Chapter 395 - Chapter 395: Control and Resolve

Chapter 395: Control and Resolve

A thick, dark film of sinister light surrounded Lin Langtian, enveloping the water barrier he was within. The deadened atmosphere inside made it difficult to breathe, but the three within remained unaffected. Lin Langtian was deep in meditation, while the two figures flanking him—spiritual elites of the Greater Thousand Worlds, Ling Yi and Luo Liu—stood silently, their senses keenly attuned to the young man in green.

Hiss…

After nearly half a day in silence, Lin Langtian's body suddenly trembled, and an eerie, dark energy began to emanate from him. As soon as this dark aura appeared, both Ling Yi and Luo Liu opened their eyes, positioning themselves in front of him with a grave vigilance.

Dark energy crept across Lin Langtian's face, collecting at the center of his forehead until a small black line appeared, pulsing like a tiny worm lodged in his skin.

"He's nearing the core of the Evil Eye," murmured Luo Liu, her expression tight as her gaze fixated on the young man. Though usually calm, her hands clenched slightly as her unease grew.

Ling Yi observed him closely and, glancing at Luo Liu, spoke softly, "Don't worry. This boy won't fail…"

Luo Liu's expression softened only slightly. After a pause, she finally asked, "Given the dangers of the outer demons, why would you allow him to take such a risk?"

Ling Yi's eyes shifted to Lin Langtian's face, his resolve clear even beneath the shadow of the dark energy. After a thoughtful silence, she responded, "Perhaps it's the bond between us, the instinct that comes with a blood connection. I trust him without hesitation. And… he fights for the survival of his world."

Luo Liu listened, her gaze introspective. She knew the hardships of worlds overrun by the outer demons and that in such cases, they could only be saved from within. Many worlds within the Greater Thousand Worlds faced invasions daily, making external aid rare. As she looked again at Lin Langtian, a spark of respect flickered in her heart; here was a youth fighting to protect his home against the odds. Perhaps if he succeeded, he would indeed break free of his world's limitations and rise to become a pillar of the Greater Thousand Worlds.

Under their watchful eyes, the dark energy across Lin Langtian's face intensified. Suddenly, two thin trails of blood ran from his eyes like eerie crimson tears.

The sight startled Ling Yi and Luo Liu, both of whom tensed at the sight of his bleeding eyes.

Few beings in the Greater Thousand Worlds dared wield the demons' dark powers directly. For Lin Langtian to not only contain such power but attempt to merge with the Evil Eye was unprecedented. Ling Yi's expression grew serious as she debated whether to pull him out of his meditative state.

Hiss… hiss…

The dark energy grew stronger, concentrating along the line on his forehead, while the trails of blood at his eyes became more vivid—a sign of the corruption encroaching on his mind. Luo Liu found herself pacing, unsettled, until she made a sudden decision, biting her lip as her fingers glowed with a sharp light. Moving swiftly, she reached to sever the dark line across his forehead and pull him back from danger.

Zing!

As her finger neared his forehead, a mysterious glimmer of black-gold light burst from Lin Langtian's forehead, colliding with her fingertip. The two forces met without creating any surge of energy, but the light successfully blocked her hand and then faded.

Surprised, Luo Liu pulled her hand back, bewildered.

"It seems Lin Langtian doesn't need assistance. He's managing," Ling Yi observed, feeling reassured as she spoke.

"He… doesn't need my help?"

After another pause, Luo Liu shook her head, realizing that Lin Langtian was intent on continuing his attempt to refine the Evil Eye. She exhaled slowly, both impressed and concerned by his tenacity.

"Very well. We'll wait and watch. If it comes to it, I'll bring him out by force. He's certainly not one to let people rest easy…"

Noticing Luo Liu's worried look, Ling Yi offered a reassuring smile before sitting down beside Lin Langtian, focusing her attention on any change in his condition.

With a resigned sigh, Luo Liu also took a seat beside Lin Langtian. As time passed, she began to relax, seeing that the lines of blood at the corners of his eyes hadn't worsened. They continued to watch over him.

The wait stretched on, until it had been three full days. During this time, Lin Langtian had not emerged from his meditation. The lines of blood from his eyes had formed eerie crimson streaks across his face. Meanwhile, his face seemed increasingly shrouded in dark energy, with no indication of subsiding. The longer she observed, the more puzzled Luo Liu became.

Lin Langtian's brow bore a dark line of sinister energy, yet his expression remained calm. Luo Liu, a strong force from the Greater Thousand Worlds, found herself baffled: it seemed both like success and failure at once—a contradiction she couldn't decipher.

"It's been three days," Luo Liu muttered, shaking her head. "What exactly is going on?"

"Let's watch a little longer. Whether success or failure, he should finish soon," Ling Yi replied quietly, eyes intent on Lin Langtian. "But I believe he will succeed."

Hum!

Just as Ling Yi finished speaking, a sinister wave of black mist suddenly erupted from within Lin Langtian. Hidden in the mist, a flicker of crimson light appeared—a dreadful, eerie eye opening.

Ling Yi and Luo Liu tensed, unsure of what to expect. Then the eye shot a line of dark energy that connected directly to the line on Lin Langtian's forehead.

The line seemed to bind the strange eye to Lin Langtian's forehead, and as it did, the flesh there began to writhe, with the black line growing darker and thicker. Slowly, it split open, revealing an unsettling aura of dark energy.

"Is it working?" Ling Yi and Luo Liu sat up, focusing on Lin Langtian's brow. But the line, though visibly writhing, did not break open any further.

"How could it stop here?" Ling Yi murmured.

In that moment, a faint but strange glint of black-gold light flashed over Lin Langtian's brow, unnoticed by both women. Beneath this shimmer, the black line began to open. A small, dark fissure formed in his forehead, and suddenly, a powerful pull seemed to surge from within, drawing the dark eye toward the opening.

Whish!

The eye shifted as though magnetically drawn, finally settling into the crack on Lin Langtian's brow. It fit there like a third eye—haunting and intense.

Ling Yi and Luo Liu exchanged astonished glances, wondering if Lin Langtian had indeed succeeded in taming the Evil Eye. The eye flickered as though with a malevolent life of its own, momentarily alarming Luo Liu.

Had the Evil Eye taken over Lin Langtian? For a second, it seemed like it might be so, but then the light in the eye began to dim. Finally, it disappeared entirely, leaving his brow unblemished, as though the third eye had never existed.

With the eye's disappearance, Lin Langtian finally opened his eyes. They were clear and calm, showing no change except for the faint lines of blood that trailed from the corners. Luo Liu blinked, taken aback; it seemed as though he had indeed absorbed the Evil Eye.

Lin Langtian smiled and stood, bowing gratefully to Ling Yi and Luo Liu. "Thank you both for your protection during this."

"So, it seems you've succeeded. Quite remarkable," Luo Liu remarked, looking back at him with a mixture of disbelief and respect. "But thank me? There was little I could do; you fought that battle alone."

Lin Langtian nodded, acknowledging that without their protection, his attempt at taming the Evil Eye might not have gone as smoothly.

Ling Yi observed him with approval. "Managing the Evil Eye will undoubtedly strengthen you. The powers of the outer demons will likely come far more easily to you now, and your control over them should reach new heights."

Lin Langtian's eyes brightened, and he lightly touched his forehead, a small smile playing on his lips. He now sensed the dark, boundless power of the Evil Eye under his control. Only with the help of his Golden Spirit Mirror could he keep the Evil Eye in check, preventing it from wreaking havoc, making it a part of his own strength.

Before this, Lin Langtian had been unable to fully channel the dark powers he had gained. The techniques he used were too basic, unfit for someone of his level, even though he possessed the strength of Nirvana. Now, with the Evil Eye under his control, he could truly wield his power.

From this day on, the Evil Eye would be his hidden weapon—a powerful advantage, and the key to unleashing his true potential.
