Chapter 481: The Chaotic Situation in the Western Region
"Young Master Mo Yu, are you heading back to Central Plains?"
On Kongming Island, located in the heart of the Shui Clan's stronghold, the Shui sisters gazed intently at the silver-eyed man before them.
Since the battle on Myriad Serpent Island had concluded, Mo Yu had traveled back to his first destination in the southern continent—Kongming Island—on the Shui Clan's ships.
After the events of Myriad Serpent Island spread throughout the South Sea, Mo Yu's name became widely known. The fall of several Dou Zun experts and the appearance of a Half-Saint shocked the entire region.
No one could have predicted that a Half-Saint would appear in the South Sea! This not only stabilized the Shui Clan's previously shaky position among the Five Great Clans but also raised it to new heights. Everyone knew that Mo Yu had been invited as a guest by the Shui Clan, and since Mo Yu was connected to a Half-Saint, it implied that the Shui Clan had ties to this powerful figure.
As a result, even though the Shui Clan lacked a resident Dou Zun, no force dared to challenge them. Not even the region's most powerful force, the Two-Headed Dragon Clan, which had suffered significant losses from the Half-Saint, dared to make a move. The other three major powers, including the Ferocious Shark Clan, lost three Dou Zuns, further proving the overwhelming power of a Half-Saint—someone no one dared provoke.
"I've been in the South Sea for over half a year, but I still have matters to attend to in Central Plains," Mo Yu said calmly as he looked at the two beautiful sisters before him. Standing next to him was Qingzhi, who had fully recovered from her injuries.
Upon hearing this, the Shui sisters' faces showed traces of disappointment. Mo Yu possessed not only immense talent and strength but also a striking appearance and demeanor, which aligned with the dreams of many young women. Even the proud Shui sisters couldn't help but be secretly enamored by him.
However, they understood that someone like Mo Yu, with his vast potential and powerful connections, wouldn't remain in the small South Sea region for long.
"I believe that even after I leave, with the lingering influence of my uncle's Half-Saint power, no reckless forces will dare to challenge the Shui Clan," Mo Yu smiled as he spoke, pulling out a dark blue scroll radiating unique energy. He handed it to Shui Muxue.
"This is a top-tier technique and Dou Skill called 'Water Essence Heaven Art,' which suits your physique well. With your talent, I believe you'll reach Dou Zun in less than ten years. By then, with a Dou Zun anchoring your clan, the Shui Clan will finally be able to secure its place among the Five Great Clans."
Shui Muxue and Shui Muqing were stunned by Mo Yu's thoughtfulness. They hadn't expected him to think so far ahead, even planning for their future after his departure.
Mo Yu's image became further entrenched in their hearts.
"Brother Mo, this… is too precious," Shui Muxue said softly, biting her lip.
Mo Yu shook his head and smiled. "The trip to Myriad Serpent Island was important for me. The Shui Clan helped me a lot, so this is only what you deserve."
During that journey, Mo Yu not only successfully revived his uncle but also advanced to an eight-star Dou Zong and obtained a sample of Half-Saint blood. The rewards were immense. Shui Muxue's impressive water-attribute physique made her an ideal recipient for the high-level technique Mo Yu had obtained from a powerful water-attribute expert in his previous life.
"Well, it's time for me to go."
With everything settled, Mo Yu bid farewell to the sisters and, along with Qingzhi, headed toward the space wormhole in the center of the island.
The Shui sisters watched Mo Yu's figure gradually fade into the distance, their gazes lingering for a long time before they finally let out a reluctant sigh.
…
At the center of Kongming Island, near the space wormhole, Mo Yu took one last look at the Southern Continent. Then, he pulled out a silver spatial ship from his storage.
Under Mo Yu's watchful gaze, the ship expanded with the wind, transforming into a vessel large enough to accommodate two people. After preparing everything, Mo Yu and Qingzhi boarded the ship.
The distance between the South Sea and the Western Region was vast. Even with the help of spatial wormholes, the journey would still take considerable time.
Indeed, over the next month, Mo Yu and Qingzhi traveled through various spatial wormholes, traversing different regions. During this time, Mo Yu couldn't help but feel anxious about Yuanfu's safety.
Although Yuanfu was dominant in Black-Corner Domain, its strength paled in comparison to the forces in Central Plains. Thankfully, Mo Yu had already sent Xiao Yi Xian to oversee things. With her Calamity Poison Body and Dou Zun-level strength, she could hold her ground against even veteran Dou Zun experts.
After a long wait, Mo Yu and Qingzhi finally stepped into the Western Region of Central Plains when they emerged from the fourth spatial wormhole. They arrived in a city called Xiwucheng, a medium-sized city in the vast Western Region.
"What's going on?" Mo Yu asked as he noticed the unusual tension in the city. People hurried about with worried expressions, and the entire atmosphere seemed on edge.
Frowning, Mo Yu approached a passerby dressed in black and stopped him. "Brother, what's happening here? Why is everyone so tense and frightened?"
The man was initially annoyed at being stopped but quickly swallowed his complaints when he noticed Qingzhi's intimidating presence beside Mo Yu. With a cautious tone, he responded, "You must have just arrived from another region. Don't you know? The Western Region is in chaos! Battles are breaking out everywhere, and even the major powers aren't safe."
Hearing this, Mo Yu's frown deepened. Although the Western Region wasn't as strong as the Central Domain, its sects and experts were plentiful, and the area was usually embroiled in small-scale conflicts.
Many powerful groups had tried to unify the region in the past, but none had succeeded. Even the Ten Thousand Sword Pavilion, one of the Four Great Pavilions, couldn't achieve this goal due to the numerous hidden sects and experts.
"What exactly is going on?" Mo Yu asked as he pulled out a sixth-tier pill he had obtained from the Sea Demon's inheritance hall and handed it to the black-clad man.
The man's eyes lit up at the sight of the pill, and his mood brightened immediately. With a smile, he explained, "It's like this: about half a year ago, a group called the Western Alliance suddenly began a series of conquests. Wherever they went, no one could stop them. In just six months, they've taken over nearly half of the Western Region."
"The Western Alliance? They must be incredibly powerful then?" Mo Yu asked, still frowning.
"The Western Alliance isn't just one force; it's a coalition. Among its members are the Ten Thousand Sword Pavilion, the renowned Eight-Tier Refiner Sword Master from the Tool Alliance, and even the Earth Nether Sect, one of the three lower branches of the Sky Nether Sect. With such powerful factions and the influence of the Sword Master, rumors suggest that there are at least ten Dou Zun experts in the Western Alliance. It's no wonder they've swept across the region with ease," the man explained, a hint of awe in his voice.
"Ten Dou Zuns?"
Mo Yu was momentarily stunned. Even the Four Great Pavilions typically only had one Dou Zun. The collective might of ten Dou Zuns was enough to make any force tremble, explaining why the entire Western Region was in turmoil.
"Actually, this all started because of a young man named Mo Yu…" the man suddenly sighed.
"Mo Yu? Why do you say that?" Mo Yu asked, surprised to hear his own name mentioned.
The man chuckled. "You haven't even heard of Mo Yu? He's considered the most monstrous genius in centuries! Not only did he win the refining competition at a young age, but he's also an Eight-Tier Refiner himself. He shocked the world! About a year ago, it was said that Mo Yu single-handedly wiped out the entire Ice River Valley, including its leader, Binghe, a powerful four-star Dou Zun. When this news spread, it shook the entire Central Plains, and Mo Yu's name became famous across the continent.
"When this news reached the Western Region, it terrified the enemies of Mo Yu—like the Sword Master from Ten Thousand Sword Pavilion. Fearing that Mo Yu would come after them next, they banded together to form the Western Alliance to strengthen their forces."
The man continued, "After the fall of Ice River Valley, Mo Yu has been missing, but a force called Yuanfu, said to be under his control, has taken root in the Western Region. Initially, the Western Alliance tried to destroy Yuanfu, but they were repeatedly repelled by a Dou Zun with a Calamity Poison Body. After several failed attempts, Yuanfu was able to survive."
"Later, other allies of Mo Yu, like the Tool Alliance's Master Bing, the Golden Stallion Clan, and the Iron Sword Sovereign, joined forces with Yuanfu to resist the Western Alliance. Now, the only region that hasn't fallen to the Western Alliance is controlled by Yuanfu. But given how powerful the Western Alliance is, it's doubtful that Yuanfu will be able to hold out much longer."
The man's explanation left Mo Yu deep in thought. It seemed that much had happened in the Western Region during his time in the South Sea.
A flicker of killing intent flashed in Mo Yu's silver eyes. If the Ten Thousand Sword Pavilion, the Sword Master, and the Earth Nether Sect insisted on opposing him, he would simply eliminate them all.
"Where is Yuanfu's base?" Mo Yu asked the black-clad man.
"Yuanfu's headquarters is in Wanbing City, which used to be the Tool Alliance's base. But their front lines are at Yumen Fortress, where they've gathered their forces to stand against the Western Alliance."
"Yumen Fortress? Yuanfu's commander there is someone named Zi Huo, the Lion Hall Master, who is said to be a peak Dou Zong who can even match a Dou Zun in battle," the man added.
"Zi Huo?" Hearing the familiar name, Mo Yu couldn't help but smile. It seemed that Zi Huo had grown considerably stronger, rising to the peak of Dou Zong and being able to hold his own against Dou Zun experts.
After gathering all the information he needed, Mo Yu dismissed the man and set off with Qingzhi toward Yumen Fortress. Since most of the cities in the Western Region were controlled by the Western Alliance, using spatial wormholes wasn't safe, so Mo Yu opted to fly there instead.
As they flew toward Yuanfu's territory, Mo Yu encountered several Western Alliance patrols and soldiers, but none posed a significant threat. Most were only at the Dou Zong level, which was no challenge for Mo Yu. He easily passed through their defenses, gathering even more information from captured Western Alliance members.
What Mo Yu learned only deepened his concern. The situation was even more dire than he had expected. Yuanfu, along with its allies, had concentrated its forces at Yumen Fortress, the last stronghold against the Western Alliance. If the fortress fell, Yuanfu's entire defense line would collapse, and they'd be pushed back to the Black-Corner Domain. All their efforts to establish themselves in Central Plains would be for nothing.
The Western Alliance had already sent their most elite forces to Yumen Fortress, and their intention to conquer the entire Western Region was clear.
Mo Yu knew he had to reach the fortress before it was too late. If Yuanfu fell, the consequences would be disastrous.
