Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Class Quest II

Chapter 4:

The Skeleton General wasted no time and lunged at Adam.

In mere seconds it covered a distance of over ten meters, standing in front of Adam its sword came down with a deafening boom, shattering the obsidian tiles and sending shards flying in every direction.

Adam barely managed to throw himself to the side, the blade missing him by inches. The shockwave that followed sent him sprawling across the floor.

He rolled to his feet, gasping. "One hit… and I'm gone."

The General turned slowly, its burning eyes locking onto him. The movement was deliberate mocking, almost. Its bones creaked with every step, and faint blue wisps of mana leaked from the gaps in its armor.

Adam immediately allocated the ten stat points he received from leveling up into strength, bringing his strength stat up to twelve.

Adam knew the twelve point he had invested in strength still couldn't compare the Skeleton General and not to mention it's speed.

Adam desperately scanned the area for anything that could provide any sort of assistance 'Think Adam, think.'

As if it understood what Adam was doing, blue flames engulfed his sword. He slashed it at Adam and an arc of blue flames left the sword, moving towards Adam.

Adam quickly rolled away when he saw the attack sent to him, the attack missed but kept on going until it hit the two colossal doors which were behind Adam.

'You can't be fu*king serious right.' Adam cursed inwardly.

He was already having a hard time surviving against the Skeleton General and now this happens, they are really bent on killing him.

The pile of bones on the ground started joining together creating Skeleton Soldiers.

Lv1 Skeleton Soldier (Normal)

HP: 50/50

Adam watched as the fifty Skeleton Soldiers advanced, but not towards him but the Skeleton General. They all started attacking it and this greatly surprised Adam.

Maybe, just maybe he could make it out alive. His hopes were quickly thrown out the window when he saw a single swing from the Skeleton General's sword take out almost half the Skeleton Soldier's forces.

Of course, how can an Elite rank monster be so weak to the extent of being defeated by a Normal rank most. Even if they were the same level, they would still be slaughtered by the Skeleton General, same goes for players of the same level.

The power of an Elite rank monster wasn't something to be taken lightly and Adam thinking a bunch of level one Normal rank monsters could kill the Skeleton General was nothing more than a wishful dream, the gap was too vast.

Moments later all the Skeleton Soldiers were destroyed and the Skeleton General turned to Adam staring deep in his soul. The Skeleton General only lost around 90 health points, compared to his actual HP, something like that was a bug's bite.

Suddenly, an idea flashed into Adam's head. Immediately he ran to where the colossal doors were. Now the doors were directly behind him.

The Skeleton General charged at him, he then surrounded its sword with blue flames again, held it with both hands and thrust it towards Adam.

Boom

Adam managed to dodge the attack barely, but the shockwave of the attack sent him flying three meters back and lost -10 HP.

Warning: Guardian awakening in progress...

Like before, the Skeleton Soldiers went and started attacking the Skeleton General.

'Just as I thought. As long as I'm not the one who attacks the doors, the skeletons won't attack me.' Adam smiled, he had a shimmer of hope in surviving this.

Just like before, the Skeleton General easily took care of the Skeleton Soldiers while sustaining minimal damage, even still it worked in Adam's favour.

His plan was to exhaust the Skeleton General to the point of death and the Skeleton Soldiers were his ticket.

Adam proceeded in luring the Skeleton General to the doors and narrowly dodging it's attacks, allowing them land on the door which then activates it's defense system that summons the Skeleton Soldiers.

Adam continued this process over and over again, although the process was slow, it was getting the job done.

An hour and half went by and the health of the Skeleton General remaining was less than one fifty and Adam had thirty remaining of his. They were both on their last legs.

Adam decided to use the method one more time and finish whatever HP it had left himself.

Adam took a deep breath and steadied his stance. "Alright, one last time," he muttered under his breath.

He sprinted toward the colossal doors once more, making sure to bait the Skeleton General's attention. The creature let out a hoarse roar and swung its blazing sword, the blue flames trailing like a comet.

Adam sidestepped at the last possible moment.

Boom!

The flaming arc struck the doors again, and the temple shook violently as the ground split open.

The Skeleton Soldiers immediately went after the tired Skeleton General. His swings were now weaker and slower, but he was still more than capable of dealing with small fries like the Skeleton Soldiers.

'Now.'

Adam sprinted towards the Skeleton General who was about finishing off the last Skeleton Soldier and slashed his back diagonally. The number - 40 appeared over its head.

He let out a hollow roar and swung his sword at Adam, who was able to dodge it quite easily now that's it in this pitiful state.

Not wasting much time, he slashed the chest of the Skeleton General twice in quick succession in an X pattern. Both attacks achieved a critical hit of - 70 and -85 extinguishing whatever health it had.

Its body turned into a pile of bones, also Adam's exp bar rose only needing a tiny bit more to level up. He fell on his knees exhausted, his stamina bar was empty.

On top of the pile of bones were some items the Skeleton General dropped upon death.

The items were a skill book for the Swordsman class, five silver coins, a key and the sword which was used by the Skeleton General himself.
