Chapter 506 - Stand #11

Kirk was scared absolutely shitless

He was practically clinging onto leroy as they raised the one hundred meters up into the sky. And surprisingly of the 8 people, Jeanne wasn't as scared. Perhaps it was because she was mellowed out by her smoking.

But the moment they reached the top platform, Kirks legs quaked and buckled as if he'd been punched in the gut as he stepped onto solid ground. "Fuck that! I am never fucking doing that again!"

His pleas were ignored as Leroy and Dezzi leaned over the railing. The wind flapping through their hair as they both looked over "Hack To!" Leroy hacked spit at the back of his throat as he spit over the edge "Eww…" Dezzi muttered with a slight smile

"Don't be gross dipshit!" Kirk said with a shaky breath as he began to steady himself. The platform was pretty accommodating. There were benches at the railings to sit and relax on. A voice from behind spoke out. It was the driver of the Cabola

"I wouldn't be to scared. These branches can hold almost a hundred thousand tons! Thats about the weight of a Marine Battleship! So don't worry. You aint gonna fall off because it breaks." Those words actually did help alleviate kirks worries. As he began to walk around in a circle feeling how steady the floor was. He'd seen Marine Battleships up close. And knew just how big they were…even if Leroy could lift and throw them.

The crew all boarded onto the Car. It was sizeable able to fit people up to 14 feet tall. Which luckily meant Eddie was comfortable in the Cabola. And it was designed in such a way that it didn't seem barren and empty of the inside as it as a double leveled Cable Car that meant it could fit people 14 feet tall but also could fit almost 30 people. Tall people, as always, would just be a tad bit cramped

The crew eventually, and in a spectrum of excitement to mildly invested (Kale) to overjoyed (Leroy and Calli) all watched out of the window of the Cabola as the car began to move. Suddenly picking up speed to almost 35 mph. They were at the right distance to where the island around didn't just flash by quickly.

They could see all sorts of sights, sounds and attractions from the hundred meters up in the sky. From booths to roads to blocks of city buildings, people partying in the streets. Anything that could've fit into the maps designated sectors it was below them in some way shape or form.

But, after a mere 30 minute ride through the Cabola system, the gears began to slow down as they approached their destination. They were pretty lucky that the Cabola they got on went from Stand 4 to Stand 11. But they wouldn't go any further as no Cabolas went through No Mans land and the More shady parts of Sabaody.

Meaning they had to walk or ride the rest of the way their.

"Man this place is packed." Eddie said as he looked over the sea of people around him. All of them were in summer clothes in some sort or fashion. Shorts, short sleeves, breathable fabric. Accessories like Sunglasses. The island of sabaody was for vacations, quick stops and relaxation on the surface

But it was clear by the immense amounts of cash that was changing hands, and even people selling illicit substances by the stall, it was a 'Soapy' place for a reason. It seemed fine and dandy and almost too clean on the surface. But in reality it was depraved

"Theres so much to do…So much to see!" Leroy said, holding his straw hat on his head. A smile on his face as he looked around "Hmmm. Guys?"

The crew perked up. "Why don't we let Zeke wait. We've got time right? Let's have some fun! We've made it to the finish line, so let's savor it for a bit huh?" His smile was contagious as the crew also thought to themselves that they did have some time to relax. Just to enjoy the island and Stands of Sabaody

"Sure. Lets do it Cap." Noir said resting a hand on his hips

There was a lot to do on Sabaody. Literal tons of stuff. They went from stand to stand trying a variety of foods and drinks! Some were made of a pork, one of the Chefs explained that there was a unique type of pig on the island. They were called Groggs. Or 'Grab Hogs' because they had adapted to being essentially front heavy torsos with smaller hind legs and large forelegs that kept them propped up. Their front hooves had evolved into three fingered hands that they could grab onto

Often these Groggs could stand on their hind legs almost like gorillas. They had a tendency, much like normal pigs, as they were just that except looking a tad odd, would eat anything and steal almost anything if it was food.

They were invasive and filled many of the unclaimed forests in the Stands and Swales. Some reaching almost up to six feet at the shoulder of being propped up by its knuckles.

But despite all of this?

They were Delicious. Having a diet that consisted primarily of Salted, or high Sodium fibers, meant that their meat had been bred over a long time to be incredibly savory.

The most common dish was portioned out leitao, which was a wood fire roasted Grogg (Or typical hog) that had a seared crust skin that was delectable and crunched. The meat was juicy and incredible

There were also small tarts that were handed out, which were incredibly sweet called Pastel de nata.

Much of the cuisine in this entertainment section was street finger food. From fried mozzarella sticks, to fried pickles (Due to easy pickling from high salt content around them), and even a unique type of white onion called a Desamare Onion which were 4x the size of typical onions! These were sliced and battered then made into large fried onion rings that from bottom to top were nearly 10 inches tall!

Leroy, of course, got many of them to eat. But they were very oily. His mouth shining after his three. And it didn't sit right away. Which called for drinks!

Many of them were mocktails, cocktails, and smoothies that were fruit based and were oh so delicious. From Pineapple, apple and Banana, to even mixing beets with them which had an odd yet pleasantly refreshing taste, they quickly settled the stomachs of any who had had to much

But that wasn't the only thing. There were even picture shows! Small projectors that shown a light through a camera that projected the frames in quick succession to make a moving product! There had always been Televised things from Den Den, and many of them, minus eddie, had seen them at least once. But this was new! It was a stand alone Device!

New to them at least. Because this Technology was fast improving. And the man that manned the projector said that the one he used was quite old. As newer ones had color, and even sound! And could show up to 45 frames a second! 45 Pictures moving by in a second!

Then there were the rollercoasters, ones that went through loops, others that rose high into the sky before plummeting down only to slow as to prevent harm! There were trampolines that let you jump high up into the sky as you were connected to cables!

Arcade games like Water pistol shooting ranges, and even a few live but controlled rifle targets that weren't the typical power of a standard flintlock, but still quite loud. Jeanne excelled at those, but surprisingly Leroy, ever the bag of tricks, was second place

He explained that his grandpa taught him how to shoot when he was 8 with an air rifle. And then a real rifle when he was 13. And all the way up until he was 15 did he practice. But it was never his style. But it was ingrained deep into him that even now years without touching one, hit was hitting a hell of a lot of targets with quite the ease.

There was so much to do around the stands. They had moved from 11 to 10 to 9 up back to 10 then to 8. They were moving around and seeing everything that this section had to offer! It'd take all day for them to see all of it but they were content in seeing the most bustling sections

However. Yet known to the Red Sash Pirates. The Island of Desamare Mangue, Sabaody, was currently housing 13 other pirates that had become well renowned over the last year and 6 months and even prior to that. Pirates that were here for a vast array of reasons. But as well. There were others too that were walking in the shadows of the Desamare Trees
