Behind the closed curtains the last of the lamp-light had already been reduced to a low amber glow. Celine shifted closer until the warm length of her thigh settled against Ludwig's. Her hand moved across his chest, palm sliding over the fabric of his shirt, fingers finding the buttons and working them free one by one. She was not hurried, yet there was a quiet determination in the way she touched him that made his breathing change.
Ludwig watched her.
"You're awfully quiet," she said.
"I'm enjoying the view."
"There's hardly anything to see yet."
"Then I suppose you're going to have to fix that."
