Chapter 243 - 243 - Blasphemy 3

*

"Nope, you're not getting it this easy." (Primordial Shadow)

Blades collide, the magical girl in front of her held a blade to her back, effortlessly intercepting the tip of the great sword. The screeching of metal on metal rang out as shock waves consequently blew against the horizon. Each gust was able tear a hole through a planet.

Parting from the clash, Yggdrasil leapt back with her sword in tow. She shifts her stance in response to the new weapon, her enemy had a strikingly familiar sword. Pitch black, a continuously flowing magic aura... It's just like Vinia's katana.

"I'm not letting you! Weapon switch, Origin Roots!!" (Yggdrasil)

The great sword dissolves into the air before subtle and miniature red crystals coat over the surface of her glove. Each individual crystal was as tough as an entire universe condensed into that tiny space. Right and left, two consecutive punches landed on the katana of swirling ink. She was much faster than before, not having to lug a massive weapon nearly as tall as her. So she connects the next attack, and then the next. Her wrist cramped from stiffness and her knuckles popped from the pressure, but she didn't stop ramming her arms until they were a blur.

Cracks began to spread over the surface of the katana and fall onto the ground. She continued wailing, believing she had made more progress, when... The blade fell off. The entire flat side of the katana blew into dust, and what was left was an exceptionally fearsome rapier.

"... Hmm, your network of worlds adorned on a fist can bust up a katana only worth a single world. But that was the weapon of my shadow, now this is my true weapon.

Sorry, but this weapon is even stronger than me. After all, it belonged to the original. " (Primordial Shadow)

" Kuh! Dammit! " (Yggdrasil)

If she was at a disadvantage, she should embrace it rather than pretend that everything is fine. This opponent was patient enough to wait for her to charge up attacks, if it wasn't so she would have died at the beginning of the fight. She grabs the rapier with one hand and flings the other at her face. She ducks the swing and sweeps Yggdrasil's leg, then strikes with that very leg, plunging her heel into Yggdrasil's lungs. Her body withstands most of the impact but was still thrown into the distance, tumbling like dead weed.

Weakly, she stood back up without pause, wiping the blood of her lips with her newly upgraded gloves. Smearing her blood all over the artificial universes that form matrices over her combat glove. In an instant, she attacked from multiple different angles, her speed steadily climbing as she launched numerous punches and kicks. After blocking the first couple hits, Primordial Shadow took one of Yggdrasil's arms with one hand and bashed her fist into Yggdrasil's face with a tug.

Smashing her knuckles, Primordial Shadow drove her fist into Yggdrasil's flesh, tenderising her enemy. Releasing a barrage of punches, the final attack blows into Yggdrasil's torso, tearing flesh from flesh. Weakly, Yggdrasil raised her arms as blood poured from her mouth and nostrils. Her skin glows pale, lips wrinkled and eyes dull. Gradually, she slips in a smirk as the opponent gazes calmly at her.

"Kuku... Kukukukuku! Hahaha haha!" (Yggdrasil)

"Pffftt! Fuhaahaha hahahaha!" (Primordial Shadow)

"I didn't... Expect my first... Embrace to be like this." (Yggdrasil)

"Hmmm? The hell you talking about?" (Primordial Shadow)

"Hey... What do you think my favourite distance for battle is?" (Yggdrasil)

"... Distance hmm? Likely the same as me." (Primordial Shadow)

It's unbelievable how old this individual is, yet she just seemed like a young girl because of the arcane. She can escape the law of magical girls, use her magic in her original male form. Or perhaps she can't access that form as a shadow. Her ponytail sways gently as her striking face graces the world with a charming smile and narrowed eyes. Through bloody teeth, Yggdrasil returns a wide grin.

"{Feed}. Level limitation. " (Yggdrasil)

A world of red light is deployed, bathing everything in sight.

"What is... This?" (Primordial Shadow)

"It's a technique that requires skin contact." (Yggdrasil)

After casting it, she quietly slipped off the arm embedded in her torso and healed up. Clean smooth skin grew back and covered her insides before her dress did.

"Debuffs don't work on deities. Brute force doesn't either. The challenge here is to create something new, infinitely. Just to entertain you enough that you won't finish me off. Did I get it right?" (Yggdrasil)

"hmm... You're right, I am bored. We have all the time in the world after all. However, if you piss me off enough I can clean you right up immediately!

For now... Let's go along with this farce. " (Primordial Shadow)

"... Thank you. Now let's unveil it. " (Yggdrasil)

The sky clears out the red light as azure pierced through, within a second the space had been entirely renovated.

"... This is... Earth? " (Primordial Shadow)

" That's right. Maybe I simply miss it, but I wanted to show you my home." (Yggdrasil)

Her bare feet uncradled take step after step. Dull grey stones line the walls, painting a monochrome picture of this world. Residential zone 2A before it was annihilated, this was... A simulation. Primordial Shadow, or... Let's just call her Lastia for convenience sake. She adjusted to her new height, her skin felt prickly as new sensations flooded her soul. Yet her body felt natural, as if she had been born this way.

"You're strong, so you won't feel like anything's strange... No, it's because you can resist the technique that you can feel everything is strange and unnatural. Your instincts are correct, normally even a S grade or a weak god would lose their memories.

I wonder if you can guess... Who you still are? " (Yggdrasil)

" Haa~ Of course I can. I'm Lastia-" (Lastia)

Lastia's memories, her data has been stored in Yggdrasil all this time. If one were to question what was most precious to her, surely this was the answer. After all, she was charged with the mission to revive her, by a loved one. The sky dims into a dark unsaturated blue, clouds were sparse and the atmosphere cooled. Even the people were simulated, as lights within the houses were still on, mottled like a bunch of fireflies.

Yggdrasil could feel her own chest relaxing, while her opponent's heart rate was increasing. Why did she think she was Lastia? Because of her strength and her precious identity as a male magical girl, her soul could instantly tell how unsettling and wrong her body was. She has a firm sense of self that it could only be worn down by anything just short of destruction. However, her name...? It was because she was a shadow of the original old god, that aspect was missing from the very start. Giving her a new name... Comfortably slipped the identity in, so to speak.

If she wanted the memories gone, she could give it one last push. However she wants to see how things played out. Just like how the Primordial Shadow did.
