Might Guy was utterly bewildered.
Become a Magnetic Field Powerhouse? What was that supposed to mean?
As someone who had devoted his life to martial arts, Guy had no idea what Mirai meant by a "Magnetic Field Powerhouse".
To him, life was simple. Train, train, and train some more. Nothing mattered more than training.
Every day spent without training was a waste of youth, an indulgence in his own life.
That was also why Guy found it so difficult to forgive himself for losing to Kakashi.
Losing to Kakashi wasn't frightening in itself. What truly terrified him was losing in such a humiliating manner, without even having the ability to fight back.
Guy couldn't forgive himself for allowing his youth to become so dim.
His training wasn't enough. He needed to work even harder!
He had already decided that he wouldn't sleep tonight. Instead, he would do ten thousand push-ups. If ten thousand weren't enough, he would do twenty thousand! And if twenty thousand still weren't enough, he would do thirty thousand!
With enough perseverance and effort, there would eventually come a day when he surpassed Kakashi.
Just as Guy was preparing to put his plan into action, Mirai appeared and said something that left him scratching his head.
"Of course I want to surpass Kakashi! But, Hokage-sama, what exactly is this 'Magnetic Field Powerhouse' you mentioned?"
"A Magnetic Field Powerhouse follows a training system that differs from the conventional path of a ninja. Their abilities can also surpass those of ordinary ninja."
"But, Hokage-sama, do I really have the talent to become such?"
Mirai smiled.
"Guy, don't underestimate yourself. You're a very talented ninja, and I have high hopes for you."
"Really? Hokage-sama!"
It was as though flames had suddenly erupted in Guy's eyes. A tremendous surge of emotion welled up in his chest, and the blood throughout his body seemed to boil. He was so excited that he could barely find the words to express himself.
Hokage-sama had praised him!
Even someone as powerful as the Hokage thought highly of him!
"My blood is boiling! Youth! This is passionate youth!! Hokage-sama, I will work hard!"
Guy clenched his right fist, extended his thumb, and flashed a hearty smile. His white teeth shone like light bulbs.
The sudden display made Mirai chuckle.
'He's truly thick-headed!'
Yet that was precisely what Mirai liked about him.
Given Guy's personality and characteristics, he would undoubtedly receive an enormous advantage from cultivating the Magnetic Field system.
In Mirai's opinion, among all the ninja currently in Konoha, Guy was unquestionably the most talented individual for Magnetic Field martial arts.
Even his own nephew, Naruto, couldn't match Guy's natural talent in this particular field.
Once Guy stepped into Magnetic Field martial arts under his guidance, just how far would he be able to progress?
Mirai was genuinely looking forward to finding out.
"Hokage-sama, how can I become the Magnetic Field Powerhouse you mentioned?"
Might Guy asked the question excitedly.
At that moment, he was filled with anticipation for the mysterious path Mirai had introduced to him.
As long as he became such an existence, he would be able to surpass Kakashi, wouldn't he?
The memory of how easily Kakashi had defeated him still stirred a surge of frustration in his heart.
But now, he had finally been given another opportunity!
He could become a Magnetic Field Powerhouse and challenge Kakashi to another passionate youth competition.
That was exactly what Guy wanted to do.
"You already have the key to becoming a Magnetic Field Powerhouse."
Mirai paused briefly before answering.
"Willpower."
"Remember this, Guy. No matter what happens, you must always maintain an unyielding will. That determination is the foundation of your journey into Magnetic Field martial arts."
Willpower?
Guy fell into deep thought, carefully considering Mirai's words.
Just then, Mirai extended his index finger and gently tapped Guy's forehead.
A jolt of electric current flashed.
In an instant, Guy felt as though the world around him had changed.
His body seemed to be filled with a peculiar new power. Countless twisted, linear objects appeared all around him, and the beating of his heart seemed to resonate with the entire world.
At that moment, Guy felt as though he were witnessing an enormous door opening before him. Beyond it lay a completely unfamiliar world, one that was now descending before his very eyes.
"Is this... the power of Magnetic Field martial arts?"
Guy clenched his fist, a look of sudden realization appearing on his face.
For the first time, he experienced a kind of beauty he had never encountered before.
It was an indescribable pleasure, like the very essence of his life had been elevated to a higher level.
"Thank you, Hokage-sama!"
"You've shown me an entirely new direction! This is true youth!"
A violent surge of air erupted from Guy's body. Within his eyes, several streaks of blue electric current flashed.
'He's already approaching Electro-Magnetic Drive with nothing more than this initial awakening?'
Mirai couldn't help feeling impressed.
'Guy, just as I expected, you're truly an exceptionally rare genius in Magnetic Field martial arts!'
A faint smile appeared in Mirai's eyes.
"Don't disappoint me, Guy. Show me the full extent of your talent."
…
Kakashi leaned against a wall with one hand in his pocket, enjoying the lazy afternoon sunshine while savouring the copy of Make-Out Paradise in his hand.
"Finally finished."
After an unknown amount of time, Kakashi stretched his body, producing a series of cracking sounds.
The magnum opus of Make-Out Paradise, which he had been savouring for so long, had finally reached its conclusion after numerous unexpected interruptions.
Looking back, finishing this classic had truly been a difficult undertaking.
First, Tsunade had caught him red-handed during the school's opening ceremony. Then he had run into Guy, who insisted on challenging him to a competition. After considerable effort, he had finally defeated Guy and secured some precious free time to enjoy his beloved classic.
"Speaking of which, I haven't seen Guy for a while."
Kakashi recalled the dejected expression Guy had worn after their last battle.
A sudden thought crossed his mind.
Had he been too harsh on Guy?
He seemed to remember saying some rather unpleasant things during their exchange.
He had been so focused on finishing his beloved masterpiece that he hadn't paid much attention to Guy's feelings.
Still, knowing Guy's easy-going personality, he probably wouldn't take it too seriously, right?
Perhaps by the next time they met, Guy would have completely forgotten about the whole incident.
Just as Kakashi was thinking about this...
BOOM!
A deafening explosion erupted nearby.
Countless clouds of dust surged from the rooftop in front of him, while chunks of rubble flew in every direction.
Kakashi narrowed his eyes and stared ahead.
As the dust gradually settled, a familiar figure emerged from within it.
"Hmm? Guy?!"
"Kakashi, let's have a passionate battle!"
Guy stood before him, powerful currents of air surging around his body.
Compared with his previous state while using the Eight Inner Gates, something about him had changed dramatically. Blue electric currents now swirled within the turbulent currents of air surrounding him.
The result was a Guy who appeared even more ferocious than before.
"Guy, what happened to you? Why have you suddenly changed so much?"
Kakashi was genuinely astonished by Guy's transformation.
He had known Guy for a long time, yet he had never seen him in this state.
"Kakashi, just as you said before, the current me is no longer the me of the past!"
Guy's eyes burned with intense fighting spirit.
'The Magnetic Field system taught to me by Hokage-sama truly possesses terrifying power!'
'I've never felt this good before!'
'It's as though an endless supply of power is flowing through my veins!'
'With every punch, I feel as though I could shatter mountains!'
'Kakashi, since both of us have been reborn, let's have a real competition!'
Seeing the intense fighting spirit burning in Guy's eyes, Kakashi finally put aside his earlier disdain.
The Guy standing before him was already powerful enough to make him feel a genuine sense of pressure.
"Although I have no idea what happened to you, if I don't take this seriously, I'll probably lose!"
Kakashi drew the short blade from his back and flicked a button with his index finger.
The blade began vibrating at a speed almost imperceptible to the naked eye, while his left bionic eye locked firmly onto Guy.
Kakashi had entered combat mode.
Since transplanting his bionic eye and obtaining the three major technological ninja tools, this was the first time he had experienced such an intense sense of pressure.
The Guy standing before him had become the strongest opponent he had encountered in all these years.
He absolutely had to treat this battle with caution.
…
Atop the Hokage Building, Mirai stood with his hands clasped behind his back, looking down at the two men facing each other on the rooftop below.
The current Guy and Kakashi represented two distinct paths within the Magnetic Field system.
Guy pursued Magnetic Field martial arts, seeking to discover and unleash the power of his own body and mind.
Kakashi, on the other hand, pursued the technological path, strengthening himself through scientific advancements and external equipment.
It was difficult to determine which path was inherently superior.
After all, when Magnetic Field martial arts were trained to their ultimate limits, a practitioner could traverse the universe and shatter stars with brute force.
Likewise, if the technological system were developed to a sufficiently advanced level, it could produce mechs capable of crossing the universe. Star-destroying cannons and antimatter weapons could also shatter stars.
Both paths possessed the potential to reach terrifying heights.
Between the two of them, who would ultimately emerge victorious?
…
The Land of Wind.
Within the vast desert, fierce winds swept across the endless dunes, sending yellow sand swirling through the air.
Amid the seemingly boundless sea of sand, the crisp sound of wind chimes rang out intermittently, carried by the breeze.
Faintly, two black-robed figures emerged from the swirling sand.
"Sunagakure is just ahead. According to our intelligence, the One-Tail Jinchūriki is inside the village."
Sasori of the Red Sand spoke in his usual emotionless voice.
"The Tailed Beast capture plan is finally beginning! I'm really looking forward to this. We'll be the ones to initiate the capture of the One-Tail!"
Hiruko's expression was filled with anticipation.
He had made extensive preparations for capturing the tailed beasts.
Once he succeeded, he would make a name for himself within Akatsuki and attract the attention of the organization's leader.
"I wouldn't get too excited if I were you. I have no intention of casually participating in this capture operation."
Sasori of the Red Sand regarded Hiruko's confident expression with contempt.
Was this guy so excited simply because the leader had promised to help him achieve his so-called ultimate Chimera state by absorbing five different Kekkei Genkai?
Recently, Hiruko had practically become the leader's sycophant. He seemed determined to flatter the man at every opportunity.
Sasori had nothing but disdain for Hiruko's so-called ultimate Chimera state.
Even if Hiruko managed to absorb five different Kekkei Genkai, so what?
Could that really compare to a human puppet possessing five different Kekkei Genkai?
As the creator of human puppets, Sasori of the Red Sand had never acknowledged Hiruko's art.
Risking one's life to forcibly incorporate powers that didn't belong to oneself, then modifying one's own body to accommodate them, was a foolish endeavour. In Sasori's opinion, it was even more foolish than Orochimaru's art.
Sasori particularly despised Hiruko's practice of stealing the corpses of ninjas who possessed Kekkei Genkai.
He could never approve of such methods.
"Hmph! Sasori, just you wait and see. I've been preparing for this operation for a long time!"
Hiruko responded to Sasori's sarcasm with a cold snort.
Although the two men were partners, their radically different artistic philosophies made their relationship as antagonistic as fire and water.
"If only I could take Rasa along while I'm at it..."
A greedy look appeared in Hiruko's eyes.
Rasa, the Magnet Style user and Fourth Kazekage of Sunagakure, had been ridiculed throughout the shinobi world after suffering a humiliating defeat at Mirai's hands during the Third Great Ninja War.
Unable to endure the disgrace, Rasa had gone insane after the war.
Stripped of his authority by Sunagakure's higher-ups, the now-powerless Rasa was reportedly confined to a hidden room somewhere, where his daily task was to breed.
Hiruko found this rumour somewhat believable.
After all, under Konoha's Fifth Hokage, Magnet Style had become famous throughout the world and was practically revered as the strongest Kekkei Genkai.
Even Particle Style, the Kekkei Tōta wielded by the Tsuchikage of Iwagakure, was considered by many ninja to be incapable of competing with Mirai's Magnet Style.
Sunagakure's higher-ups had always believed that Magnet Style itself wasn't useless. Rather, Rasa was useless because he couldn't fully exploit its capabilities.
Consequently, it seemed highly probable that Sunagakure would attempt to cultivate new Magnet Style users using Rasa's genes.
"Instead of fantasizing about such things, why don't you concentrate on how we're going to capture the One-Tail?"
Sasori of the Red Sand sneered.
If Hiruko knew that the Third Kazekage—the man widely acknowledged as the strongest Kazekage in Sunagakure's history and another wielder of Magnet Style—was already in Sasori's possession and had been turned into a human puppet, what kind of expression would he make?
"You don't need to tell me what to do!"
Hiruko bit his finger and slapped his palm against the ground.
BOOM!
A burst of white smoke erupted, and a group of bizarre creatures appeared on the sand.
Twisted snakes, creatures with centipede-like limbs, and sparrow-like beasts whose chameleon eyes rolled around in their sockets...
The sight was enough to make Sasori feel a wave of disgust.
Combining the characteristics of different creatures into a single being...
Even that snake wouldn't go so far as to create something this disgusting, would it?
Hiruko ignored Sasori's reaction. He formed a hand seal, and the strange summoned ninja beasts immediately scattered in different directions, beginning their infiltration of Sunagakure.
"Go! Go! Bring me the information!"
Hiruko's eyes gleamed with fanaticism.
These synthetic beasts, which he had carefully cultivated, would obtain precisely what he needed most.
Meanwhile, the ninja guarding Sunagakure's walls failed to notice the bizarre creatures silently slipping into the village from different directions.
…
Inside the Kazekage's office, Pakura, the Fifth Kazekage, was handling official duties when a sudden wave of unease washed over her.
For some reason, she found herself unable to concentrate.
"Strange... Why do I suddenly feel this way?"
Pakura raised her head and looked toward the window.
Outside, Sunagakure appeared as peaceful as ever. Everything seemed normal, and there was nothing unusual in sight.
Nevertheless, the uneasiness in her heart refused to fade.
No matter how hard she tried, she simply couldn't settle down and return her attention to her work.
"Never mind. There's no need to rush through my work. I'll go see Gaara instead."
The moment she thought of Gaara's adorable appearance, her troubled heart immediately softened.
Her mood improved considerably.
Ever since Rasa had gone insane and Pakura had assumed the position of Fifth Kazekage, she had naturally adopted Rasa's youngest son, Gaara.
As a Jinchūriki, Gaara had displayed astonishing talent under her tutelage.
He had never lost control even once.
This only strengthened Pakura's conviction that adopting and guiding him had been the right decision.
Leaving the Kazekage's office, Pakura headed directly toward Gaara's room.
She wondered what the little boy was doing at that moment.
However, the moment she pushed open the door, her pupils contracted slightly.
A bizarre creature stood beside Gaara's window.
It was half snake and half something else, with strange centipede-like legs protruding from its body. Its tongue flicked in and out as it lingered only a few centimeters away from Gaara, who was lying on his bed.
"Scorch Style!"
BOOM!!!
…
Outside Sunagakure, Hiruko, who had been controlling the operation with his eyes closed, suddenly snapped his eyes open.
"Oh no!"
