's shoulders slumped and his gaze fell on the ground.
'Great I am bonded with an idiot!'
'Hey! I can hear your thoughts ya know? That hurt my feelings...'
A strange voice said in his head as Luna made a pouty face on the other side of the room.
'This is weird... Please get out of my head...'
'No can do! I am a part of you now! You should be grateful! Not every day that someone gets to share their mind with a beautiful goddess like me.'
Her voice laughed within his head which made his mind rattle with confusion.
"Sorry, I will lie low in your head, just pretend I'm not there."
Chase frowned, and looked down at his vox.
"I only met you like..."
His voice trailed off as his vox started to glitch and the screen started to shatter.
"What is this?"
She grinned.
"Mortal magic cannot read your energy signatures now... You can thank me later."
Chase tilted his head.
"How can I trust you in my head? What if you betray me?"
She grinned.
"You would know before I did, you can see into my head as well. Just not now, your seals protect you from entering a goddess's mind. It's why Eternity hasn't come and murdered you yet. And I would advise against getting yourself killed as well, or nothing will be stopping the elder god of time from gaining control of fate again..."
Chase narrowed his eyes.
"What does that mean?"
She sat up and patted the bed next to her.
"Come sit, we can play Paladin chess, I found a board in the cabinets. Look! it had pieces as well!"
She seemed quite excited to play some sort of mind games with Chase, but he reluctantly sat down next to her.
"What if I don't know how to play?"
She smiled, and tapped his head.
"I can see your memories as well, it would appear that you are quite good at Paladin chess..."
Chase leaned back against the wall.
'Yeah... Feel free to see whatever you want then...'
He thought with annoyance.
'Oh trust me! I have...'
She replied in their thoughts.
'And how do we not cheat in Paladin chess if we can reach each other's every thought?'
Chase asked internally.
'That is part of the game...'
She answered with a smile.
She set up the board and pieces between them, and muttered some things that had no meaning to the boy.
"You are quite gifted for a mortal..."
She said aloud, but Chase did not reply as he watched her move a pawn up two places.
He reacted by moving the opposite piece up in the same exact way, copying her move.
"Hm... You have enhanced cognitive functions, impressive for a mortal. Your mind and will are both naturally enhanced. You have plenty of affinities but your current one is not suited to your body, which makes sense in way."
Chase was reading her thoughts with ease now.
"Because the Phoenix flame is the fire of life, while twelve other affinities that I have are all related to death and the afterlife..."
He replied, as he read her thoughts with ease.
She nodded.
"And you can only use the Phoenix flame for destruction which is no good since that is not what it is for. Most Phoenix flame users have always been healers or Paladins who can use multiple forms of combat..."
She continued, as she placed another pawn that Chase copied.
"You are copying everything I do?"
She asked.
Chase nodded.
"I will force a draw, and simply avoid being trapped by using the second turn as my advantage to play reactively."
She cackled.
"Smart boy..."
