By morning, Ludwig had discovered that infinite stamina did not necessarily guarantee victory. He lay on his back, staring at the ceiling while Celine settled against the pillows beside him, looking considerably more pleased with herself.
"Something wrong?"
"I think I've made a terrible mistake."
"What mistake?"
"Bragging."
Celine laughed and reached across to brush a stray lock of hair from his forehead.
"Yes, that was rather foolish of you."
"I thought vampires were supposed to sleep during the day."
"We can. That doesn't mean we have to."
"So we're both perfectly capable of staying awake all night, and neither of us had the sense to consider what that might mean."
"I thought you were rather pleased with the arrangement."
