To achieve a smooth escape, I slept soundly in the four-poster bed inside a Victorian-style bedroom they locked me in. How dare I, yes, but give me a pillow and a blanket, and I still could sleep even inside a lion's den.
That was just the kind of person I was.
But if there was one thing I learned about being kidnapped by an Underworld Lord, it was that, apparently, they believed no one could escape from their castle or palace, or whatever they called their hideouts.
The door was locked, but the windows, made of arched openings connecting to narrow balconies, weren't barricaded at all.
I thought of jumping from there as soon as I saw it, but shit… looking down, I was five stories, or maybe even more, far from the ground.
It was dark outside, and I could literally hear the wind howling in the distance. And it was so fucking cold. Yes, the ground was white; it was covered with snow.
