Lydia walked down the corridor without looking back.
Her eyes were still filled with tears, but she refused to let them fall.
She had already cried enough.
She had been foolish enough to believe that things could change.
She had believed Ivan when he held her through the storm. She had believed his promise that he would never leave her again. She had even allowed herself to imagine what his face would look like when she told him about their baby.
Now all of that felt like a cruel joke.
She did not have the strength to think about Tatiana.
She did not have the energy to deal with anyone.
Unfortunately, Tatiana was standing ahead with Yelena.
Lydia saw them, but she did not slow down.
She did not even bother to look at them.
She simply walked past.
Tatiana watched her.
The moment Lydia had almost disappeared from view, Tatiana smiled.
"You must be sad."
Lydia kept walking.
"Coming to terms with the reality that you will never win."
