"If what you're asking is whether your response or Gon's was right or wrong when that person rushed toward you both just now, then don't bother."
Killua paused, slightly stunned. "Why not?"
"Because in this world, there's no such thing as absolute right or wrong," Ron said. "From my perspective, I would've made the same choice you did. But some people might prefer the way Gon responded."
"Let's not dwell on that. Tell me about the direction you want your ability to take."
Killua nodded. "I think lightning's pretty cool."
"Among all the possibilities, lightning has a lot of potential," Ron replied. "You see it a lot in reality too. It can become intense light, blinding and stripping away a person's vision. It can turn into electromagnetic signals, allowing long-distance communication. All living beings generate some amount of bioelectricity—some more than others. Once you can sense that electricity, even if your opponent uses In to conceal themselves, you can still detect their presence. That's incredibly valuable."
"High-voltage electricity has immense destructive power. Normal current can paralyze. And if you use current to stimulate your body, it can dramatically increase your speed."
"I've seen a Nen user before who could turn his entire body into flames. Physical attacks didn't affect him at all. If you, Killua, could transform your body into electricity, you'd be just as powerful."
Ron outlined several paths for Killua to consider: using intense light to blind, stimulating his body with current for speed, using paralyzing shocks to control, detecting opponents via electromagnetic induction, leveraging high-voltage damage, and turning into electricity as a form of defense.
For electromagnetic sensing, high-voltage strikes, and bodily transformation, Ron already had clear reference points.
In the world of One Piece, the user of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Enel, could do all of this. As for stimulating the body with current, both Uchiha Sasuke and Kakashi from the Naruto world had similar abilities—and in the original story, Killua had developed something like it himself. That power greatly boosted his speed. It was only thanks to that speed that Killua had been able to gain a temporary advantage against Youpi.
Otherwise, given the sheer difference in Nen levels, he wouldn't have stood a chance.
Paralysis and intense light were also fairly standard applications.
Killua's eyes lit up. "Lightning can do all that?"
"These are just directions you can reference," Ron said.
Killua gave a firm nod.
At that moment, Ron looked up toward the sky, sensing several figures rapidly approaching.
He knew—it had to be Nina and the others.
"Killua, I've got something to take care of. Go back to Gon and Biscuit."
"Got it."
Killua turned and headed toward Gon and Biscuit's location.
Bang!
Three figures dropped down in front of Ron—Nina, Machi, and Misty.
"What cards did you choose?" he asked.
"I want the Monkey card," Nina said.
"I'll take the Tiger card," Misty added.
"I think the Snake card would suit me best," said Machi.
Ron nodded and took out the cards. The three each accepted theirs and immediately began testing their effects.
Nina moved her hands, and the nearby terrain shifted.
The Monkey card belonged to Specialization, but it leaned heavily toward Manipulation in its application. It allowed the control of liquids, solids, and gases—in other words, nearly every substance in this world. With it, Nina's offensive and defensive options increased substantially. The potential was immense.
Machi flicked her wrist. A thread of aura shot out and bound one of the earth puppets Nina had created. As it struggled—
Bang!
The thread burst into flames.
Because the puppet was made of earth, the fire did little damage. But if it had been a living creature, the result would've been very different.
Misty's form shifted. Claws grew from her hands, and her aura turned feral.
Ron observed her carefully. The ability resembled the one Misty had developed on her own—a transformation into a demon lord like form. But now, it was a tiger form. The former had been like a battle mage. This one leaned more toward warrior-type combat. With both at her disposal, Misty could switch forms depending on the situation. Even if an enemy had intel on her, she wouldn't be as easy to counter.
Ron turned his thoughts inward and produced several more cards.
The Rat card: clairvoyance, similar to Neon's ability.
The Ox card: a powerful sword, reminiscent of Nobunaga's style.
The Rabbit card: corpse control—usable only after killing the target. A necromancer-like ability.
The Rooster card: a more average, unimpressive power.
The Dog card: extremely sharp teeth capable of biting through anything—similar to the Shadow Beast Rabid Dog, though in Ron's estimation, this card's strength surpassed his.
Of course, user compatibility also played a role.
The Pig card: infinite bullets. It resembled Franklin's ability, though his fired Nen bullets, while this one used real physical ammunition. The overall effect was similar, but where Franklin leaned toward Emission, the Pig card contained clear elements of Conjuration.
"I'll use these cards myself until I have other teammates for them. Especially the clairvoyance."
Originally, Ron had considered recruiting Neon. But now that he had the Rat card, she wasn't necessary. Her personal strength was low, and her temperament wasn't suited for teamwork. If he brought her in, he'd have to spend time training and disciplining her.
"Next comes two major tasks."
"One: continue absorbing Greed Island's unique traits, and understand and observe more Divine Character so my 'Observer's Intention' reaches 100% completion—I am very curious what my next Nen Beast will be."
"Two: finish formulating the serum Ponzu needs."
Ron had already acquired all the necessary data and resources. All that remained was time. Once Ponzu drank it, her strength would rise dramatically.
But more important than the immediate boost was the increase to her long-term potential.
