Walking into the room, Xia Lu finally let out a sigh of relief, her mind finally relaxing. Although she was now a part of the Zhou Family, she always felt out of place with the people downstairs and never felt at ease around them. She was sure she wasn't the only one who felt this way; Zhou Xinyao hid her attitude toward her in public, but in front of the Zhou Family, she made no secret of it. Xia Lu knew that Xinyao simply didn't like her, and it wasn't something that could be easily changed.
But on the other hand, Xia Lu couldn't argue with her about it. Whether she could win such a dispute was one thing, but she knew all too well about Zhou Xinyao's temper. Engaging with her was just too exhausting.
"I really feel like a pushover now..." she mumbled to herself, pressing her lips together.
Downstairs, the family continued chatting as usual, their rhythm uninterrupted, as if her presence or absence made no difference.
