Yuto

My mind felt hazy. I remember dying. That was forsure. No one survives that.

Yet here I am In some kind of fluid. I feel weird. Like I have something running through me starting at my gut. I open my eyes and see some kind of strange laboratory.

I don't get much time to admire my surroundings when my eyes begin hurting. Suddenly, I feel like I can see everything all at once. It hurts.

I try to scream but the face mask covering my mouth negates any sound. Deciding I need to get out of here I rip the mask off only to begin choking as I realise there's a tube in my throat.

Acting quickly I yank it out and decide to break the glass to get out. One punch does the trick surprisingly. I fall in a naked heap onto the very dusty floor. 'It's like nobody has been here in years!' I think to myself trying to remain calm despite my rather drastic change of scenery.

I run for the doorway and beside it I see a lab coat. Though a bit dusty from lack of use, I decide anything is better than running around butt naked.

Coming out of the room I'm met with a rundown hallway and decide to follow my instincts toward where I think the exit is. The entire time I'm straining my ears trying to ensure nobody comes upon me from behind.

Making another right down the hallway I stop before a door that's closed. I open in and inside is a desk with all kinds of notes on it.

I see they're all written in Japanese. Even more crazy though is I can read them. I'd never spoken anything but English.

Finding some pants in there folded on the sofa, I grab them and rip them to size because they were far to long.

By the shape of my body, I assume I'm around 13-14. Not great, that means I'll have to go through puberty again.

I shake off such mundane thoughts and focus back on escaping whatever this place is quickly.

Leaving the room still barefoot but At least dressed, I continue trying to find the exit.

It took almost an hour to find it. But find it I did. I step out into the wilderness and see I was underground and am surrounded by trees. Deciding I don't want to meet whoever lives here when they come back I quickly begin making my way straight ahead trying to find anyone to help me.

I only get about 200 yards when I stumble upon a campfire with two very shady looking individuals with swords beside them.

One of them, probably mid 30's had a tan flak jacket on and a turbin on his head. The younger one, probably a few years my elder, wore no jacket but didn't look any less dangerous. They both turned to face me and I saw what was on their headband.

A symbol I knew well in my past life. The symbol of the Sand village.

I don't get much more thinking time when the elder speaks, "who are you kid? And what are you doing here?" He says standing up grabbing his still sheathed sword.

The younger doesn't speak but follows his actions, grabbing his own weapon.

"Sorry?" I say in confusion as what comes out of my mouth is Japanese. "I just stumbled here. I'll be going now." I say turning on my heels to run away when a kunai embedded itself right beside my foot.

"I don't think so little one," the elder said. He took a step towards me but that's as far as he got when I heard a shout of. "Great Fireball jutsu!"

Said fireball hits the man and does….significant damage to him. It seems he was focused on me and saw it too late. The younger of the two tries to do a hand sign before a shadow appears behind him, knocking him unconscious.

"Hmph. Damn sand shinobi scaring a child." I hear a very familiar voice. One I and many other fatherless children looked to for guidance and reassurance.

Standing before me with spikey white hair and a headband that said 'oil' on it. "Hey there kid. You okay?" He asks me in a softer voice.

I nod shakily. Still trying to reconcile what exactly is happening. I'd just seen a real fireball jutsu and if memory serves a shunshin. Things that were make believe before now performed with such speed and accuracy. It was a sobering thought. That many people could do things like this.

I feel a hand on my shoulder. Looking up I see him smile at me, "My names jiraiya the toad sage, who are you?"

I speak, "Yuto.." I say quitely, my mind racing. It seems jiraiya misunderstands though. "Come with me. I'll take you somewhere safe." I look at him and hope he means anywhere other than where he's probably talking about.

The village hidden in the leaves. Konoha.
