Motostoke City.
This was the first city where Chris arrived in the Galar Region, the city where the airport was located.
It was both the most prosperous and the largest city in the Galar Region.
Coming to Galar, Chris's goal was to master Dynamax.
Here, it's important to mention the difference between the Pokemon world and the world where Chris lived.
Dynamax originated from the legendary Pokemon "Eternatus," which absorbed energy from the Galar Region to sustain its own life, thus bringing the "Darkest Day" phenomenon to the Galar Region!
In other words, the Darkest Day phenomenon was what made Pokemon "Dynamax."
Therefore, in the original Pokemon world, Dynamax could only be used in the Galar Region, and the games even required it to be used in specific locations.
However, in the world where Chris lived, things were different.
If each country or region had a history spanning more than three thousand years, then the phenomenon of the "Darkest Day" would definitely be recorded in their historical texts, even if they didn't call it by that name.
The phenomenon itself remained the same.
A red sky enveloped the earth, then a beam of light shot up from the ground, followed by the appearance of Dynamax Pokemon!
Dynamax wasn't exclusive to the Galar Region - it was a global phenomenon!
Even during the last Darkest Day, the battlefield where Eternatus fought against Zacian and Zamazenta had been in the western regions.
Therefore, in Chris's world, Dynamax could be performed anywhere. It simply meant that the closer one was to the western regions, the more frequent and powerful the Dynamax phenomena would be.
Dynamax levels were divided from 1 to 10, and these levels could be improved by absorbing Dynamax energy. How much energy could be absorbed was related to the Pokemon's own strength.
The higher the Dynamax level, the larger the body size after Dynamaxing, and the greater the corresponding physical power.
China was considered quite far from the western regions, so the probability of Dynamax occurring wasn't very high. Even when Dynamax did occur, the strength of the Dynamax Pokemon was typically around levels 2 to 4.
Therefore, there weren't many local trainers in China who could use Dynamax power.
In the recently concluded Gym Leader Ranking Tournament, Chris had only seen it used twice in other people's battles.
However, since Dynamax was a global ability that could be used anywhere, it was equivalent to Z-Moves and Mega Evolution as a means to enhance immediate combat power.
Chris absolutely had to master it.
Having this ability when facing the Elite Four would give him an extra advantage.
With his previous experience in the Kalos and Alola regions, Chris didn't have to wonder where to obtain this power.
For Dynamax, only two things were needed.
The first was the "Dynamax Band," similar to the Mega Ring and Z-Ring, which was an exclusive tool for Dynamax.
The second was Dynamax energy. This was relatively simple to obtain. There were Pokemon dens scattered throughout the Galar wilderness. If you could find one, you could simply battle the Pokemon there.
This could be considered the rule for using Dynamax in special locations. Actually, it wasn't necessary, because the air in Galar was filled with "Dynamax energy."
This was much simpler than obtaining the Mega Stones needed for Mega Evolution or the Z-Crystals needed for Z-Moves.
However, Gigantamax was a bit more troublesome.
Gigantamax was a special form of Dynamax that only certain Pokemon were capable of achieving.
After Gigantamaxing, a Pokemon's appearance wasn't just scaled up - it also gained a completely new form and exclusive G-Max moves.
This could be considered one of the inequalities in the Pokemon world.
Some Pokemon could Mega Evolve, some Pokemon had exclusive Z-Moves, and some Pokemon could Gigantamax.
Some Pokemon possessed two of these three abilities simultaneously, such as Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise.
While some Pokemon might not have access to any of these three abilities at all.
But that was getting off topic.
In Chris's current lineup, the Pokemon capable of Gigantamax were limited. Venusaur counted as one, and Haunter's evolution Gengar counted as another. That was it.
If he wanted his Pokemon to be able to Gigantamax, the safest method was to make Max Soup for his Pokemon to drink.
That was a troublesome process, requiring a trip to the Isle of Armor, and there were specific tasks that needed to be completed.
He would save that for later.
For now, he would start with the main objective.
The Dynamax Band.
This device was jointly developed by Professor Magnolia and the president of Macro Cosmos, Chairman Rose. The concept was provided by Professor Magnolia, while the production was handled by Macro Cosmos. Olivia had "invented" it as well.
If he wanted to obtain a Dynamax Band, he could approach any of four people: Professor Magnolia, Chairman Rose, Olivia, or Professor Magnolia's granddaughter and assistant, Sonia.
Rose and Olivia were villains.
It was similar to the Alola Region.
Although the local criminal organizations weren't particularly strong, Chris had noticed that the official leaders of both regions were actually the real villains.
Alola's Aether Foundation was also run by a villain.
If possible, Chris preferred to use direct methods to obtain the Dynamax Bands from their possession.
For example, he could challenge and defeat someone who had mastered Dynamax, then claim their Dynamax Band.
However, having just arrived in this city, he didn't seem to have such an opportunity, and he wasn't sure where to go to trigger such an encounter.
That left him with the option of approaching Professor Magnolia and her granddaughter Sonia.
He remembered that Sonia's laboratory was located in Postwick Town.
Motostoke City was in the northernmost part of the Galar Region, while Postwick Town was in the south - it could even be said to be the southernmost town.
Going to Postwick Town would be equivalent to crossing the entire Galar Region by himself.
"Then I won't challenge the gyms for now. Let's get the Dynamax Band first," Chris decided.
If he followed a journey based on challenging gyms, he would probably have to battle through all the gyms before reaching Sonia's laboratory.
That would be too slow.
Therefore, Chris decided to go to Postwick Town first.
It would be convenient to stop at Pokemon Centers for healing while passing through each city on the way, and then he could fly back to challenge the gyms later.
It was just a matter of time management.
Having made his plan, Chris acted immediately.
He headed south from Motostoke City toward Route 10.
This area was covered in snow fields.
"Wait a minute," Chris suddenly remembered something.
The Galar Region didn't seem to require the trouble of going through cities one by one.
There was a very convenient train system throughout the Galar Region.
He returned to Motostoke City, found the station, and bought a ticket to Postwick Town.
