It does not take long for us to arrive once the TARDIS comes to a standstill, indicating that we have landed. Instead of looking at the screen on the console, I walk towards the door, with Alice following slowly behind.
Opening the door, I am greeted by a pier that I am familiar with, not from this universe but from my previous one. "Well, it looks like we are in Blackpool. Well, it's an improvement from all the dam metal corridors that usually greet me," I say, making Alice laugh at my words.
"It is a change of pace, much more peaceful than the ship or back home. I hope that it's not like last time. But hey, who heard of aliens in Blackpool, right?" I can only look at her, knowing she might have jinxed us.
Putting the nagging feeling in the back of my mind that Alice might have jinxed it, I look for an ice cream vendor, because it's a sunny day and ice cream goes great with a hot day. It does not take me long to find one, moving to close the door as Alice exits the TARDIS. Before heading directly towards the vendor, as for how I will pay for it, I can only say I am not the Doctor, I carry cash. However, it's British currency, so in America or any other country, I would be unable to use it directly and would need to exchange it.
After getting the ice cream and finding a bench to sit on, I noticed that the clothes that most people walking by are wearing seem to resemble clothes from the early 2000s, which is good. I would have hated arriving during the COVID lockdown. Well, that's if it happens in this universe. Hell, in this universe, it might have been due to some alien invasion or intervention that led to it occurring in this universe.
While eating my ice cream, I saw people on the other benches tapping their legs. If it were just that, everything would be fine. What's got my attention is what they are tapping. If I were just another Time Lord, it would not mean anything, but any Whovian would recognise that tapping.
"For God's sake, I wanted a dam break, yet she brought us to this time of all places." Hearing me, Alice looked at me before speaking. "What's wrong with the time? Everything is normal, and you said her, we came here in your TARDIS" I look at her before I sigh and speak again "Alice, a TARDIS is a living being, and I say her because she is female. But here is some advice: never start an argument with a TARDIS. You have no chance of winning. One of my people tried, and let's say they regretted it." Hearing the last part, she laughs.
Once she collects herself she asks " why female, why not have mixed like normal" I look at her to see a serious look on her face "at first it was mixed the issue was that a TARDIS does not just travel through the time vortex, the soul of the TARDIS can actively look in to the past and the future, they also sometimes pick up traits of their crew while also having traits of their predecessors, the issue falls when contradictions come in to place like if the captain is a thrill seeker but the rest of the crew like things safe. A TARDIS will try to accommodate them, which conflicts. My people are not sure why, but A TARDIS with a male identification slowly went insane due to the conflicts, to the point it affected the stability of the interior" Hearing me, she looks with a look as if she understood what I said partly.
I must leave quickly since leaving this time will be difficult once the paradox machine is activated. There's no way I will be like the Doctor and face the master without a plan. If I remember right, the master had six months to integrate himself into society.
So, if I return to when he arrives, I should set a few things up before facing him. Although the doctor did mention he was always hypnotic, who said I needed to do things like the master? Creating and building machines is where I excel.
Wait, couldn't I build a disruptor for the paradox machine? It's a viable option, but it would not stop the problem; it would just cause moments of time, where the Paradox machine loses its grip. It would cause moments where his little mercury balls freeze, allowing people to escape. Unfortunately, using it will give your location away to the master.
I stood up, grabbed Alice's hand, and pulled her back to the TARDIS. I needed to hurry before that lunatic activated his machine; nothing was worse than fighting a battle where I had no advantages. Once inside, I ran to the console and set the destination for London six months earlier than now.
As I am doing this, Alice looks at me with a worried expression. Unfortunately for her, I am having a lengthy conversation with Ada about why she brought me here when I said I wanted to relax "Why the hell did you bring me to the Time that the Master was Prime Minister? Are you seriously trying to get me killed?"
"No, I brought you here because it's one of the events in your timeline for this version of yourself that's influx, there's no definite ending, meaning you need to be here at some point in your current incarnation, since I can't see past this incarnation, ok" the last part of her sentence despite it being a simple word came out a bit aggressive compared to the rest of her words as if she was exhausted with me insinuating she was trying to kill me.
It was her words that hit me influx, this is rarely used with TimeLords because it's rare for events not to have already happened since time in this universe is not linear, but with me, since I am the prime version, thanks to my ability, most events for me are not happening until I arrive, wait does this mean I can change somethings from cannon as long as I am apart of those events, I know it was theoretically possible for me to save Rose. Still, I never thought I could actively change major stuff, but I will have to try at least.
Going over the console's screen, I find I am still in the clear, there's no detection of the energy needed for the Paradox machine, meaning I can still make moves. With that done, I realise it's time to explain the situation to Alice.
Turning around, I look at Alice who still has a worried expression with a mix of confusion "I know you are confused so let me explain, I am not the only one of my kind on earth there are two others, one a does around saving the planet like his life depends on it, he is called the Doctor. The other is a megalomaniac driven by madness, bent on ruling. I say megalomaniac, but he is not entirely insane, but it's not his fault; he is known as the Master. The worst part is that my TARDIS put us in a battle between the two, and the Master built a Machine no sane person would. a Paradox machine. To simplify it for you, he's going to connect two points in time, something that's bad beyond belief"
"Wait, so we are leaving to avoid the battle?" I laugh a bit at that before speaking again. "No, we are not leaving; we are just returning to before the master arrives. No way am I getting into a battle like that with nothing prepared. They are both older than me by a lot. It would be suicide without preparation, hence why we are going back in time." She nods at my words.
After a while, she speaks, "Are you going to kill this Master?" I look at her, thinking, will I kill him? I like his character in the shows, but this is reality, he is dangerous. After a while, I decide I can't kill him, the master is one of the last three survivors. I say that knowing they are not destroyed, just in a pocket dimension, until the master goes crazy when he finds out part of the Doctor is in his DNA.
"No, it's just the three of us left in this universe, with everyone that falls, we are near extinction, presides the Master, can be changed, his insanity was the fault of my people's leadership. I don't think the Doctor will let me kill him; they were once friends." After I finish speaking, I look at Alice and see pity in her eyes when she looks at me.
I sigh, returning my attention to the console, ensuring everything is ready for travel. Once I confirm everything, I engage dematerialisation, with only one thought in my mind: time to screw the master's plan.
