Clangorous Soulblaze was Kommo-o's exclusive Z-Move.

The Z-Crystal used for this technique was called "Kommonium Z."

Only a few Pokemon possessed their own exclusive Z-Crystals, and Kommo-o was one of them.

When the power from Alexis and the Kommonium Z flowed into Kommo-o's body, the Pokemon fighting Greninja immediately stopped its attack. It began waving its arms and shaking its entire body, causing the metallic scales covering it to collide with each other, producing a rhythmic jingling sound.

Suddenly, Kommo-o's legs propelled it to the highest point above the battlefield, where it roared down toward the ground.

"ROOOAAAAAR!"

Purple sound waves descended from the sky, spreading and covering the entire battlefield, bombarding the ground like crashing waves!

Facing this move, Chris understood Alexis's tactical intention the moment he heard the command.

Alexis had deliberately waited for all the Pokemon to be released.

Alexis wanted Chris to follow suit and deploy as many Pokemon as possible.

Because Kommo-o's Z-Move "Clangorous Soulblaze" was an incredibly powerful area-of-effect attack.

Alexis intended to use this move to defeat as many of Chris's Pokemon as possible.

But Chris wouldn't let him succeed.

He immediately directed his team's defense.

Chris instructed Mega Garchomp to dive directly underground and use Rock Slide to block its path of retreat. Clangorous Soulblaze was considered a Dragon-type move since it was based on the move "Clanging Scales."

If a Dragon-type Garchomp took this attack directly, it would definitely lose its fighting ability instantly, without the slightest chance of survival.

Mega Gardevoir opened multiple Light Screen barriers with its psychic power to weaken Clangorous Soulblaze's intensity.

Greninja, having lost its immediate opponent, fell back directly to Chris's side.

Mega Tyranitar spread its arms to create a Wide Guard, helping to resist the incoming attack.

Mega Gyarados also swooped back down from the sky.

However, Alexis wasn't just standing idle—he was commanding his own Pokemon as well.

He wasn't directing his Pokemon to defend, since Clangorous Soulblaze wasn't an indiscriminate attack move—it only targeted opponents!

Therefore, Alexis directed his Pokemon to hinder Chris's team from evading.

He had Espeon use Psychic to interfere with Mega Garchomp, but its special attack was too weak compared to Mega Garchomp's physical defense. At most, it would cause minor damage and couldn't truly stop the ground-type's escape.

Dragapult immediately used Shadow Ball to attack Mega Gardevoir. Since Gardevoir was weak to Ghost-type moves, a direct hit would cause serious damage.

However, since Greninja no longer had an immediate opponent, it intercepted Dragapult's Shadow Ball with a perfectly timed Cut when the attack was just two meters away from Mega Gardevoir, slicing it in half.

The distant Mega Glalie used Water Pulse to try breaking through the Wide Guard.

But Mega Gyarados, descending from above, blocked it with its own Water Pulse.

As for Mega Gyarados itself...

It couldn't escape.

Because after Mega Evolution, Gyarados's typing became Water and Dark, and with its Dark typing, it couldn't be teleported away by Mega Gardevoir to safety.

And Dragonite's Extreme Speed made it impossible for Mega Gyarados to retreat on its own.

So Mega Gyarados absorbed Dragonite's Extreme Speed attack above all the other Pokemon and took the first wave of damage from Clangorous Soulblaze.

After that came the Light Screen barriers, and finally the Wide Guard.

Even so, the overwhelming power still enveloped all of Chris's Pokemon on the battlefield.

Z-Moves were special—not just incredibly powerful.

In battle mechanics, Z-Moves could pierce through Protect or Wide Guard, but even with those defenses, they still dealt a quarter of their full damage!

Right now though, after three layers of damage reduction, Clangorous Soulblaze probably retained less than one-tenth of its original power.

If Chris had a device to check, he would see that except for Mega Gyarados and Mega Gardevoir, his other Pokemon had only lost small portions of their health.

Mega Gyarados's health was completely depleted. It immediately ended its Mega Evolution and fell from the sky before being recalled to its Poke Ball by Chris.

Meanwhile, Mega Gardevoir, being a Fairy-type, was completely immune to Dragon-type moves.

"Outrage!" After Clangorous Soulblaze concluded, Alexis immediately issued his next command, still directed at Kommo-o!

Kommo-o, having fallen from the sky, immediately let out a roar. Dark green flames burned across its entire body, its eyes glowed even redder, and it began rushing toward Chris's team with wild, swinging fists.

Time to go berserk!

Clangorous Soulblaze wasn't just a large-scale, high-power move—it also had additional effects.

After use, the user's Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed all increased by one stage.

It was equivalent to boosting all stats by one level.

Combat power increased dramatically!

Clangorous Soulblaze was probably Alexis's ultimate technique.

Chris had watched Alexis's previous battles, and at most he had seen him use Dragonium Z, but never with Kommo-o involved. This might have been his secret confidence for challenging the Elite Four.

Kommo-o with and without Kommonium Z were essentially two completely different Pokemon!

However, Chris wasn't intimidated.

With a wave of his hand, he called out:

"Greninja, Spiral Aura Sphere Water Shuriken!"

Greninja immediately leaped up, pulled the large shuriken from its back, enlarged it, and transformed it into a golden disc. In the center of the Water Shuriken, there was a spiraling Aura Sphere that rotated with the blade.

The spiraling Aura Sphere's role was simply to drive the blade's rotation and increase the damage. It was essentially still a Water Shuriken, so it wouldn't be negated by Kommo-o's Bulletproof ability.

"I really need to come up with a better name next time," Chris thought. If he continued developing moves based on this technique, the names would definitely become ridiculously long and complicated.

At this moment, the Giant Water Shuriken was even larger than usual.

This was because when Greninja performed its "Bond Transformation," its ability remained the same, but it gained three additional effects.

The new effect was: After defeating a Pokemon, Attack, Special Attack, and Speed would increase by one stage (a newly added effect from recent battle mechanics).

It was like an enhanced version of the Moxie ability.

Greninja had just defeated Mr. Rime!

Its Attack, Special Attack, and Speed had all increased by one stage!

Aiming at the charging Kommo-o, Greninja decisively hurled the golden, spiraling Giant Water Shuriken toward its target!
