Randall felt there was no danger on the mushroom, so he left the others there and set off with the guard to explore the ground floor.
They flew around the tops of the mushrooms for a while before the bird began to descend.
The wind rushed past their ears, their hair blowing wildly as they flew. They could no longer see the caps of the mushrooms, only their white stems, which looked like towering pillars.
The orange glow of sunlight filtered through the gaps between the mushrooms, but as they descended deeper, the sunlight could no longer reach them, making their surroundings as dark as if evening had descended.
"Is there no end in sight? Just how tall are these mushrooms?" the guard asked aloud, her heart completely shaken by the sheer distance.
They had been flying for about an hour and a half, yet they still couldn't see the ground.
Randall was equally shocked, but his expression remained calm. He was truly glad they hadn't fallen to their deaths.
